History:
Valol Azu was born on Sur'Kesh under the umbrella of a very successful corporation in the ever booming information industry. He and his many siblings would be raised in this corporation with the singular purpose of becoming agents and continue the legacy of their heritage. Their mother taught them how to fight, how to hack, and how to steal. She taught them the intricacies of information gathering and the dangers of having it. But also the rewards. Unlike some of his other siblings, Valol never really questioned his place in it all. He knew what his mother wanted of him and that's all he needed growing up. Besides, he enjoyed the training.
As Valol got older, he began to realize the benefits and gains of a career such as this. Valol often resonated with an old human saying. "Knowledge is Power."
Valol firmly believed that mantra. He still does. But then something happened that changed his view of the universe forever. His mother died. His mother had her clutch older than most, at 32. It was just after Valol had turned 10, fully grown in the eyes of Salarian society. He had recently completed training and was now operating for the corporation on a regular basis. His mother had recently gotten sick and passed as he was returning from a mission. 42 years old. A normal lifespan by Salarian standards. But too young for Valol's taste. It devastated and infuriated him, how Humans and Turians got an extra half a decade at least and Krogan and Asari got hundreds of years. Yet the smartest and fastest only got 40 years in the galaxy. It baffled him.
Valol began to realize that knowledge might have power, death had even more. The fear of it, the threat if it. Or even the promise of it. He began to study death and his own biology, looking for ways to extend his lifespan and the the total lifespan of his species. He searched for years and years to no avail. But he won't stop. Valol will find a way to achieve longer life or die trying. The corporation is sending him on a mission. There are whispers of an attack at the remembrance ceremony at The Citadel. It's his job to find out what's what.
Knowledge has power but death has promises.
Personality:
Valol is someone you could consider in love with his job. He likes the excitement, the intrigue. He's always up for a good challenge and juggling his own mortality. Indeed his own relationship with death has made him more partial to it as a tool. As if every person he kills will bring him closer to achieving immortality. He has undying loyalty to The Corporation, the organization where he was born, raised, and taught at. Even though his trade is espionage, he has the hobby of biology and science. Every chance he gets he's looking for ways to change his DNA, to cheat the death that took his mother.
Valol could be seen as resenting the Asari, the closest beings to immortality in the known universe. They take hundreds of years to "find out who they are" when he only has 40 to accomplish the impossible. So the case could be made for his dislike of them. He's very close to his many siblings, having trained side by side them since birth. Indeed, they are the only people he truly loves and trusts without a doubt. As far as romantic or sexual desires, he's a Salarian. He doesn't have time for that drivel. Sex and romance are just tools used by clans to keep the species alive, he has no interest in either.
