I don't have the most time in the world, but I have been really starting to want to do something in the DCU with my own character. This may fit the bill if it gets up and running. I'm toying with something that fits more in with Dark Justice. If the stars align I'll submit a cs when I see a skeleton and an ooc
Still pacing the interior of her apartment Lily suddenly stopped as the radio traffic on her police scanner picked up in a sudden flurry. An 11-99 code went out and Lily hopped from her spot by the window with a rush of weathers her wings carried her across the room to the scanner which she cranked the volume high enough to hear the radio chatter. It was mostly dispatch, a patrol unit and an EMR unit. The original call for service location had been part of the transmission she had missed however her blood suddenly ran cold as the units on scene reported their arrival to Holly’s apartment complex.
In another swift motion Lily snatched her bag from the table and began fumbling in it. One of Moriek’s heads looked up at her languidly What are you- Lily suddenly produced the Labyrinth and pointed the metal cube at Moriek. The hounds heads suddenly all perked up as it was sucked into the cube in a flash of light. “Sorry. No time. You can’t fly.” With that Lily dropped to the floor and wiggled under the bed before pulling her gun from its holster under the bed and hastily jammed it into a holster on the small of her back. With that she hopped from her bed to her jacket which hung from a hook by the door. For a long moment she considered actually using the door but with another pump of her wings she moved from the door to her balcony. Throwing it open she leapt to the railing before launching herself out in the night.
The last of the transmission from the chatter fixed in her mind: two injured...code three transfer to Loom General.
Roof top
Waiting impatiently on the roof top in the rain. Lily tapped her foot with irritation until the shadows around her lengthened suddenly closing in around her as though they were inky tendrils come to drag her to some stygian abyss. Bernael rose slowly from the inky pool to stand before her. The mass of shadow and smoke said nothing as it stared at her with eyes she couldn’t see.
“You found her?”
The shadow thing nodded at Lily.
“Take me there”
The demon reached out and grabbed her wrist. Lily always hated this, as the creature pulled her into the shadows. There was a rush of air and her skin prickled as she was whisked from the rooftop in a flurry of smoke.
Mistakes were Made
Location: Loom’s General Hospital (A203) Time: 5 AM
With a slight gasp Lily exited the shadows in the corner of Holly’s room. Quickly dropped her stance she checked to see that no one had noticed before producing the Labyrinth and sealing away Bernael. Making sure her wings were away and her jacket covered her gun Lily krept over to Holly to check on her. After a cursory look to make she she was in fact breathing Lily scanned the room before spotting what she was after.
Moving across the room she picked up the chair pushed against the far wall of the room and maneuvered it back over to the bedside. Setting it down she slid into it. Producing the Labyrinth again Lily opened it and in another flare of light Moriek was standing once again both of its heads staring at her. One of them looked pissed and the other looked judgemental.
“Don’t give me that look, you can’t fly. Now hurry up and change.”
As the Dog changed Lily finally looked down at her phone and realized she had several missed messages. A quick check of her voicemail while Moriek shifted revealed that the officers had called her after they found Holly. Hanging up Lily turned in time to see Moriek finish changing.
With a shiver Moriek drew its two heads together and with another ripple of its body its coat changed. A few more adjustments later instead of a two headed demon guard dog seated next to Lily it was a black lab with a service dog jacket on. Satisfied that Moriek wasn’t going to scare Holly to death when she saw him Lily seated herself fully prepared to sit watch until Holly was awake. It was a noble attempt but within a few minutes Lily’s head had lolled forward and she was softly snoring with her chin resting on her chest. Moriek opened one of its eyes and looked up at his charge. The tamer was such a funny creature. He could only wonder why he had been given to her to protect her. Pushing away such questions the Styx dog also closed its eyes but unlike Lily he had slept most of the night and now he lay still listening and letting his sense of smell feed him all the information he needed about their surroundings.

Sgt. Maclir
“Identify” The statement came from the other end of the man’s burner phone it was a standard challenge and he was use to it from years of many incredibly professional operational staffers who liked to feel that they were cool. It sort of came with the job Collin supposed as he chewed on the end of a toothpick. The rain was really starting to come down, and the scene in the alleyway wasn’t going to keep. “Niner five one six thirty, Tower requesting advisement.” There was a pause on the other end of the line. “Good evening Sergeant, encrypting and transfering. Priestess is standing by for advisement.” Collin shifted the toothpick in his mouth. Leaning against the wall at the far end of the alley, Collin did his best to stay out of the steady stream of water coming off the roof of the nearby building. The whole place wreaked of life and death backed by the ungodly noise from the club that sat behind the alley.
