Oh yeah you are allowed to be outside the "soldier" background. I mentioned earlier that any of the non-combat roles aboard the ship are allowed, so a ship's doctor is a massive yes for me. Whilst I imagine most people are going to take the people who go on the ground to investigate and do shooty shooty stuff, this is about the crew of a ship, so if you want to provide the on-board crew work as a background/starting point like that and then transition into a more hands on role as it goes on I am all for that
So my character would still be Primary Cast, and not a NPC, but I could start off as the Ship Doctor and then slowly like help out with bigger stuff. Hahaha,
"So I know you have been treating our wounds, but we also need someone to slam a man into a metal wall and blast him out in space"
Define "Outside"? Just so I can answer it correctly
I was kind of hoping to get outside of the "soldier" background. Like I get that is the whole premise and what not of Shephard, but like that's what I mean, like maybe I want to be our Dr. Chawkas, but turns out they are a powerful biotic. Something like that.
I'm just finishing up my legendary edition playthrough as an engineer and once ME1 is over it secretly becomes the most fun class for me to play. Melt armour, shields and biotic shields in an instant it's mental
I'll be honest I like rag dolling people off cliffs. Problem is, if only the game acknowledged sometimes that they were dead. I had a glitch in ME 2, where I had launched someone off a cliff, but the enemy didn't die, so he was hanging out in No Man Zone. And my entire team just kept trying to shoot at the floor.
I am going Human Adept.
The question is, how outside are we allowed to go with characters?
Not just yet, I am very tempted by the whole non Marvel non DC comment. I love me some Vertigo comics Dark Horse Comics. I am also waiting to gauge if you get any more interest before I commit. Sorry I have a pretty busy schedule and I have to make sure I am not joining to many RPs, and still be able to do what I need to for my own career. :D
He smiles, but his eyes look sad. Simone seems to the type of person to cling onto his past sometimes, still choosing to clothes that imitate his vestments of the past. Of course there are embellishments, you wouldn't get Simone without embellishments the cuffs of his shapeless robe thing he wears has lace wrist cuffs, and the robe clearly sits at his shoulders exposing his white turtle neck embroidered with a flower design in white string so its barely seen. Simone has a habit of probably wearing more rings than one person is allowed, often have a ring on mostly every single finger. Which probably is a distraction from his dead fingers, that are blackened at the nail bed and the tips of his fingers. His hair is actually a silvery, powdery platinum blonde, which is evident when you notice the blonde highlights in his hair. But there is a total lack of melanin in his eyes by their ruby red color. He's also not the tallest of guys, standing at 5'5" pretty some girls tower over him, he's also exceptionally thin, and frail looking. The only true piece of jewelry on him from his past, is his cross, made of silver, black quartz, and amethyst.
"I will never really know what I judged for or why I wasn't granted either permission to enter Hell or Heaven. I feel unworthy of both places. Instead I have been exiled. I no longer hear His words. Yet, I long for something or perhaps someone with the devotion that I placed in Him. Now I am trying to figure out the meaning of my own life."
Simone seem almost afraid to make friends with others, he diffuses the situation often times with a well placed joke or some other form of witticism. Though he can sometimes go too far with his playful teasing of others and it can start to come off mean, when Simone is merely trying to awkwardly fit himself into a group that he feels uniquely disconnected from. Probably has something to do with living in a cave for a long period of time. When he is being generally kind, which is his usual disposition, Simone can be caring for others who get to know him and put up with his defenses. He is almost devoted to the few friends he makes, to the point it comes off as subservient people pleasing. But the truth is whether it is friend or partner, Simone shows he cares through acts of service. He can be genuinely creative, making hand made gifts for the few people who put the time into him, he usually hand sews clothes. But if you're not asking for an outfit, he'll bake cookies. On his bad days, Simone can be cranky, and a bit cold. He is distant with his emotions with others and also doesn't always feel he needs help from other or he will reject help from others entirely. He can be downright moody sometimes, often sniping at people and lashing out. And is often self destructive when he meets failure or feels he has failed a task or someone. As a perfectionist he holds himself to high standards, probably too high. Standards set on a jenga tower, that when he doesn't meet these impossible feats he can meltdown quickly. With that said Simone tries his best to handle himself, so that way he doesn't burn bridges with others. He just burns himself instead.
History
Born into Catholicism, in the 1500’s in England. Baptized and taught at a young age, it was expected of Simone to take his Father’s position as priest when his Father passed. Which Simone did in 1556 at a relatively young age, which did cause some uproar within the village he was born. How could someone so young, still learning, still being educated himself, have found the voice of God? His Father had been roughly working as the Church’s Priest for nearly 39 years, who suddenly passed.
Growing up Simone’s family life was relatively devout and served God with the utmost care. His parents were relatively strict and firm. While they may have not been physically abusive, they put an immense amount of pressure on him to be responsible, disciplined. There were expectations of him to meet even at a young age.
When Priesthood was turned over to him, still an adolescent at the time, his Mother’s expectations of him increased. She became even more firm with him. In fact a lot of the time, Simone was expectant of following exactly in his Father’s footsteps. The villagers of the town he grew up in were unkind to any sort of change, despite Simone’s own growing self.
Simone was known over time as someone who may be more sympathetic for someone at his time. He saw the Church as a way to forgive and heal those who may have committed wrongdoing in the eyes of God. And there were rumors among the Church. And the people of the village that Simone may have had a hidden secret. Rumors that he may be a man-woman.
