Where are all of the Xmen games? Deadpool just came out on video and Xmen Apocalypse is about to come out. I was expecting more hype.

Just out of curiosity, did the movie confuse anyone else? The first time I watched it I thought they had somehow recaptured River. The Second, that they retconned Jubal Early grabbing her (after all, "Heart of Gold" was the only episode after that and it never aired. It would be an easy change to make). It was at least the 3rd or 4th time that I realized that that was a badly retconned flashback of the original rescue.
@OfWindAndRainActually, their personality could be a bit different from the show, as they lost friends, fought Reavers, etc. three months earlier. Simon is also dating Kaylee now, which could change him. That means that if you don't quite get the personality right we can explain it away.

Edit: also, River and Simon aren't fugitives any more.
@OfWindAndRainok. Not sure how to help with that.
Sounds like a good excuse to rewatch the show. As if you need one.
You could also watch clips of them on youtube to brush up on their personality.

I rebooted it in case anyone wants to join.
As Serenity started its landing on Persephone, a signal came through from the surface. Not taking her eyes off the various sensors at the pilot's station River reached over and hit the button to accept the signal. She glanced at the screen just long enough to see who it was and returned her attention to landing the ship.

"Hello, Badger," she said, not looking at the screen.

"Well if it isn't my favorite girl in this system." he responded.

"I'm sure you say that to all the girls." she said, mostly ignoring him. He had been flirting with her in one form or another since they had first met. "I'm about to hit the atmosphere, so if you have something to say, make it quick."

"Sure. Tell your Captain to come see me. I got a job for him."

"Oh. Is he going to get stabbed so that he can move cows again?"

Badger immediately went on the defensive. "Look, I was just the guy that found the contact and arranged - meeting. It --- my--- he----" The signal cut out as the ship entered dense enough atmosphere for the ship's speed to generate enough heat to garble all radio transmissions to and from the ship.

Mal entered the bridge from the crew cabin area and saw the screen with a "call ended" screen on it. "We got a call?" He grabbed on to the co-pilot console as the ship vibrated from the entry turbulence.

"Badger. Said he had a job for you. Hopefully it's more fun than getting stabbed and hauling cattle."

"Well, I wouldn't be too picky about moving livestock, but the 'getting stabbed' part wasn't exactly fun."

The ship had shed enough speed for them to be subsonic now, and the heat dissipated enough for the radio to clear up, so River activated the radio. "Eavesdown Docks, this is the Firefly Transport 'Serenity' requesting permission to land."

A few seconds later a man's voice came over the radio. "Firefly transport 'Serenity', you are cleared for landing at pad 94."

"Pad 94, acknowledged." she said, then ended the call.

The Captain activated the internal comms. "Attention everyone. We will be landing at the Eavesdown docks in approximately 15 minutes. All passengers, please be packed and ready to depart as soon as we land. Thank you." When they decided to pick up passengers at that last drift, Inara had arranged to do some business of her own on Persephone, so she would be leaving for a day or so as well. Plenty long enough to find out what Badger wanted and refuel before she got back.

The job seemed easy enough, and the take good enough that the Captain had no problem accepting.

The mark was a club on Persephone owned by a retired Alliance Captain. It was a middle class lounge style bar, the kind of place respectable Alliance officers and business people would go to relax after a long, hard day of telling other people what to do. It was the kind of place that would dislike Serenity's crew simply because of their politics.

The plan was simple enough, though. The club was running a "Battle of the Bands" contest this weekend to find new talent to perform there, with the winner being guaranteed at least 10 Saturday nights over the next year. Some of the crew had entered as "Mourning Serenity", a low-key band which wouldn't draw suspicion when their "Manager" Malcolm Reynolds started wondering around the club asking questions. Badger had informed them that the owner kept a safe in his office that held over ten thousand platinum every night, the club's income, which badger would split with them 50/50, and the contest would likely double that.

"Mourning Serenity?" said the stage manager to the crew gathered there to be part of the band. "You're on next."

"Thank you." said Mal, then gave them a brief pep talk, perhaps taking his "manager" job a bit too seriously.

Once they were on stage, though, he made his way off the stage and over to the bar near the office. They had got a brief look at the security the night before when they had went through the tryouts. There were a few extra bouncers, but other than that they shouldn't have any problems getting the manager away from the office after things died down. He was a bit of a womanizer, and could easily be distracted.

From the stage, River spoke. "This song is dedicated to our manager, who brought us together and is helping us make our dreams come true." After a few seconds of music at the beginning of the song, she began to sing, distracting the club-goers and staff long enough for Mal and the others to begin the plan.

We will basically be picking up Firefly where it left off. Three months have passed since the "Miranda Incident" and the Alliance has started to crack down on anti-government "radicals" and Independence sympathizers.

I'd prefer to only control NPCs, but will control unclaimed crew if I need to.

River's telepathy will be limited to surface thoughts and feelings.

We'll be Serenity's crew, maybe with a few additions. I would prefer that these additions be characters that we've seen before, but OCs will be accepted if they feel like they'd fit in well and are well written.

I labeled this "episode 1" so that when/if we finish it we can continue the RP with a new plot tied to this one, and change players if need be.