“Tower, I’m being told that you are requesting mission advisement?” Collin nodded even though the woman on the other end of the phone couldn’t see him. Priestess was Magician’s strong right hand acting on her behalf as mission control for many of the permanent assignments. “Eye, we got a dead girl in an alley behind a pub. Looks like it might be less than mortal means. Got a moment with the corpse, poor lass. Wonderin if our partners here need an advisement before the local polis arrive.” Collin's brogue had slowly deteriorated over the last year but it was still incredibly apparent in his speech. There was clicking from the other end of the line as Priestess tapped away at her keyboard. “By the by, ya plannin to make it back out here anytime soon, lass?” Priestess for all her experience was still in her late twenties and in comparison to some of Tarots members Collin was actually on the older end of the spectrum which was why she accepted the moniker: lass. The clicking stopped “Until Magician is done with whatever has her wrapped up, no.” Nodding at this Collin waited patiently. Again not that she could see the nod.
“You’re in the clear Tower. If it becomes something of note The Bureau will get their notification from local law enforcement. Stay on scene, see if anyone comes poking around. Don’t engage anything though.” Collin scoffed at the comment. “ ‘taint my fault that Gargoyle wanted ah square go ah things.” Priestess could hear the smile in Collin’s words. “Aight I’ll keep my yaks peeled an give ya a ring if anythin turns out”. From her desk in the Citadel Priestess smiled, Collin was Tarot’s newest member but he had more than proved himself within only a year of joining the company. She was rather fond of the Scotsman and it showed in the exchanges over the phone since they rarely saw one another with Collin asigned to Loom.
Location:Loom’s Slums, Alleyway to Club Ambrosia Time: 5:45 AM
“Its me again….Yeah we got a wee lass pokin round the scene. Dunno who she is yet, ahn don’tcha worry I won’t do naught that you wouldn’t do.” Collin clicked off his phone again and pocketed it to go back to taking another drag from a cigarette. He rarely smoked now a days since he knew eventually it would catch up with him but the scene in the alley had put him on edge and the old habit helped to settle him. One day he would kick it. Same day he retired for good.
Ey, Tommy got something is going on. Might have some work for you. No doubt the professor was sound asleep but if this turned into something they might need him.
Location:Loom’s suburbs, Thomas Finch’s loft Time: 5:48 AM
Rolling over the young doctor picked up the phone on his desk knocking the now empty tumbler on the desk to the carpeted floor. The haze from the whiskey was wearing off slowly. Peering at the phone owlishly the professor thumbed the text and looked at the sender. Colling Maclir. No doubt they had some new strange test they wanted him to run on some sample that they refused to tell him what it was.
Keep me posted
Sending the text Thomas rolled back over and tried to reclaim the barely present ghost of sleep he had been enjoying. The rain continued to splatter against his window pane and even with its repeating pattern Thomas could not find the sleep he had just so recently claimed. The rain had calmed him once upon a time as it reminded him of home. Now the rain reminded him of home and it kept him awake. Questions turned over in his mind as always, if only that storm would quiet long enough for him to sleep. They never did.
Location:Loom’s suburbs, Lily’s studio apartment Time: 3 AM
The brush strokes paused long enough for the young woman to look up at the splatter of rain across her window. It was lovely and it helped with the painting which was of a large old church. Perhaps it also needed rain. As she sat thinking about it, it occurred to her that perhaps she needed some outside assistance. Without looking at the clock Lily picked up her phone and thumbed through the contacts on her list. Holly. That should do, the detective seemed to put up with her the best of all her coworkers and seemed to be willing to humor her oddities. As the phone rang Lily stared absently out the window. For her, if the painting wasn’t finished it wasn’t time for bed, and until such a time clearly there was no one else who could be asleep or otherwise busy. It wasn’t so much that she was inconsiderate as much as it was that she was genuinely failed to realize the time of night or day when she was absorbed with a piece of her artwork.
Frowning as the phone rang out Lily resolved to wait to see if she called back. As the voicemail finished its prompt Lily inhaled and started in on what was no doubt about to be an overly lengthy voicemail.
“Hey so I wanted your opinion on something. I’m working on this painting for one of the college’s displays and I’m having some trouble deciding on if I should add rain to it. The night is just sort of going that way and it's an old church so I was thinking maybe you know it might not be a bad idea? I really can’t decide so I was thinking maybe you might have an idea on the matter I could really use a second opinion...so yeah call me back thanks..” Lily trailed off before realizing that she should probably hang up the call. With that she set the phone down and stared at it for a long moment. Part of her really wanted to call again, maybe she had just not heard her phone. After a long moment of debate she finally quashed the idea and pursed her lips.
“Nothing from you huh?”
