Bio

Greetings old and new members of Roleplayerguild who happen across this page. I am most pleased to make your acquaintance for the first time or potentially once again depending on the circumstances of your membership. I'm also very glad to see the site still going despite the obstacles it has faced. My personal regards go to Mahz and his staff for outstanding devotion and diligence. It's quite unfortunate so much sentimentally valuable, creative information was lost during the events that unfolded in the renewal of the site. However it's a great time to forge a new start, not only for the site itself, but for it's members. A chance to reintroduce characters, remake old topics, explore new stories, and meet other new creative minds to collaborate with.

With that all said, I would like to officially reintroduce myself. I am Thread Generator SIN, formerly Sin Productions. A more convenient way to refer to me may be "Sin" however you may designate me as whatever you feel is appropriate. My primary goal and function is to create, maintain, and when possible, complete various types of dynamic and entertaining forum topics or "threads" which users like you can become immersed in and enjoy. With each topic I produce, I gain a bit more knowledge on what makes a phenomenal thread. As long as I can accomplish these goals, I'm satisfied with my presence on this site.

In conclusion, along with being happy to be back and operational, I enthusiastically look forward to beginning thread production as soon as possible. Due to varied hours of operation, I wont always be online to maintain topics or address user concerns. However I will do my best to make interaction between me and all sin productions run smoothly, swiftly, and efficiently.

Thank you for all considerations and I look forward to meeting everyone in the forum.

Introduction

Year 3250

Over a thousand years ago, A species, previously thought to be nothing more than myth and legend, awoke from a millennium long slumber and revealed themselves to mankind. While given many names, they would ultimately come to be known as the Dragon Shifters. These creatures were fearsome in strength and nature, possessing the capability to take on both human as well as dragon likenesses and wield cataclysmic powers on par with that of natural disasters. A single warrior of their species could lay waste to an army of militarized humans in moments. Modern weapons proved to be nothing more than minor annoyances. Powerful, resilient, and almost impossible to defeat, the Dragons became an overwhelming force to be reckoned with, bringing with them the dawn of an apocalypse.

For many years, Humans struggled to resist the oppressive advances of the Dragon Shifters, uniting across all nations to throw everything humanity had at the threat that bared down on their species. Militias world wide cooperated for the first time in human history in an effort to fight back. Advanced war machines and weapons of destruction like none ever seen before were constructed. Soldiers from all classes and creeds gathered under a single flag. The largest war effort imaginable began. Most called it world war three. But sadly, to the Dragons, these efforts were futile at best and proved to be little more than a nuisance. Humans were seen as pests. It was as if they were nothing more than insects who had taken over the house while the owners were away.

With each confrontation between humans and Dragons, swaths of society were wiped from existence. Soon, finding themselves outnumbered, outgunned, and pushed into a corner, the humans finally lost the fight. Leaders fell, armies became disorganized, and civilization as a whole crumbled beneath the might of the earths new dominant lifeform. Surviving humans were scattered. The majority of them having been exterminated, the sparse remnants of mankind fled into hiding deep underground, back into the caves from in which their ancestors evolved. The majority of mankind however, having been captured, were forced into slavery. With the reclamation of the planet, and a new species on the top of the food chain, the restructuring of civilization in the likeness of Dragons would begin on the backs of humans.

With the passing of the next millennium, Dragon Shifter kind populated the world and society was rebuilt. Kingdoms formed. Magic flourished. The seeds of technology were planted. Human slaves are commonplace, found in most any dwelling, palace, or establishment. Domesticated, farmed, bought, and sold, humans are a nothing more than a commodity to Dragons. They beckon to their will and live in service to their every whim. Wild humans who know freedom have been reduced to a myth.

The dragon shifters believed they would rule forever. They assumed mankind would never fight back. They scoffed at the idea of the humans regaining any hope or taking back their world or their freedom. However, there was a prophecy among surviving creeds of humans. One long forgotten to many of them. One day, a hero would emerge, with a power that could defeat the dragon shifters and free their world from the dragons tyranny.

In the dark of night, under the gaze of the full moon, heralded by the howl of hounds, the savior of man rises.

The Nations of the World

Northern Nation - Empirical government. Dictatorship. Matriarchy. Strict policies and rules. Higher class societies. Larger gaps between rich and poor households. Militaristic views.

