The year is 2067, and as of then, everything was going fine. A science experiment had been leaked onto the news- time travel. Victor, the best scientist at the time, had discovered a way to make time travel a possible thing. He worked full time on the idea that had came up, but it was harder than expected- having to take care of his son, Ekko.
After working on a few prototypes (which a lot of them have gone wrong), Victor has managed to make the first time travelling gizmo. It worked a little weird, it needed a way of power to function, perhaps friction. But nonetheless, it worked. But having a time machine to just stay there in the corner of the laboratory isn't in any way helpful, so, the scientist used his latest invention to see what the near future looked like. What wonders lied upon his hopes and dreams? Well... everything he didn't want to see.
It was catastrophic. Man kind had been erased by a virus of some sort. It was like a television show that became real, but worse, cause it
was real. Without a word, the man left and came back to the present- thinking about a way to prevent this unthinkable reality. He tidied up and got to work.
3 Months of hard work and dedication to find a way of curing the possible threat upon them, and it has been done. The possible cure was created, and without much way of testing, it would have to be put away until an opportunity arose from the desert of possibilities.
And so, there it was. A test subject had been found. The results after the experiment were... interestingly scary. Instead of healing someone, it corrupted their brain cells so that they could be controlled by some kind of organism. This had to be studied more, so they kept the test subject and observed it from time to time.
Weeks later, the subject escaped from the lab via security system failure. It was terrible! Having a thing like that roaming around freely is a horrible thought to have in mind. Victor was shocked. He had thought about what he had seen, and came to the conclusion, he could have been the one to cause all of it. He rushed over to a nearby security station and wanted all guards and drones alike to stay alert.
No sight of the subject, and yet, something had to be going on. A "creature" can't just run of like that and just fall asleep or something, right? Sadly, that's not what happened. After discovering that there where more than 40% of the city's population infected, roaming around without the thought of it. It just kept going on and on, until it finally got everyone. Days have passed, and the city had more than 75% of it's inhabitants corrupted. Everyone was falling prey to this disease, created with nothing but a good intention of purifying an apocalypse. Only ended up doing quite the contrary to it's idea- it
made the apocalypse.
With everyone in the city infected but Victor and his son, he told him to run, go somewhere else but there. A sad moment for both of them, as Ekko's father had been attacked, with those being his very last words... But Ekko had to run. He took the time traveling gizmo his father had made, along with a neon-fiber bat- to protect himself; "The Timewinder", as he called it. A boomerang with the capability to pass through anything, and still deal quite heavy damage- most on the way back; and a enhancement that had been made to a smoke grenade which whenever Ekko was inside the range of the projectile's area, it would freeze time for a second, but not for himself.
Running away in tears, the youngster headed into the wilderness. Hopes and dreams crushed by a simple mistake. The moment of his father's death, would be remembered forever...
Now, in 2071, all of the world was infected- except a select few. These people would fight their way on through their lives, as a team. Not knowing if there were more people who were still alive, they would steal every last resource they'd find. They are now heading towards a tower they have found, still intact to this very day. High hopes of finding food and med kits, they sneaked without a sound to there and shut the doors slowly.