The comment was directed at a dreg skinned dog lying on the ground next to the doors to the balcony. It raised its right head and looked at her with incredibly intelligent eyes. Its left head remained decidedly on its massive paws eyes closed though one of its ears was up as though listening absently. You didn’t ask. You are aware that it is three in the morning right? Lily looked at the dog, looked at the phone and abruptly turned bright red. “Oh shit!I hope I didn’t wake her up!” The dog gave her a rather long look while its left head looked smug though it was pretending to sleep. I suppose that the detective is probably aware of your idiosyncrasies and will no doubt call you in the morning. Lily didn’t like the sound of that. Getting up she began to pace in front of her art. “...you don’t know maybe she’s up...maybe she has a guy over...maybe..” Lily trailed off while the Moriek put its other head down and did its best to ignore Lily as she paced. No doubt she would be up until someone broke the cycle for her. The demon knew better than to try.
Description: The towering Scotsman comes in at a staggering six foot three inches and weights close to two hundred and thirty pounds of hardened muscle on a stocky frame. Collin barely qualifies as handsome from behind his brown close cut beard though no one can accuse him of being on the front of any magazines. Much like his beard the ex military man wears his hair in a flat top cut close to his head leaving little purchase for hands, claws, or other less easily described appendages.
Not one for suits Collin preferes slacks and a leather jacket complete with a dull colored berrett whenever he is out as a civilian or looking to blend in. The jacket largely serves to conceal his service weapon which rides on his right hip most of the time.
No one is sure what Collin looks like in dress clothes, not even Collin which is largely due to the fact that any sort of formal function is an opportunity to put on his army dress uniform as he is still officially a reserve member of Her Majesty’s Army. Though Tarot has made sure that he will never be called out for any sort of operation until he retires or his killed.
On operation Collin wears grey and blue fatigues with a single adornment; the roman numeral sixteen on his left shoulder. Over this he wears a varying set of gear though of late he has been using Flak jackets akin to SWAT gear on operations in Loom largely due to the local and weapon options of those who are opposed to the Bureau.
History: Born in Scotland to an ex army officer and her husband Collin was the oldest of three children, with a younger brother and a younger sister. The young Maclir led a relatively ordinary life until the age of seventeen when his parents agreed to let him join the army. This choice in career was expected of the oldest child who planned on carrying on his family's tradition of military service. Spending a year in infantry Maclir quickly distinguished himself as an excellent soldier and was reassigned to one of the countries finest special forces units: SAS. During his time with SAS, Maclir distinguished himself as a member of a black operations unit which saw actions in the middle East, South Pacific, and South America. At the end of six years with SAS, Maclir was offered a position as an operator with SRR, the finest reconnaissance and black operations company in the British military.
During Maclir’s time with SRR he served another six years as a commando doing reconnaissance in dozens of countries across the world. With what he saw and what he did Collin returned home less and less and his family drifted further and further from him.
The end can suddenly for Collin Maclir, an operation known as Sullen Twilight. Officially the operation was never sanctioned and there are no records of it ever occurring. A black bagger mission, Sgt. Maclir was assigned to a joint mission between MI6 and SRR. The six man team was tasked with recovering an asset from a village in Morocco. Maclir’s team went in to secure the target and what happened next is only known by the single survivor: Maclir. Maclir still refuses to speak about the operation to this day.
After a month of recovering the in the North of Scotland, Maclir was approaches by a woman calling herself Priestess. Four days later Maclir had moved to a new location in Scotland, The Citadel, headquarters for the British based mercenary group known as Tarot. Tarot had an opening that they had been looking to fill and Maclir’s recent tragedy had caught their attention. Sullen Twilight had gone sideways because the SRR team had contacted a supernatural threat. Tarot was aware of the outcome of the mission and approached Maclir as their organization specialized in handling the supernatural.
After settling in to Tarot Maclir proved himself once again and for the next four years operated as a solo and team operator on behalf of Tarot in countries across the world on behalf of governments, corporations, and private individuals handling supernatural problems. Once again Sgt. Maclir would face down a decision, Operation Molten Blade. Collin, now known as Tower, was dispatched by Tarot to a rural portion of Ireland just outside of Trinity college, it was here that he and the operators: Hierophant and Chariot. The three were to eliminate a demon named Vaasriel who had been killing and consuming civilians. The police assumed it was a serial arsonist but the three operators knew it for what it was: A slag demon. When Collin and his team caught up to the beast it had just killed a young woman who they later learned was the wife of a professor at Trinity college who was away on a dig in the Nile delta. The team destroyed the demon and returned to Tarot. Six months later Tarot was on the brink of being outed by the unaware professor who was digging into his wife’s murder. With the blessing of the organizations leader: Magician, Collin extended an offer to Dr. Finch, the husband of the woman Vaasriel had murdered. Sure enough Dr. Finch agreed to assist the organization in exchange for their help in finding who murdered his wife. Feeling responsible for the death of Kathleen, Dr. Finch’s wife, Collin vowed to help Thomas come to terms with the world they were living in. In direct opposition to this Magician ordered Collin not to reveal the nature of the world to Thomas. Until now Collin has managed to do just that; however much to Collin’s dismay, with his new posting to Loom, Dr. Finch moved to Loom as well. Now with the professor dogging his every step and with the questions about what research Tarot has him doing Collin has grow increasingly pressed in his position as the new Tarot liason to The Bureau in Loom.