Eastern Nation - Empirical government. Patriarchy. Conservative policies and rules. Societies are governed by systems of pride, honor, ritualism, and spiritualism.

Southern Nation - Democratic Government. Diverse societies. Lucrative. Trade focused economy. Rich culture focused on creative expression.

Western Nation - Wilderness. Tribal. Nonexistent government. Minuscule and spread out population. Many hermits or splinter societies governed by spiritualism, sacrifice, and combat.

Subterranean Nation - Thought to be myth. Mostly wilderness. Proto-Human population. Diverse governmental systems and hierarchies spread among splinter communities. Economy revolves around scavenging, salvaging, bartering and trade. Culture/views/values/belief systems are diverse and often varies from dwelling to dwelling.

Species Types

Dragon Shifter - The dominant and most abundant species on the planet. Dragon Shifters posses the ability to transition freely between humanoid and dragonoid forms.

Human - Once the primary and ruling life-form on earth, Humans have remained mostly unchanged through the millennium. Their numbers vastly reduced and controlled by Dragon Shifter Kind. They now play the role of the subservient caste, serving as nothing more than tools of convenience and servitude to the Dragon Shifter Species.

Neo-Human - Humans Bred during the post Aeon Age with refined traits the better suit their individual uses within Dragon Shifter society such as enhanced strength and endurance for labor focused humans, more intuitive cognitive functions and response times for service industry humans, and aesthetic mutations such as unconventionally colored hair, eyes, and skin or the genetic integration of animal like features such as tails, ears, or wings for companion humans.

Proto-Human - Humans descendant from those who escaped the clutches of Dragon Shifter rule, retreating to massive underground ruins and caverns where they have survived throughout the millennium, slowly rebuilding and repopulating. Many proto-humans have mechanical or runic augments throughout their bodies to supplement any defects or health issues developed though lack of exposure to sunlight and a hostile environmental conditions. Proto-human society has learned to use a mismatched collection of salvaged technology, ancient and new magics, steam power, and primal human techniques to adapt and advance themselves covertly and completely without knowledge of Dragon Shifter kind, proving to be little more than any other myth like those of Atlantis.

Hybrid - In spite of highly taboo and illegal it is, there are rare instances of Dragon Shifters taking human mates. The product of these relations are known as Hybrids. Many Hybrids don't survive birth, the delivery of some even being fatal. However there are few that do survive having unpredictable ranges of abilities and often having varied amounts of both humanoid and dragonoid features ranging from something as little as a set of horns or scales to cases as extreme as being mostly draganoid or even having the ability to shift between the two.

Golem - Any autonomous constructs forged, assembled, or molded through magical or mechanical means. Found in both man made and shifter made varieties, as well as coming in many different shapes and sizes. A Golem's level of sentience comes in just as many varieties and range from mindless completion of simple tasks to complex levels of thought, emotion, and expression.

Proactive Character Sheet Format

There are three different character sheets per character. Your public version, proactive version, and private versions. Public sheets consist of the basic minimum amount of information. Only first name/nick names, initial appearance, and a first impressions type description. When the roleplay begins and unfolds, you will then add and update a secondary proactive character sheet piece by piece throughout the story. This will add a bit of mystery to each character. However much information you would like to be available in the beginning is up to you as well as the rate at which you reveal further details about your character. Finally, you must submit a fully detailed and declassified character sheet to the mods via private message containing a thorough account of any and all information pertaining to the character in question. Everyone is limited to 3 active characters at any given time. If a character dies, they may be replaced by a new one.

Proactive Character Creation

When creating a character, there are a few things to keep in mind;

1 - You don't have to go into detail on your character's background, history, powers, etc. Nearly all information will be revealed dynamically IC; as long as you submitted a fully declassified sheet to the GMs, the rest can be learned over time in the IC.

2 - That said, be creative! There are a lot of liberties you can take with your character creatively and as long as they fit in the world, they are allowed.

3 - The limits of your character are up to you. Strengths and powers range anything from a human with no powers to a demi-god level dragon capable of destroying cities. The majority of everyone will be somewhere in the middle.

4 - Having the most power possible is not vital to every character, and even a human wielding nothing but a sword is capable of greatness. A battle can be fought and won with clever planning just as easily.

