Vamyr Turambar

Ellaryn Bracegirdle

(And a Thurin Cameo)

(complete with a taste of Aelin)

For the second time that night, Vamyr bolted upright at the poke in his side- throwing the tent canvas off and gazing up at the wizard standing over him for a moment, before groaning and dropping back down. His horse took the side of the wizard however, and shoved Vamyr off. It stood and shook the canvas from it's back. "Traitor." The guardsman sighed and stood, stretching and cracking his back. After shaking out the canvas and rerolling it to tie to his saddle, he bent over and examined the snow around the camp for the whitest patch. He used what cooking gear he had to heat up water for drinking. That done, he pulled three portions from the fire and carried them over to the dwarf and halfling. He bent over and examined the little woman's inflamed face, muttering, "Sick already? I thought halflings were sturdier than that."

"Ye mistake resiliance for constitution. She'll be fine, mark me words." Thurin said, strolling over and plopping himself down next to the fire to grab a bite of fish. He saw the milky eyed Elf sitting over to the side, and gave her a grunt in greeting before he bit into the cooked meat. "Didn't know Wizards went fishing" he said aloud. It was good meat.

If it was even posible, Ellaryn's face went a deeper shade of red as Vamyr stood over her. His examination of her face made her shift from from one foot to the other in nervousness. He appeared so stoic, she couldn't tell if he was sincere, concerned or sarcastic. She shot Thurin an evil glance after his antics, but already he had moved to join Calariel.

"I...er....that is, my thanks....." Ellaryn stuttered and flustered her words, but her hobbit nature quickly kicked in. Both her hands reached out and accepted the cooked fish that was bought before her. It did indeed smelled very good. Ellaryn's stomach growled in agreement.

She tried her best to throw attention away from herself, glancing at Calariel she spoke;

"Perhaps a song for breakfast would be welcome." Hopefully everyone would pay the bard more notice.

"Probably right." Vamyr straightened and shrugged noncomittaly before a thought occured and he turned sharply to look her over. "Do you carry weapons?." As he spoke, Vamyr scanned the other members of their party. He had no issues with a song, but they needed to leave quickly if they were to travel such a distance. "Rather, I guess I should be asking- are you good with them?"

Just as Vamyr turned back to Ellaryn to ask if she had weapons, Ellaryn had polished off the fish and was happily licking her fingers clean. She barely managed to stiffle a belch as she went went to her collapsed tent and searched for her two short swords, she gave Vamyr a quick look at them before they were strapped to her belt. She explained, "I'm okay with them, but not as strong as you big folk." Then she frowned before admitting"I haven't even been in a fight with them, and last night was..." She sighed and threw herself into packing her gear up, she didn't want to think on Nora's face with the other undead creatures they had fought.

Suddenly Aelin appeared from the nearby woods, carrying a large bag of some sort.

"Did one of you mention the word bard? Because here I am, and I bring you food.. Well, I think these are edible. We probably should boil them first though."

He placed his bag to the ground, so everyone could see the contents. It was filled with massive gray mushrooms, as well as some kind of leaves. It was a miracle that anything like that would grow this far north, but if someone could find life in the middle of all the snow, it was this elf. He sat down next to Ellaryn, looking well rested.

Ellaryn, gladly took the mushrooms from Aelin, they immediately bought back memories of farmer Maggot's farm. It seemed every up and coming hobbit that could, did their very best to raid his crops. She had only dreamed of getting her hands on his mushrooms and now here they were growing out in the wild. The leaves she couldn't place though.

"Better let Ofnir take a look at them, unless someone else is good with plant knowledge?" She slightly raised her voice as she asked the question while she packed the mushrooms away safely. She then returned to continuing with packing her tent. "There's breakfast awaiting you, Ofnir has done well with it." She gave a small involuntary belch at that.

"I guess there's enough time for music, let me see.."

