No you don't need an Origin Story, just give a little info on what your character is doing before getting a note to go to Gotham and then kinda make your way to the coordinates on the note, which lead to a warehouse near a harbor.

Well I don't see why they can't have the same mother, maybe one of them were born at a different time. And we do not know if you are accepted or not. Key hasn't made his final choice, so I would say wait until he says something before changing anything.