Taken Characters:

Malcolm Reynolds:
Zoe Washburn:
Kaylinette Lee Fry:
River Tam:
Simon Tam:
Jayne Cobb:
Inara Sera: (Maybe isn't crew, or is with a customer currently)
New Crew 1: (NPC from the show)
New Crew 2: (NPC from the show or OC)
New Crew 3: (NPC from the show or OC)
Thinking about trying to restart this.

I'll write up a new OP tonight, a flashback to when they got the job, to give us more context.
@Blade17done
@alexfangtalonI forgot to have the heroes respond to you. I'll edit my post to include it.

@blade17you want me to control Flash?

Try as he might, Killgrave could not make it past even the first level of security on Barbara Gordan's computer. It was password protected and, when he tried connecting the hard drive to a laptop a man a Best Buy "generously gave him for free", he found out that she had locked her own hard drive behind a password and a complex encryption. Clearly he was in over his head. He'd have to find a slave to do it for him.

There was a strange sound, like blowing wind, behind him and he turned around to find a man in armor and a green cape who was wearing an orange ring similar to his own yellow ring. "Doom." he said, sizing the man up. "How fortuitous. You're going to help me out."

"Doom works for no one, and your petty powers will not work on me." he said in a deep voice, "but if you have information that is of use, Doom will spare your life for the attempt at enslaving me."

"Impressive. Not many people can resist me." The Purple Man motioned to the computer. "This computer belonged to a slave of mine that knew about my ring." he held up his hand to show the ring, "and probably yours as well. The computer would contain more information, and everything we need to know about this world."

Doom walked by him and placed his hand on the keyboard. Text scrolled across the screen faster than a human could read it and ten seconds later the computer let them access it. Windows opened and closed on screen quickly. "Orange lanterns," he said. "Interesting. I can create duplicates of my enemies to battle for me. Useful."

There was a noise at the window and the two of them looked over to see a man in a purple suit with green hair and a white painted face. "Good morning, gentlemen. I heard someone else was occupying the place and thought I'd stop by to say hi." He slipped the crowbar he was carrying into his jacket.

"I've already faced one of this world's "heroes". She was strong, but no match for Doom." Doom said.

"You work for me now." said the Purple Man. If Doom killed this clown he would lose a potentially valuable slave.

"Of course," the man in the purple suit said, seeming almost pleased by the "job offer". "I'm the Joker. Who do you want killed?"

"No one for now." Killgrave said. "I need information."

"And more servants, if we are going to be at odds with this "Justice League"." Doom said. He went back over to the computer and touched the keyboard. "I need to find someone else who is intelligent enough to be useful as more than cannon fodder, and who has the resources to help us."

"Lex Luthor," the Joker and Doom said in unison.

Doom looked at the Joker. "So you do do know enough to be useful. I will go meet Lex Luthor and recruit him for our alliance." he looked at the Purple Man. "Get us some muscle, in case they attack." He pulled a brick-like device from his belt. "Motherbox, send me to Metropolis." The box beeped and a tunnel through space opened, which he stepped through.

"Nice. I wouldn't mind having one of those." Killgrave said.

"You want me to steal it from him?"

"No, he'd probably just kill us both for the attempt. We'll have to find another one. For now, I'll need you to find me some more slaves, just don't let them know that they are my slaves. Bring them here. I'll study the information on this computer."

The Joker nodded and climbed back out the window, onto the fire escape, as Killgrave sat down to study this new world.

Star City

A man with a quiver on his back and a bow in his hand fired an arrow at Cupid, then leapt off the roof of a nearby building, spinning around and firing a grappling hook arrow into the side of the building, then letting himself down slowly. The woman move to fire at it but it popped open, revealing a boxing glove which hit her in the face, knocking her down.

Once on the ground he hit a button on the bow and the arrow disconnected from the wall, returning to him. He put the arrow back in the quiver and turned around, revealing his blonde hair and goatee. "So, we got another Green Lantern? About time we got a woman. Canary will be happy." He walked forward and put out his hand. "Green Arrow."

The female archer started to get up and Green Arrow grabbed another arrow, firing it at her feet. The arrow stuck into the concrete and start releasing a fog. "We'll talk later. Follow me." He fired the Grapling arrow again and pulled himself up tho the roof again, running towards the city's industrial zone by jumping from roof to roof.

Central City

"Red Lantern?" the Flash said, noticing the ring. A red lantern that was this angry could be too much for him to handle. He tapped his earpiece. "This is the Flash. I need immediate backup. There's a Red Lantern with some sort of magical powers." He started running in circles around the man as he waited for backup. It could take them almost a minute to get people down here, which to a speedster was an eternity. Thankfully, a few seconds later someone joined him. Another speedster in yellow.

"Hey Barry," Wally said, joining the now-forming cyclone beside Flash, and talking at super speed so that no one else would understand them or even hear them clearly over the wind. "So, a Red Lantern. Today is not your day."

"Well, my morning workout was getting a bit boring. Decided to spice it up. So, you take high, I take low?"

"Works for me," Wally said, and they rushed him, Wally aiming at the burning skeleton's face and Barry sliding at his legs as if he was a baseball player sliding into a base.