Abilities/Skills:
Ex-SAS: Sgt. Maclir is an incredibly well trained soldier having served with distinction in Her Majesty’s Royal Army for well over a decade. As a result of this training and experience there are few who come close to Collin’s combat marksmanship, urban combat, and stealth reconnaissance skills.
Physicality: Not only is Collin big but his frame carries almost no excess weight. With his transition from a military to a private contract organization, Collin has become less burdened by the day to day needs of the job. As a result of his new found freedom the ex-SAS soldier has begun devoting increasingly large amounts of his time to combative training resulting in fantastic health for a thirty-five year old male of his size.
Malleus Maleficarum: With his transition to Tarot, Collin has received thousands of hours of training in dealing with supernatural predators and antagonists. This includes exploitation of weaknesses, proper unit tactics, and in depths analysis of background of supernatural targets. This also extends to Tarot’s armory which has an extensive collection of anti-supernatural gear as well as fields more than its fair share of supernatural items. Collin has extensive training on each piece of Tarots supernatural equipment as such items are only rarely cleared for requisition by operators. Magician has the final say in such matters.
Counterinsurgency/Counterintelligence: During his time with SRR, Sgt. Maclir received a significant about of training in Counterinsurgency tactics as well as urban reconnaissance as part of an undercover team. This training was also paired with mandatory training on working alongside MI6 operatives who were more often than not the assigned handlers for missions giving Collin a solid background in field based counterintelligence. While Collin rarely has a call to use most of this training it has made him quite effective at concealing what exactly he is whenever he is on scene for intel collection on potential Tarot operations. Anti-personnel Operator: For all his time doing more delicate work Collin specializes in wet work. Tarot hired him based on his proficiency for clearing hostiles from operational zones as part of securing assets, extracting assets or eliminating high value targets. To this day Collin is still one of the best at what he does which may be one dimensional to many however his country trained him as a killer and now he is paid quite substantially to put those skill to work handling the supernatural.
Notable Belongings:
SA80A3- On the high end of British standard issue rifles the SA80A3 is the current iteration of the Royal Marine Standard issue rifle. Collin keeps the rifle in excellent working condition though it has been rare of late for him to operate on mission with this particular piece of gear largely due to the fact that Tarot has only sent him on mission with Bureau cleaning crews to observe and provide as needed fire support.
UCIW- A highly compact rifle built on the AR-15 frame the NATO round chambered rifle serves as Collin’s primary firearm on mission in Loom. With a significantly shorter frame and barrel than most rifles the UCIW is ideal for operating within buildings and on the streets of Loom.
Browning HP- Collin’s primary side arm is the Browning High Powered pistol chambered in 9mm. Rarely used though always present the handgun almost never leaves Collin’s hip unless he is dispatched on a mission that requires a more concealable firearm.
Combat Knife- Another rarely used piece of equipment Collin’s knife serves as more of a comfort than anything else as most of Tarot’s targets tend to be targets one should not engage in hand to hand combat with. Regardless of this fact Collin’s knife has had one modification made to it: it is now sports a layer of silver which is maintained between missions as it deteriorates from use.
Ammunition- Courtesy of Tarot, Collin has access to a large variety of ammunition for use on missions though of note is Silver Nitrate rounds which are specifically for use against demons.
The Citadel- The home base for Tarot, a massive imposing fortified complex that extends several stories above and below the earth. It has been almost a year since Collin last returned to the Citadel however this fortress is the training ground for all of Tarot’s twenty-two solo operators as well as a host of other operational staff and team based operators known as Knights. Codenamed for the Major Arcana the Citadel’s operators currently stand at a count of twenty with the only two vacancies being: Temperance and Empress. The entire operation is run by the enigmatic Magician who, much like her codename, is one of Tarot’s mages. The solo operators of Tarot are drawn from the world's best special forces units from across the globe as well as from paramilitary agencies. To date Tarots roster boasts members draw from: SEALs, JGSDF, Mista’arvim, Australian SASR, Sa’ka, GGK, OKK, and GAFE to name a few. Currently Collin is one of two British operators employed by Tarot however the other is a MI5 agent who is a part of Tarots operational command as opposed to a solo operator.