5- Combat is never going to be "I have more strength, power, and intelligence therefor I win." Get a feel for each battle and be respectful of opponents, even if someone's character seems inherently weaker than yours.

6 - You are encouraged to ask for help if it's needed and ask questions if you have any! We all want to have a good time and craft and fun and entertaining story for everyone to participate in and enjoy.

7 - Public Character sheets posted in the CS section must start with a minimum of a Name or nickname, an image or description, and a brief overview of your characters personality and information. After receiving approval from a GM(and the roleplay has started), you are free to being posting in the IC. Once you are officially a member of the roleplay, you may update your character sheet as you wish as long as it does not deviate from the declassified version you sent to the GM's.

A mysterious, pale haired woman with fair skin and pearly eyes. She gives off a menacing, caroasive aura and can be heard constantly muttering to herself. She never wears the same expression for longer than a few moments and seems to be touched by madness. In spite of her rather off putting demeanor, she dawns elegant clothing and jewelry.

Before I start, yes, this is an interest check for a roleplay. But before I tell you about the actual roleplay or what it's about, I have new character dynamic to introduce. You could say it's like I'm showing off a game with a new mechanic.

Let me present to you all an idea. A popular concept used throughout all mediums. Something I have yet to see done in any roleplay I've read or participated in. Lets entertain the idea of a cliche used in story productions far and wide. The notion of a "Grand Reveal" or "Ace in the hole" moment. I want you to think of your favorite movie, cartoon, tvshow, book, anime, comic, and/or video game. Do you recall any egde of your seat, cliffhanger type moments where someone surprises everyone by possessing some never before seen ability or knowledge that helps them save the day. Or you find out a side character was actually someone of great significance hiding in plain sight. Or one of the good guys turns to evil/villains become good. In any story, the concept is the same. The curtain is drawn back slowly, revealing the deep secrets and intricacies of the story that you don't get to see on the surface.

Now, why do I bring this up? How do we apply these ideas in a roleplay setting? Well whats the one of the first things you do when joining any roleplay now a days?

You fill out a character sheet.

Character sheets allow GM's to properly moderate and balance a roleplay as well giving everyone who participating an idea of what to expect from each others characters out of context. They prove to be essential, serving as something of a tool or reference guide. The concept roots back to tabletop roleplays like Dungeons and Dragons; where players created a character who fit the world and rolled a dice for stats before the adventure began. If you played with a team, then you usually referenced each others characters and their skills when making your own. The concept of a character sheet is undoubtedly a solid one, and let it be known I'm not trying to speak out against them or anything. That said, let me get to the point.

Being that when everyone in a roleplay throws mystery to the wind when they go in depth describing their character in full detail via a character sheet, what if we instead used a proactive character sheet? What the hell am I talking about? I'll explain.

Your typical character sheet for lets say a fantasy roleplay usually looks something like this:

Name -
Age -
Gender -
Race -
Appearance -
Personality -
Powers -
Weapons -
Bio -
Other -

Seems pretty standard right? You've filled out one of these probably dozens or even hundreds of times by now. Well I wanna change thins up a little bit. This might sound like a bit much at first but hear me out it probably sounds more complicated than it actually is. I want to entertain the idea of using, not one, not two, but THREE character sheets.

"Three? wtf is this fool talking about? How are we supposed to have any mystery with THREE sheets? Pure madness. Unsubscribe"

No no no hear me out. There is a method to this madness. Let me tell you about these three sheets. Here's the first:

Name -
Appearance -
First Impressions -

That's it. This first sheet is the prelude to the idea. A sheet with the most bare minimum of information. This would be your public character sheet. In other words, the sheet everyone who visits the character section of the roleplay will get to see. Lets disect it really fast.

Name - Lets say you only reveal your first name. Or maybe a nick name. Or maybe what people know you as. Or maybe you're on a "fomerly known as" basis. Either way, you would put that here and if you so choose, hold out on revealing your full name.

Appearance - What your character first looks like to everyone. Pretty straight forward....UNLESS! Maybe your character wears a cloak, or has a second form, or in one way or another has more to them than what meets the eye. That being the case, you would put their "first" form here. Get it? You get the opportunity to save your "final" form for later.

First Impressions - A very brief, bare bones description of your character and how they might seem to someone who only just met them. Things a stranger might pick up on after being in the same room with them for five minutes.

