The ride down in the trolley was slow and silent, save for the grinding of the trolley against the wire it rode on. Maria sat against a wall, the puffiness of her jacket making it very comfortable, which was why she had brought it. Seeing how strung-out the skinny man next to her was, she unzipped a pocket and removed a small, pink hard candy, with translucent pink wrapping paper. "Candy? It's homemade. Passion fruit flavor!" She said to him with a smile.
Whether he took it or not, Maria settled down in her corner. Her jacket felt like a blanket being wrapped around her, and she gradually dropped off into a light doze.
BAM!
Maria shrieked as her eyes flew wide open. For a moment, she wasn't really able to process what she was seeing; then the fact that she was staring at a huge, bestial monster, at a Grit, a Grit who was staring back at her, hit home. Instinctively, she whipped out her notepad and pencil, and wrote down what she liked to call her "Air Mine" sigil, which was three wavy lines surrounded by a circle. She thrust the sigil into the face of the Grit on the ceiling, causing the sigil to emit a blast of air directly into its face. Whatever the results, Maria took whatever time she had to shout "Run!" and sprint as fast as she could after Kat and Vincent. "Wait for me, guys!" A faint crackling could be heard as she ran from the elevator, though it quickly faded from hearing.
