Only on very few occasions had Joran felt he was being grossly underpaid for a job that he had been sent on. The first one was when he was little, which he fondly looked back on as the moment he grew up once he was told that the amount of pay that he received was more than others would have got. That put many things into perspective for his dealings with the New Order. The pride that had swelled through his body knowing he was what they considered the best, or at least that was how he rationalized the higher pay, was insurmountable.
The same could not be said about this moment in time. This particular moment not only made him want to tear the hair from his head, he was also undoubtedly going to be stuck here for an agonizing amount of time. The other people at this party were beneath their level, they only needed a swift kick the head to remember that, yet that was not what this party was about. Of course not, this was just another event to find out who our allies were, and who was the blatant enemy.
Once Solaras had slowly taken whatever the hell he had been given to drink, he allowed himself to take in the appearance of the mysterious woman he had been sent to protect. The dossier that had been given to him confirmed that she was a bit younger than him, but in the grand scheme of the night, they had to be two of the youngest people in the room. Of course the Order would send their younger members to this event, especially someone as attractive as Solaras just happened to be. Though that did seem to bring the double-edged sword. Before he had a real chance to respond a man had decided to make his obnoxious voice known to the duo.
The sheer way the man happened to be talking to Solaris was more than enough for Jorin to memorize the man's face. The sheer amount of murderous intent was just below the surface, begging to be unleashed on the man. Now, however, was just not the time for that. "I don't know what you have been told about the First Order, but she rose through the ranks faster than most other people, because she doesn't play the political games that most decide are needed. It's funny you dismiss her the way you do, as if I was a person to deal with fear, but if I did... Well the only real person in this room I would fear would be her." It never hurt to embellish people a little bit, even though he knew virtually nothing about her.
"If I was fucking her... Why would I tell such a story to an old man that probably can't even get it up, or else he would just have continued to talk to the Ambassador sent by the First Order. I think you have wasted our time for long enough, do enjoy the party though. Don't forget that it was you that said it was all just a pipe dream when one day you are looking up at First Order and begging to be allowed to join us." Slowly brushing past the man, he swiftly laced his right arm with the gorgeous Solaras' arm he smiled politely to the lady of the evening.
"I Feel like we should socialize with some people that actually know what they are talking about, unlike some of the... less than worthy people in this place. Honestly though, maybe an intelligence test wasn't such a bad idea after all? " This time it was his voice that was just loud enough for the man to hear, as he smiled at Solaras, knowing he was stirring the pot just a little too much almost. Looking into her eyes, he made sure she could only hear him for the next part of what he was saying, "Are we sure that I'm not allowed to maim just one? I'll settle on just one."