The first things you notice about any character in any medium are usually the most simple of things. Often times you are only presented with what the character looks like. Think back to pretty much any show that comes to mind. With the exception of MAYBE the first main character, when the show introduces new characters, you as the viewer are usually shrouded in mystery on who they are to the story. It inst until you've watched for an episode or two that you get an idea of who they are.

Now I did say 3 character sheets, so lets look at the second:

Full Name -
Age -
Gender -
Race -
Full Appearance -
Additional Forms -
Personality -
Powers -
Weapons -
Bio -
Other -

So now we have a traditional sheet. BUT, instead of having all the information available right away, we would instead use this as something of a stat sheet. Something you will be constantly updating as the roleplay unfolds. Normally, any roleplay with a stat sheet typically starts you at level 1 with a base amount of strength, health, mana, etc. Depending on the speed of the roleplay, you update these things proactively, in most cases subtly increasing them. So your character sheet has a set of stages.

Stage One Day 1
Name -
Appearance -
First Impressions -

Stage Two Day 4
Name -
Appearance -
First Impressions -
--------
Full Name -
Age -
Gender -
Race -
Personality -
Bio -

Stage Three Day 9
Name -
Appearance -
First Impressions -
--------
Full Name -
Age -
Gender -
Race -
Full Appearance -
Personality -
Weapons -
Bio -
Other -

Stage Four Day 16
Name -
Appearance -
First Impressions -
--------
Full Name -
Age -
Gender -
Race -
Full Appearance -
Additional Forms -
Personality -
Powers -
Weapons -
Bio -
Other -

You probably get the idea. So, after all that, what could I possibly mean by a third sheet? Well the third character sheet would be the fully declassified, standard version with all the information filled out and every detail included. This character sheet would be the one only you and the GM see(via private). As the roleplay moves along, you basically will be transferring information from the third sheet to the second proactive one. In effect everyone has the opportunity pull off that grand reveal.

And that was my big point. I want to add a little mystery to this roleplay from character to character. You will all have the chance reveal your characters at the rate you see fit. Keep that special power or ability up your sleeve til the last moment. Have that final form. Have SECRETS for the first time in a roleplay and do so without pissing off a GM. What do you think? Interesting idea? I hope so cause that was just the idea for the character sheet. Now for the actual story! Don't worry it wont be nearly as complicated of an explanation.

-----------------

Story Premise

This was just a random idea I had one day.

It has been 1000 years since dragon shifters took over the world. The humans are forced to serve under them, whether they be slaves or just servants. The dragon shifters are now the dominant species of the planet. They are powerful and strong, almost impossible to defeat, or so many humans thought for years. The dragons make the humans do all the work that they themselves do not desire to do. Humans cook for them, clean for them, grow their food, take care of the farms and livestock, entertain them, as well as many other chores that one can think of.

The humans had fought back during that struggle 1000 years ago, but sadly the humans lost the fight to due their lesser numbers. They soon lost hope as the years passed, fearing that this was life now, the way humans were to live for the rest of eternity even if they did manage to fight back. They felt helpless. All hope was gone in their eyes. There was nothing to do that could help them, or so they believed.

The dragon shifters believed they would rule forever. They assumed the humans would never fight back. They scoffed at the idea of the humans regaining any hope in regaining their world, their freedom. They had won that struggle 1000 years ago and they do not intend to loose what they have taken from the humans. The dragon shifters would make sure the humans served them for the millennia to come, and then some. The dragon shifters thought little of the humans, whom they considered a worthless species.

However, there was a prophecy, one the humans had long forgotten about. One day, a hero would emerge, with a power that could defeat the dragon shifters and free their world. This hero would banish the dragon shifters once and for all and the humans would have their world and their freedom back.

One night, under a full moon, when the wolves all howled at once, that was when the hero would arrive and the prophecy would begin...

I have worked together with @Vampiretwilight on this concept and have developed it more thoroughly. After a few days of brainstorming and creative deliberation, we have come up with a timeline and some in depth lore.

The Dragon Shifter concepts pertains to characters who have the ability to freely swap between Dragon and Human forms.

These Dragon Shifters now rule over the earth, while human society has been reduced to slaves, forced to become a subservient species to the new dominant one. Roles for both Human AND Dragon will be available.