Losing his Mother in his mid twenties, he inherited her cross. Or really she gave it to him on her death bed as a memento. And while Simone wished she wouldn’t have been so strict, and pushy with him, he accepted it because she was the only Mother he knew.
Without his Mother and Father around Simone grew more into himself. His own beliefs and how he interpreted his own doctrine. This displeased some. As he argued against punishing those others deemed as heretics. He argued that God would and could redeem them. Which angered many. They complained he had too kind of a heart. They complained that he would be the death of them. Simone ignored it, free for the first time of his parent’s control and whispers in his ear, Simone began to grow more independent and how he embraced the doctrine he had devoutly followed.
It was not ideal to be a free thinker in the Church at the time. While still conservated, and traditional, he was still too progressive at the time.
After a while, the criticism died down, there were some folk who didn’t like him, but they accepted him nonetheless. They hadn’t much choice. He was educated, well read, and he might be a little innovative for them. Unfortunately things wouldn’t last, as he fell ill at 27. It started with a fever and a dry cough. It would be soon realized that he had caught the white plague.
He continued on his work either way. With no children of his own and no future plans of who was to take over when he met his end, he wanted to leave the people behind with as much information as he could. And to continue to spread the word of forgiveness and healing.
While being turned into a vampire was not the trauma of violence. He might have accepted the offer differently if he were in a different state of mind. One day a stranger came into town. Simone had always been friendly and open to visitors and travelers. This traveler claimed he was a Doctor, a Doctor who could hear the word of God. And that God told him to travel and cure people of their illnesses. That his medicines were more advanced than what was currently out there.
The truth about the Healer Phillip was that he was a vampire. A vampire Simone was unaware of. Phillip was the type of vampire, who watched his victims for a while before contacting them. Learn about them and know exactly what to say. He was a master manipulator, who used his medicines to convert humans of interest into vampires.
He claimed to Simone that God told him to seek him out, to reward him for his efforts. That God wanted to give him a second chance at life. So he may plan for the future accordingly. This did not mean Simone took the offer right away. He was hesitant and unsure. Truth is Simone probably subconsciously felt it was a trap, Phillip who saw Simone’s hesitancy backed off.
But he came back. A second time. Then a third time. Simone’s health in the meantime declined, as he was ravaged by the white plague. All Phillip had to do was wait. To take advantage of the lethargy and the fatigue, Simone too succumbed to decline his offer. The third time, Phillip came, Simone agreed. Reluctantly. Perhaps, he was being too cautious if this were the word of God. Maybe the further decline was God’s way of telling him to accept the offer.
Taking Phillip’s medicine, bottled in a vial. He gave no information to Simone about what it was. Instead he was told to trust in God. The medicine, bitter, and tasted of iron. It was then that Simone realized what he had accepted.
He begged Phillip to give him the truth. Though Phillip never truly did. And soon the morning after Simone's health had improved. Though it soon began to come clear to him that it came at the cost. Was this the will of God? Vampirism? Was this a test?
Soon when the sensitivity to sun came. And the hunger for blood. He wasn’t sure what was worse, the gasping for air, the coughing, the fever, and night sweats. Or the craving of blood. Why had God condemned him? If the medicine was the will of God to cure Simone of his disease. Then why had he converted him into a demon? Was this just another test?
Simone was well educated, and knew of different practices. Decided to journey, assigning the second in command to him as the Priest, while he sought to pilgrimage and lock himself away in hopes to spiritually be closer to God. Perhaps, what God wanted from him was to hear him. Perhaps, he needed to meditate, and God would end his punishment.
What sin had Simone created? Should he have turned down the stranger? Or was it because his own spirit flowed masculine and feminine? What had God deemed he had done wrong to punish him?
In 1568 on a religious pursuit to be redeemed by God, Simone wandered, fighting the urge to feed, or really he locked himself into a vault, where he waited to hear the word of God. He stayed there meditating, waiting to hear the word of God in order to ask him for his forgiveness. Over the course of three hundred and eighty seven years, of which he was unaware of that much time passing, Simone subsisted on small animal blood. Like rodents, and snakes. It’s what kept him alive.
What woke him from his meditating was the sound of the vault opening. When Simone awoke, it was in the 1950s. Specifically 1955. The world had changed. There were strangers investigating the vault, he fled as to not be discovered by them. But years of isolation, and subsisted living left Simone weakened.
He felt truly abandoned by God. Once he realized how much the world had changed without him. How long he had been in that vault. With no word. It is probably then that Simone felt abandoned. He felt like God had turned his back on him. Simone realized then that he was merely conned into this life. That there was likely no word of God.
It’s then he decided to embrace his change. In 1955, it was the first time Simone fed on human blood. Draining his victim dry due to the intense hunger he felt.
Now Simone just wants to make sense of who he is. He’s been aimlessly wandering with no purpose after he woke. He wants to find a purpose. People who love him. Friends perhaps. If he has been given another chance at life, then, what is that chance?
Outfit for the Party
Instead of a beautifully decorated masks Simone chooses to wear a tragedy mask, that completely covers his face. And after a complaint from some of the others, that he cannot wear his normal clothes that look like vestments in the party. He chooses to wear a dress of his own design:
Other:
It is probably well known that Simone makes his own clothes, and is willing to offer his services to those who ask. If you need a dress or something fixed, most go to him, he is more than willing to help. If it wasn't obvious he no longer is a follower of the Catholic faith. Despite him clinging to a sense of his old identity, it was a large part of who he was. Simone probably leans agnostic, though he doesn't believe in God. He does believe there is a greater magic to the world. He's probably more spiritual now than he is religious.