Name:Dr. Thomas Finch Age: 28 Gender: Male Race:Human
Description: A tall lanky man with stringy muscles and a strangely youthful appearance, the academic lacks the bookish appearance of one in his station. Sporting dark brown hair and a mildly disinterested look, the Professor is decidedly handsome without the muscle of someone who works out regularly. Thomas prefers untucked button up shirts and jeans, shoes are typically optional. When the Professor is called upon to teach or perform in a professional setting however he prefers black slacks and a black jacket with a white button up. Beyond the classroom and outside his home the professor has taken a liking to a long black trench coat and a longshoreman's cap. On very rare occasions the professor has been known to put on a well prepared suit or even a tux however the occasions are rare indeed.
History:
Thomas is an anomaly to most as they view him as exactly what he appears: a quirky professor from Trinity. A professor with a penchant for sticking his nose in others business. While many respect him, the majority of people do their best to avoid the history professor as his intelligence has an unsettling effect.
Prior to his wife’s death Dr. Thomas Finch was a professor of Archeology at Trinity College in Ireland as his genius had allowed him to complete three doctorates and landed him a job as a tenured professor at Trinity. During this time Finch was obsessed with mythology and magic in ancient cultures, leading dozens of expeditions that his colleagues considered to be rather foolish as they thought he was looking for fairy tales.
Finch focused much of his time on the death and creation myths of many of the cultures he studied. While exploring a site in Greece Finch discovered what he suspected might be proof that ancient civilizations may have actually had some form of magic though the find eventually proved inconclusive. When he finally returned from a two year sabbatical to Trinity he discovered his wife, a former student of his, had been murdered. Kathleen O’heir. A striking beauty with fiery red hair and a laugh that caught Thomas’ heart. After Kathleen was out of Thomas’ class the two were briefly engaged and then married in the Ring of Kerry. The three years Thiomas had with Kathleen were the best of his life. When he left Trinity to go on his sabbatical he left Kathleen to finish her studying at Trinity. Lazarus promised Kathleen that when he returned they would travel the world and be together. Thomas had just inherited his family's fortune and he no longer needed his position at Trinity. When Kathleen was killed Thomas sunk into a stupor before finally deciding that there must have been more to his Wife’s death.
Thomas search for answers finally caused him to cross paths with Tarot; a UK based paramilitary organization that confirmed that he was right about his wife’s death and that there had been something strange about it. The organization agreed to help the Professor in exchange for his expertise in Chemistry and Biology, his other doctoral degrees. With Ireland and his home behind him Thomas took to drinking regularly and moved to Loom at the behest of Tarot. Unbenounced to Thomas, Tarot has been using his skills and knowledge to attempt to unravel the mysteries of Demon and Angel biology to better allow their operatives to take on these new threats that the organization has come to terms with.
While Sgt. Collin Maclir is Thomas handler in Loom, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the Tarot operator to keep the genius professor in the dark about what he is really working on.
Abilities/Skills:
Savant- Dr. Finch is a Genius level Polymath with an IQ well beyond 125. The Professor had completed his doctorates by the time he was eighteen and his expertise extends to a variety of fields beyond archeology, anthropology, chemistry and biology into the realms of philosophy, music, language, physics and medicine to name a few. This is all supplemented by an eidetic memory.
Musician-In addition to his staggering intellect the professor is an accomplished musician playing the violin and piano with near perfect precision capable of composing and transcribing by ear alone, Thomas has more than earned his reputation as a renaissance man.
Artist- Dr. Finch has a wide spectrum of talent in art including: sculpture, painting and freehand drawing to name a few.
Student of History- As a professor of Archeology, history and anthropology Thomas focus included Greece, Egypt, Japan and the Aztec of South America.
Kung Fu Fighting- While Thomas is no more than a regular human, he is a master of Wing Chun including Chinese and Hong Kong derivatives of the art. Fully capable of handling himself in a fight the Professor has only ever been called upon to use his skills a handful of times making him largely untested in a fight.
Modern Knight- Thomas has extensive training in medieval european swordsmanship as well as Kendo and Iaijutsu. While Thomas is quite excellent with a katana or a longsword the knowledge has so far been solely academic and for exercise as he does not wear or carry a sword and has never considered doing such a thing.
Marksman- Another largely academic skill the professor is proficient with rifles and pistols. Until recently this skill has been maintained as a form of fun however with his time in Loom and with the Tarot the Doctor has been issued a sidearm much to his distaste and dismay.
