If any sort of surprise crossed his mind, Gideon did well to conceal it. His face remained unchanged when Anara brought out the map. Truth be told, he'd heard about rumours about them more times than he'd cared for. Gideon tuned out of the conversation, as he did regularly, and looked around the room once more. The stone surrounding him once again provided him with a sense of security. Lysander's presence equaled the comfort the cavernous environment gave Gideon. Gideon could feel the childlike excitement that boiled inside Lysander during the act of tunneling. Gideon's eyes rested on each face in the room. Honestly, he hoped he made some of them a bit uneasy. He'd stare for a bit and move on to another in the room when he spotted Oberon. He was aware of the rivalry Oberon had formed in his mind, but Gideon honestly didn't think anybody compared to him. Possibly in a couple years, the Knight may have a shot. To Gideon, Oberon seemed more the "next generation" rather than an equal. It was at this thought that a word snapped his attention back to the meeting.

Kendrigan.

He hadn't heard about that place in a while. Regardless, the thought of leaving the island filled him with childlike excitement akin to that of Lysander's. Maybe it was part of the empathetic bond; maybe it was genuine. Either way, Gideon spoke for the first time since he arrived. His voice was low and rumbling with a hint of condescension.

"I wouldn't have come if I wasn't already committed to whatever we had to do"
The walk to the council chamber had been a familiar one for Gideon. It was one he'd taken quite a few times in his dragon riding career, answering for some questionable deeds he'd committed throughout his life. Of course, he was generally found innocent if not disliked by most. Despite how others may feel about him, Gideon hadn't really felt any sort of hostility towards them. They were his countrymen after all and that was where his loyalties lied. Lysander had opted to dig around rather than follow Gideon into the mountain, and neither had a problem with that choice. Once inside the cavernous area, Gideon found himself feeling more at home than in the open air - a side effect of being bonded with Lysander for so long.

Gideon walked upright, furthering his giantlike stature, and moved with a sense of authority. His black cloak trailed lightly on the stone floor and his hood rests on his head, casting a shadow on his face. His boots made very little sound despite all the weight they were supporting and Gideon's gait remained steady and rhythmic. He had no doubt he was already late, but the familiar buzz in his head origination from his waterskin cast away most of his worries. Anara, at most, would be slightly annoyed at his less-than-punctual arrival and at best, would appreciate his presence in her team. As he approached the door, he let his hood drop and took another drink from his pouch.

When the door opened, Gideon maintained what he thought was a neutral expression but what others would describe as an annoyed scowl. He quickly counted seven others and recognized the hardened features of Anara. Clearly they had already begun to discuss the matter at hand, but his entrance would've caught the attention of some of them nonetheless. He nodded towards Anara after what he thought was making eye contact and went to sit in an unoccupied chair. Gideon leaned his warhammer against the side of his seat and sat equally upright as his stance and faced the other members.

A final thought crossed Gideon's mind: Why is everyone so damn young?
Well actually, I may be able to get a quick introduction post in before leaving once I skim through the current IC.
So I just got my character up, but unfortunately I have a doctor's appointment to go to, so go ahead without me and I'll play catch up by this evening.
If this is still open, I'd like to reserve a spot!
Name: Abric Vess
Age: 22
Species: Echani
Appearance:

Abric generally wears a light hooded black robe over a long sleeve rashguard and shorts. He stands at a modest 5'10" and weighs 180 lbs. with a lean, athletic build. When necessary, Abric will wear a black mask that covers his entire face, save his eyes. Without the mask, Abric will wear his hood up and wrap the bottom half of his face.

Abilities/Skills:
  • Echani Martial Arts: Through his upbringing, Abric is proficient in all Echani Forms and specializes in extremely close quarters grappling and striking both unarmed and with a blade.
  • Extensive Biological/Behavioral Knowledge: Abric possesses extensive knowledge in Human and Near-Human anatomy and very basic knowledge in non-Humanoid species. His Echani training also allows him to anticipate movements and read body language effectively.
  • Silent Movement: Abric's bodily and spacial awareness and martial ability aid him in moving silently and remaining undetected.

Equipment:
  • Vibroshiv: Abric keeps a 2inch Vibroshiv sheathed on the underside of his wrist.
  • Mask: Abric will keep a black mask that covers his entire face except for two eyeholes attached to his hip. This mask also functions as a breath mask.
  • Vibroblade: Abric straps a short straight vibroblade to his back under his cloak so as to not hinder his movement.

