Bumping this to say that I'd rather do system.
@Tojin

My school does offer subjects pertaining to the arts. We've got Theatre Studies, Music Performance, and two or three visual art subjects. The classes for these are pretty small though, only 8-12 students I think. Actually, I think Theatre Studies has only 5 students. In our final year every subject adds to our final overall grade, so you're unlikely to join these subjects unless you're REALLY into it, as in you practise every day and are prepared to make a gigantic portfolio at the end of the year. The school offers IT and Literature classes usually too, but not enough students signed up the year before, so my year level isn't allowed to do those :(
But yeah, generally the people who do these art subjects don't do the more number-based subjects. Majority of students do 1-2 sciences and 1 maths subject. The students doing art are usually more into the humanity subjects, like History and Legal Studies.
I'm aiming to get into Engineering when I go to uni, so to get a good final score I don't really have the option of doing an art subject.
But man, I would kill to be able to do Visual Media at school. Sounds cool as hell.

Man. I'm sorry, but your school sounds kinda boring. =P

And yeah, from what I've heard from my friends, Contemporary Visual Media is pretty cool. Especially since the teacher that usually teaches it is a massive nerd, so she encourages debates about the material.

Also, what's IT?
Aw man that sounds fun. We get 5-6 subjects for final year but we don't get cool stuff like Chorus and Creative Writing. Do you get to leave the school during Scholastic Lab?

Sorry for the late response, but no, we don't get to leave the school for Lab. We do pretty much the opposite, actually. Everyone in a given Scholastic Lab class basically sits in the classroom and does homework, unless they need to talk to another teacher or use the bathroom, or something like that.

Man, not having stuff like Chorus must really suck. Do you have any "fun" classes like that, or is it just purely academic stuff?
So we've got a bit of interest on the recruitment pages I opened up but nothing solid yet. If they are serious, I told them they could come here and introduce themselves.

Yeah, sorry about that! I've had an unusually busy week lately, and it doesn't look like it'll let up until this weekend, so I haven't had much time to actually post here, much less make my character. Hopefully I'll have more free time starting Saturday, so I can start on my character.

Also, hi, everyone. I'm the new blood. =P

I understood like a third of that. Do you have to do seven subjects in total?

Okay, so basically, I have 3 classes that are required for seniors to take, which in my case are Calculus AB, AP Government Honors, and AP English Literature. These are the core classes.

The other four classes are electives, which means they're optional classes that I choose off a list. Mine, if I remember correctly, are Honors Chorus, Contemporary Visual Media (AKA watch movies and then talk about them), Creative Writing, and AP Geography Honors (which is the how, why, when, where and [sometimes] who of civilization as a whole, AKA fun shit).

Finally, Scholastic Lab is a class where literally all you do is do homework for other classes. It's pretty great.

And yes, I have 7 actual classes, then Scholastic Lab. All of them are about 1 1/2 hours long.

Hopefully that cleared it up some! =)
Nah, I'm in my second-to-last year right now.Senior year is actually lining up to be pretty easy for me; my schedule is 4 electives (with only 1 requiring any actual work outside of class), 3 core classes, and Scholastic Lab (AKA study hall).

Everyone's still alive, don't worry. It's just exam season. 'Tis the busiest time of the year.

Oh good. My exams aren't for a few weeks yet, so what happens is that I see nobody posting and go "OHMYGOD THEY'RE ALL DEAD".
...So this thread hasn't been touched in 3 days. Anyone still around?
This looks pretty neat. I'm in.
