I also feel like the idea that there is now a hypothesised generational divide between people who used to 'RP' on IM and people who write good content on forums is pathetic. Why start this crap?

You could also have long-form stories over text, however complaining about long-form, detailed posts (as this began as), seems both ludicrous and worthy of IM.

Sometime it's less about writing some shitty slice-of-life RP in IM, and more about creating a coherent and valued story among like-minded people. Something you'd need an actual platform for.

On an IC note: we have 5, potentially 6 people here, which I think is enough to possibly warrant the IC beginning? Of course our goal is to bring in a lot more writers, but it has been difficult so far and I don't want to delay much further and potentially have someone lose interest, therefore I'm going to begin working on the first post tonight. I'll be out tomorrow evening, and have some college work and actual work to do over the weekend, but expect the IC to be up and running before Sunday.
I'm very interested in this idea. While I don't have much to add or anything, I'll read it over later again and see if anything comes to mind... but I think it could be a really interesting, and fun, roleplay that you've fleshed out fairly well so far!
Fantastic! It doesn't seem to be getting a lot of traction here in Advanced though, so when my new story is settled I'll trying putting it in Casual and seeing how that turns out. In any case, I'll let you know what's happening.

OOHH! MY! GAW! I read through the intro of this after expressing some interest before, had some laughs, some inspiration, some ideas, so on and so forth, then got near the end and saw 'this'

Yeah, there's obviously going to be dissidents towards the new joining, but the general feeling across the world is one of awe and excitement. So if you're on Earth, expect some serious heated moments. Xenophobes, racists, isolationists etc will have a part.

On a side note, 'space dragons' could be anything from the general 'dragon-like species in space' to literal 'space' dragons, some big ancient buggers big as a Dreadnought literally flying through space >3>

Oh goodness... Dare I get involved?! I've done some rather variety work before on aliens species before >3> Fluffy space raptors, wobbly gooey things, space dragons, space whales, I even made 'ponies' believable in a space-faring scale once... Just to clarify, I like to work the experience of not-so-obviously-human-like species in space, not 'because furry!', but because random 'kinda looks human but it's not because X random trait is present' has been done to DEATH by EVERYONE before... It's so much more fun to explore the functions of entirely different creatures than it is to say something like 'these dudes look like humans but they're not... caaauuuse... oh! they've got gills, yeah, that's totally it... oh, and these funny looking lines on their faces! that too!'
Dare you should! We'd always love to bring aboard new creative minds, and even better if they can create races like that! I'm actually super-interested in that space dragon one right now hahah. I see your point though, everyone always does the same thing, mostly humanoid creatures that are slightly different. That's not bad, if a race is good then a race is good, but it's always interesting to explore the 10-legged camel with acidic fangs who loves the alien equivalent of Mozart and Don Quixote. We'd be happy to have you if you decide to join!
An example is the race I created in my Day One segment. Pretty standard, I have little imagination. We're needing people who enjoy pushing the boat out, as it were.