Personality: Abric will generally have a blank look on his face in order to prevent people from "reading" him, but really is not as serious or stoic as his expression is. He prefers to keep everything that isn't business as playful as possible and very rarely gets angry. In turn, he does his best not to anger those around him and tries to defuse tense situations rather than immediately resort to his fighting prowess. When dealing with others, Abric takes on an "if you're nice to me, I'll be nice to you" attitude and tries to ignore those that give him trouble.

However, all of this goes away when Abric decides it does; the niceties end when business begins. Abric takes his contracts and clients very seriously regardless of the job: information, assasination, anything. Once a job is accepted, Abric makes sure it gets done as fast and as efficiently as possible. Because of this, Abric considers every decision he makes with great discretion and never goes back on his choices.

Motivation: Abric has never cared for politics or the like for his entire life. He always kept himself focused on what was going on around him rather than the "huge picture" that was the galaxy. This is why when the Empire decided to welcome themselves in his everyday life, Abric found himself absolutely hating their presence. He slowly realized the strain the Empire had on Boonta as a planet along with its people. Throughout his days, Abric would witness injustices caused by the Empire and the negative effect it had on his small world.

Biography: Abric was the 2nd son of 5 children: 1 brother and 3 sisters. He was the first born on Boonta after his family was forced to relocate from their homeworld, Eshan. While his parents had a traditional Echani upbringing, they elected to adapt to the urban lifestyle of the Shining Gem. They lived in a slightly larger apartment complex - gained through means of intimidation - in the undercity. Rampant crime was part of everyday life and they learned to deal with it. His father spent most of his time at the podracing stadium where he found a practical use of his heightened reflexes and a hobby he loved, not to mention the money it brought in for his family. However, this meant that Abric didn't see much of him. In fact, it was mostly his older brother, Jord, who raised him. His mother spent majority of her time working as security, and though she'd never admit it, as a thug of sorts.

As stated before, Abric was surrounded by his siblings and was found himself aspiring to be much like his older brother. Jord had excelled in grappling when they lived in Eshan which meant Abric was exposed to grappling-based combat as he grew up. After numerous ass kickings from both his younger sisters and his older brother alike, Abric found himself lacking in his combat abilites. Obviously he could go toe-to-toe with any average person, but he preferred to compare himself to his siblings and his parents when they were home. His brother seemed to remain stronger than him despite Abric's efforts and his sisters were always faster. It was during his search for combat techniques that Abric came across an educational holopad of all things. This was the moment his interest in biology came to be.

After soaking in all sorts of information on the human body, Abric began to incorporate it in his sparring sessions. He found that well placed strikes would tire out his training partners faster and absorbing a blow in his side rather than his liver made a world of difference. His knowledge became even more valuable when Jord put the first vibroshiv in his hands. His first job had been a simple one, and the shiv was really only for emergencies. Jord had been in contact with one of the Tionese gangs - though he wasn't part of one - and had recieved a decent sum of money to rough up an informant. Because they didn't want their identities to be found, they took to wearing masks when going out for business. Abric just thought the masks were cool as shit.

Jord had always had an unhealthy desire for money that most likely stemmed from the poor circumstances of their upbringing. At this point in his life, Jord and Abric were known as "enforcers" around the undercity. Though their loyalties lied only to the coin, they found themselves only accepting jobs that contained some sense of justice. Abric had an inkling that Jord accepted the shadier jobs by himself. All 3 of his sisters had already moved out so the two pretty much had the apartment to themselves save for the occasional parental visits. They were never really involved in each others lives. Jord's greed lead to an eventual falling out between him and his brother. He broke the news to Abric of an off world contract, and that was where Abric drew the line. Jord had left his life for good the same day.

Not satisfied with the undercity lifestyle, Abric took his savings and walked out. His reputation preceeded him wherever he moved and he found no problem finding work of similar nature. His affinity for stealth aided him as his contracts become more difficult and his targets became more powerful. It began as simple private detective cases and graduated into finding blackmail-worthy information. Then he recieved his first assassination contract. It paid far more than the informant assignments and the cause seemed just to him. Once the word came out that he was doing that, it wasn't long before Abric needed to start picking and choosing his assignments again. The ones he'd accept without consideration were ones directed towards the Imperials, which landed his masked persona a spot on the wanted list.

It was through this system that he met Rael Tyrn. It started as anonymous contracts for information and the occasional "disappearance" of a particular officer. Eventually, Rael had contacted him directly with a recruitment opportunity. While he wasn't too sure about the rebellion, Abric began to exclusively accept assignments from Rael and found his place in the budding rebellion.

Secrets: His Echani Background

Relations: He maintains a professional relationship with Rael Tyrn.