Elementary my Dear Watson- While he is hardly a trained investigator Thomas is incredibly observant and as a consequence of this little escapes his notice. This factored into Tarot’s decision to bring him on as the academic is incredibly well rounded in his ability to draw conclusions from facts. Though Dr. Finch claims, Mr. Holmes will always be the superior detective as Thomas’ skill lies in the theoretical.
Notable Belongings:
Notebook: A simple leather bound notebook, Thomas records many of his own thoughts and observations in the omnipresent notebook.
Springfield S-XD .40: A single stacked .40 Springfield handgun that the Doctor carries when he is out with the Tarot Liaison in Loom. The Doctor objects vocally to this and as a result has had no need to use the firearm.
Finch estate: Thomas Finch is independently wealthy being the son of a successful businessman and woman who made the vast majority of their fortune in the import/export business out of Ireland and the UK. In addition to this the Professor owns the equivalent of a modern Castle in Ireland though he is never there.
@PsyKick Approved, bellow are my thoughts. They don't necessitate any immediate changes so much as IC things to keep in mind.
“The Gate Keys if brought back together and the correct ritual is performed, then it is said the Jewels will open a rift in time and space to a dimension the Mysar designed. A library of all knowledge collected over a thousand years from generations all mastering the art of Shadow Craft.”
I am okay with this personally, however when Synth gets back we should talk because he has a race of Demons with a Library EXACTLY like this. So it might be worth exploring a connection. You will find that of the three of us there are lots of little lore fragments floating around that we are happy to integrate with you so if we go “oh hey cool idea, I have this little thing from before let’s work it in together.” We aren’t holding out on you, there are just a lot of those little pieces that may appear as time goes on.
“ The Gate Keys due to the amount of essence vibrating inside them, can also be used to strengthen an individual wearing one. It is not through physical attributes that one will feel stronger, but it is through mental fortitude on the grounds that the Gate Key's increase the individual's vibration and the increase in vibration gives their essence further elasticity and strength to be used with the mind.”
I imagine that these are also INCREDIBLY powerful vessels since it sounds like they contain both the Auras and Cores of literally hundreds of incredibly powerful mages. So I imagine they could also be used as Vessel for drawing essence from to power spells.
Two other Notes:
1). You may wish to consider where the Mysar learned magic. I have a race of Demons with VERY similar powers to these mages called Shades. If you would like you’re welcome to come up with some sort of shared history or lore. Or I can just pound sand and they can be a unique lineage.
2). I have a character that I am holding out on rewriting until an event that I anticipate happening close to the end of this season (knock on wood). We should talk when I write him since he will be VERY interested in this lineage of mages.
Beyond that I see no issue with the character other than that when it comes to possessions one of three things happens: 1) the demon wins, eats the hosts soul and takes over their new meat puppet. 2) the demon is cast out in which case the host reverts to normal. 3) the two fully merge creating a new being. I’d like to see a little more detail on the possessing demon as we continue forward as well as how powerful it is (Hellion or Warden. My thought is probably close to Warden given the demons title)
Name: Haniel Asellio (Alias) Lily Nakamura (Birth name) Age:32 in her current incarnation. Gender:Female Race:Angel Sub-Class:Tamer Angel
Description: A well shaped female of mixed descent Haniel is a flyweight Tamer angel. Despite her age she still earns the description of ‘cute’ from most who come into contact with her. While she has naturally wavy hair Haniel takes the time to straighten it almost every morning, and maintains it long. While her features are largely caucasian the color and texture of her hair combined with the color of her eyes and skin tone give away her japanese heritage. Most don’t notice it beneath her choice in loose clothing, dresses and jackets but Haniel has and impressively lithe form for a Tamer angel which is a result of her secret hobby: amature boxing. To the average eye however the paint splotches, absent demeanour, and general good natured appearance of Haniel make most believe she is exactly what she looks like: a junior college professor of art and art history.
The term girlish can often be used for Haniel’s choice in clothes as she favors jean jackets, loose blouses and sundresses when she can get away with them. When forced to Haniel prefers skinny jeans and comfortable t-shirts.
For the few unfortunate enough to witness her on mission for the council Haniel confines her hair into a severe french braid and makes use of black cargo pants, grey pull over five eleven long sleeves shirts and black body armor fitted to her wings.
As of right now none of Haniel’s friends or associates can recall an instance that they have ever seen her in something one might consider relieving or formal for that matter which leaves many to simple guess at what she might look like were she to try, though unbenounced to all Haniel has her own collection of dresses which include variations on traditional asian dresses, her favorite of which is a red and silver Cheongsam.