Once again, a song emerging from Aelin's instrument filled the area. However, this time it was cheerful and fast paced, and included lyrics only those who spoke Sindarin would understand. The elf sung of heroes, dragons, riches and the old times.
@Tombprince
Looking back over it, I am actually pretty happy with it as is, especially considering we dont know what the GM and Vas have cooking- unless someone else has anything they want to add? @Azazaa@POOHEAD189

Happy as well, just a quick note. Did someone want to add that we're moving off? I just reread @Sigurd's last post.
I am a bit tight on time atm, but I'll be adding onto the collab later today

Okay, no problem.
One question, since I wanna move it tomorrow: are you guys fans of the travelling bits or not?

This is probably the first time all the characters have a chance of getting to know each, for Ellaryn this means she is a little unsure of some members and is getting close to others (thanks for the loan of the beard btw @POOHEAD189.) Having said that, it will probably come down to whether or not people what to interact with other on journeys or if if there is a plothook either they or the GM want to explore.

This is just a long winded way of me saying the same thing as @Gate Keeper

Or at least, I was. Just got switched onto another project, so it'll wait till the weekend.

Something to look forward too then.

It made sense, that hollow noise that they had made on appoarching them the first time, so may as well call them Chimes. Blim calming stroked Kal's belly as the tiny dragon slept, it mewed and hugged his finger in sleep and grinned as Eli took Blood Terror away. "they are quite the pair." he said and turned as the mushroom-man waddled up them both.

He hopped for attention. "Hi Blin, I'm Kip! You're very sleepy aren't you? Ask your dreamwisp not to eat me okay?"

Dreamwisp? "Well I called..." kip had already waddled away. Did he dream it real? He did vaugely remember a dream, it seemed ages ago, about flying on a great dragon. He looked at the sleeping dragon again, Kal was bigger in his dreams though, but a dragon and Kal in both were they not just as intelligent.

"Eli, is Blood Terror okay? I mean was he upset when Nikki came over?" He didn't want to upset her, she had after all saved him several times, and there was something....Blin looked away before he could red "Just asking, because Kal seems to enjoying pinching mefar too much." He gently unhooked Kalikorix and turned the dragon over so it sleep in the crook of his arm.

Kip was speaking again to everyone, Blin was going to answer when Kip's last words clicked in his head. "Fall? I crashed actually. oh crap, my gear. We need to go back, I got some supplies that could be useful." He couldn't remember if they were crushed, and if they weren't he couldn't remember what was even in there. "I think."
Leaving Angfort ~ Ellaryn Bracegirdle

Trudging along, Ellaryn barely noticed that Vamyr was with her. She followed the bell rings but her her thoughts remained on the inn, the pair reached the belltower and Calariel recieved her horse with thanks.

Ellaryn's thoughts were on her past alone on the road, barely any company before arriving at Angfort. Now, just as she had found a fresh start with interesting people that didn't cast her away, her dreams of finding a place to call home...literally...burnt to the ground.

Ofnir's words bought her back to the present, she took it and placed it on one finger. though plain, it's pure metal shone to brightly for her liking at this time. The warmth that spread from it as the companions also wore their gifts, it made her think. Perhaps, after all, she was welcome with company. She could maybe think that all of them could very well be the first friends she had in such a long time.

In a better mood since the fire, Ellaryn rode with others away from Angfort, she fished about in her bags along the way, eventually finding something and tucking in her belt. At the camp she following Thurin's lead and also gave comfort to Sandy, leaving her with a blanket to keep warm. Even if she thought about it later, she could never remember way she followed Thurin to his place of rest that night.

She sat next to the dwarf, not saying anything and took from her belt a small strip of leather. carefully, as Aelin began his soothing music, she cut it into three strips and started weaving them together. Ther was enough for two, she braided the leather and made two oversized rings. She slipped one on her finger, over the the bright metal and covered it. The other tossed over the camp toward Aelin.

Ellaryn looked at the dwarf long long and hard, the stare went on before she finally broke it and took at her tent. She was too tired to put it up and just wrapped herself up and lay next to Thurin.

"If you snore once, I have a short sword that will cure it." having said her piece in light tones and soon her eyes drifted closed. There wouldn't be any danger with her drawing the blades. She slept far to close to Thurin's side. Only her face remained free and it seemed she left plenty of excess tent canvas for Thurin to use if he needed.