History: Officially a ‘Surface’ angel Haniel was born to Riko Nakamura and Mary Ann Rowe, both of whom were heaven born Angels that relocated to the surface and ended up in Loom. Lily was brought into the world three years after the two of them were married, the child of a Tamer and Battle angel. Riko passed right after Haniel’s twentieth birthday, until she finished her training as a Tamer Haniel had been told that Riko had passed in an accident but in truth Riko had died on mission for the Council as he was one of their senior Battle Angels in Loom at the time. Haniel has never been privy to the specifics of the mission as she is a stationed Tamer that is called on by the Council on an as needed basis rating only need to know information.
Lily’s upbringing was decidedly middle class as her father worked executive protection and her mother was a part time art therapist for several clinics in Loom. When she wasn’t working with Loom’s mentally ill, Mary Ann was teaching her daughter how to paint and how to begin to use her powers. In addition, Mary Ann took to tutoring her daughter at home until the age of fourteen when she began attending a private school in Loom. Following her High school education, Haniel was taken on as a potential operative for the council due to her parents and her latent abilities. While Lash passed the training, she only excelled in her ability to locate and control demons, barely passing in all other areas much to the disappointment of her father and the council. As such Lash rated an on call assignment in Loom though it didn’t prevent her from running down some nasty surface demons and Hellions over the next decade.
After her father’s passing Mary Ann was reactivated as an Agent of the Council and moved away from Loom leaving Lily on her own in the city. With more time than she knew what to do with on her hands Lily took it upon herself to go back to school and in record time had achieved a Master’s degree in Art with a focus on forensic facial reconstruction and police sketching. Initially Lash had considered a position working a police sketch artist however she quickly found she still had much time on her hands as the position she acquired in Loom was a on call position. A year later she found herself teaching Art for one of Loom’s junior colleges and living a relatively simple life.
Over the next decade Lily would be called on by the council well over a hundred times to bring in high priority offenders due to her incredible talent with her powers over demons. Though regardless of this Lily has yet to be considered by the council for anything more than as a particularly powerful asset to be called on and set aside as they need her.
Six years ago Lily was deployed as part of a recovery team looking for a Hellion Demon dubbed Valefor, a Spine Slayer from the edge of the Eastern Jungle the Demon was the pinnacle of physical predator and magic user. Officially the Council has no record of how the Hellion made it to Loom but during the recovery operation Lily was certain that the Council may have had a hand in the demon making it onto the streets. Consequently, Lily claimed the Demon as one of her own after the operation much to the irritation of the Council recovery agents that went with her to apprehend and destroy the Demon.
Following an extensive chase through the slums of Loom the recovery team took three loses as it became apparent that the hunters were actually the hunted. With Valefor picking off members of the team like a slasher horror film Lily was finally able to confront the Demon face to face in an after hours park two blocks from an inner city school. The Demon went on to injure two more members of the team before Lily was able to subdue it fully and when the team was prepared to execute the Demon, Lily refused to let them. To this day Lily still maintains control of Valefor.
By far one of the most dangerous Demons that Haniel has ever been called upon to apprehend. Bernael was a member of a race of Demons known as Shades. The Council opted to start looking into Bernael a decade prior and for good reason, the Demon was mimicking middle management bureaucrats and business men and women to move exorbitant sums of money. On its own the embezzlement was not a problem however the Demon was torturing the humans he mimicked into killing themselves before he took over their lives. Due to Bernael’s combination of abilities the hunt for the Demon last well over three months as Lily was forced to go from potential suspect to potential suspect and only finally caught up to Bernael as he was convincing a member of the city treasury department to drown herself in her own bath tub.
What was even more disturbing to the Tamer, when she finally caught up to the Demon, was that the Demon was not mind controlling or possessing his victims. Bernael was simply pushing them to the breaking point by taking on their appearance and disappearing before their very eyes to make them think that they were going crazy, while appearing to their friends and family to assure them everything was okay.
Haniel would have been more than alright with the council executing Bernael, however given the Shade’s abilities and capabilities the council ordered Lily to keep control of the dangerous demon for use on later missions.
One of Haniel’s more recent acquisitions, Moriek is a Styx Dog, largely suspected to be the origin of the Greek myth of Cerberus. As part of a team of Angels dispatched by the council Haniel encountered Moriek when they raided an auction for semi sentient Hellions and Surface Demons being sold to private citizens and companies for use as slaves. Instead of terminating the two headed telepathic demon Haniel decided to keep Moriek as one of her Demons. Moriek is the first of Haniel’s Tamed Demons that the Council has had no opinion on as they view Styx Dogs as nothing more than glorified scavengers and guard dogs used by more powerful demons.
During the raid on the compound where Moriek was found, the dealer managed to escape and is considered to be the only currently open case file on Haniel’s list of case files. As a result of this case file Haniel is still on standby for a potential mission from the Council.
Abilities/Skills: Tamer- As a Tamer class angel Haniel is capable of psychically compelling demons to follower her commands. This ability is limited to line of sight however it does not actually require Haniel to be able to see the demon, simply knowing it is present and near enough to her Haniel is capable of compelling the demon. Not having direct line of site due to obstacles or barriers reduces Haniels ability to compel demons. Being able to physically contact Demons greatly increases Haniel’s ability to compel the demon in question.
Haniel is capable of Compelling up to Warden class Demons with direct line of site however it is limited to a single Warden at a time. Haniel can compel up to three Hellion Class Demons without significant effort though her powers become significantly less potent beyond three Hellion Class. Haniel can compel up to a dozen ordinary Surface Demons at once however her powers have never been tested against a powerful Surface Demon or any more than a dozen of them at once. This gap in her tested powers stems from the fact that the Council never trained or tested her beyond this point as the fact that she can subdue Warden Class Demons was all the Council cared about. It is currently unknown if Haniel can compel a Lord of Hell as her power has never been tested against one, however the general consensus of her instructors is that were she capable of doing so it would require physical contact and it would be marginal at best.
Haniel’s powers do not extend beyond line of site and anything outside of about 600 yards is almost impossible for her to compel with any noticeable effect. Long term commands and conditions issued by Haniel only deteriorate over time and it is largely dependant on how long the demon has been under her control, how powerful the demon is, and how close the demons proximity is to Haniel.
Wings: Haniel sports a set of powerful medium sized white wings. While the wings are white the feathers themselves upon closer inspection are actually a type of owl feathers making Haniels flight significantly quieter than that of other angels. Due to their relatively compact size Haniel is capable of retracting them in a hurry. Consequently this is why she prefers dresses and jackets.
Combat Training: Haniel has the equivalent of an army boot camp supplemented with urban combat training and a series of more specific training course for dealing with demons. Haniel’s training includes proficiency with handguns, rifles, shotguns, along with impact and bladed weapons.
Boxing: While Haniel has received intensive training in mixed martial arts as part of her council administered training Haniel has never been anything more than average at it. After settling in to her new life Haniel found herself a hole in the wall boxing studio and started training. Officially she is an amateur and her record shows it with 21 wins 15 losses and 8 draws. To the untrained eye Haniel’s record is poor however the slight, lithe, tamer angel has survived over fourth fights with a positive record using only her fists.
Artist: Haniel is a phenomenal artist and instructor with her preferred medium being pencil and paper. Beyond her obvious skill Haniel is also a capable art Instructor and teaches at the college level.
Police artist: Beyond her normal artwork Haniel works as a police sketch artist and is excellent at recreating faces based on the skull shape and articulation. Due to the fact that she is not always needed by the Loom Police department Haniel is an on call employee.
Notable Belongings:
The Labyrinth- An artifact made for Tamer angels by human mages for the council. The Labyrinth is a small metal box which is capable of containing demons of up to Warden strength however, Haniels has never been tested to such a limit. Currently the only residents of Haniel’s Labyrinth are Valefor and Bernael. The Labyrinths max capacity is based upon the power of the Demons held within it. Haniel’s Labyrinth is capable of holding up to three Warden Class Demons, according to the Council Quartermaster who issued the artifact. Haniel was told it was created as a tool for Tamers though Haniel suspects it's original purpose was to trap a single Demon Lord though to her knowledge it has never been used.
Tactical Gear: Haniel owns a set of tactical webbing, military quality body armor, earpiece, radio, and other urban field operation gear.
Glock 19 semi automatic handgun: Haniel's sidearm of choice, a fifteen round 9mm handgun. Council issued as Loom sits squarely in France.
M-4 Automatic Rifle: A standard issue Colt rifle, Haniel’s primary on mission firearm. Also Council issue.
Mk-3 Navy Knife: Standard issue American navy operation blade. Haniel’s primary CQB weapon.
Loom Loft: Her parents home was a Town house on the west side of Loom, after her mother was moved Haniel moved as well into a Studio Loft on the Northside of Loom right outside the Suburbs. The apartment is one part painting studio and one part secret tomgirl hideaway with the vast majority of its interior playing host to a collection of purchased and completed artwork alongside her own heavy bag and free weights. For all her adorable exterior and admittedly petite frame the flyweight artist rarely slacks on her workout. To anyone foolish enough to raid her fridge it's all too apparent why as Haniel has a taste for coconut pineapple ice cream.
@Fallenreaper I suppose that depends on if I find the energy. The time may perhaps be in abundance shortly. A new job has appeared and perhaps it may be what I settle into for the better part of my life.
Also. Stalking me. Really? Typical Fallen. Though I have missed our conversations. If you have made the switch to discord just PM me on here and I am happy to send you my info so you have a more direct means of doing so.
