...couldn't any non-magical player claim that as a flaw? I'm not trying to call anything out, I just feel that isn't that much of a flaw.Sorry for the double post.

Well it does limit the character's options considerably owing that she's a mage and no other school can mimic Creation's essential healing spells so I'm inclined to accept it. We've given Zordon enough grief over her character, time to let the poor girl be XD
@wired Your post is very well written but it is not third person limited. The entire post is an inward view of the character's feelings about everything he sees. We don't know your character's feelings unless you show them. The problem with omniscient perspective in gaming is two fold. One it leads to needlessly longwinded posts which bog things down. One time I literally had a player write three pages all about his character's feelings and two page posts which do nothing to move the story are common when I allow omniscience. The game can't gain momentum like that. The other problem is it fosters metagaming. You're giving players (and me) knowledge about your character they don't necessarily have (unless they are telepaths) and without thinking they are going to metagame by acting on that knowledge. I don't want the knowledge either because few of the forces that I control in game from NPCs to typhoons are telepathic. Keep that ace in your sleeve and the game is more suspenseful because you never know when someone's outward appearance may belie the inward reality.

I'm not saying you can't convey character feeling, but you need to do it the hard way by showing not telling. Convey feelings and thoughts in dialogue, action and description not by outright telling us.

Remember I am giving you more power over the world than most GMs. You can godmode lesser NPCs and introduce your own. You can craft subplots and add to the scene. Use these powers to express who your character is and it will make for more engaging story than internal reflections and dialogue.
@Wired That's a good point, Wired. Yes the recruits should all know one another by this point.

This RP takes the form of a 'what-if' scenario where both the plot and characters of the original game's story, focusing around the 5th Blight, are greatly altered in interesting ways. This will not be a play-by-play repeat, but a remix which will defy expectations. Alterations include but are not limited to changes in random events, recent historic events, personality changes, gender-bending of cannon characters, appearance of cannon characters not normally present in Origins and the introduction of completely novel characters, talents, weapons and magics.

What we need at this point are people willing to play as canon characters such as Morrigan or Alistair. These characters can be played same as they were in the games if one would rather not change them or altered in any number of interesting ways to put a new spin on things. I'm also accepting heroes not normally present in Origins such as Varric and characters who have never played a leading role such as Sandal.

If you're interested in playing one of these characters or putting your own touch on one of them then check out the OOC.
@All I have decided to post another interest check but only for canon characters. I want at least some of them but it's a big burden on the GM.
Added a short scene to introduce Loghain and Kayla so that people know how to describe them in their posts. If you need an NPC that I haven't introduced yet, just introduce them yourself. If you want to do a remix on them, though, ask me first especially if its an important NPC like Wynne.

I'm still deciding if I want to bring in Alistair or not. I was really hoping a PC would play him, but the person who wanted him bailed.
Resplendent in a glimmering set of gilded armor, forged to fit a woman's curves, the Queen rode along with Loghain, a man who cut a figure every bit as imposing as the young Queen's was radiant. The two of them seemed opposites in every aspect. The old warrior with his dull practical iron cuirass, creased face and charcoal hair. The young warrior Queen with her sparkling platemail, rosy cheeks and long blond mane. Riding astride these two polarities was a small but elite retinue of guards and, of course, Kayla's faithful Mabari, Thorn. "Must you bring that hound everywhere, my Queen?" Loghain repeated a familiar refrain.

"This is Ferelden, not Orlais. You saw to that," she added with a playful wink.

"True, if it was, you'd be back in the palace where you belong, not here in mortal danger."

"The fact that I'm a woman does not change the need of soldiers to see their leader on the battlefield sharing in the danger... and the glory."

Loghain uttered a sigh that ended in a reluctant grin, "there's much of your father in you. Too much at times."

As the ruined walls broke to their right the bridge came into view and on it, striding out of the woodland mists like a memory, a familiar stoic figure wearing the armor of the Grey Wardens. "Look, I think I see them," Kayla cried excitedly suddenly sounding like a little girl. "Yes, it's him, the Warden commander and the new recruits!"

"Steady yourself, my Queen, this is not one of your mother's storybooks."

Before answering Kayla took a brief survey of the massing army, men practicing their aim and honing their weapons in preparation for the battle to come. "You could have fooled me, uncle."

"I promise you," the old warrior replied rather grimly, "by the end of this, you'll know the difference between fantasy and reality."

Edited to "Adaptive".

Thanks, sorry to be a hard ass for character creation rules. I promise I am the opposite when it comes to character choice and action in game.

There we go, first post in an RP for nuguild. Hope I didn't do too terribly, as I'm a bit rusty.

Gratz! And thanks for the great help in setting the scene, but, be careful. This is a remix, not a repeat. Cailan was born a girl, Kayla, in this retelling, so Ferelden's ruler is a Queen not a King.

I'll make up our cast as people begin to post.
@All I will put a posting guide up on the IC to help with IC posts. These are more like guidelines than rules. Also if anyone needs help working their character in or is blocked just ask for help in the OOC.
@All IC is now officially open. To clarify only the recruits are coming in with Duncan. If you are not a recruit or are already a Grey Warden you are elsewhere and it's your decision as to how you introduce yourself.

I feel I need to emphasize again that my games are VERY player driven. You can do anything so long as it is within character and doesn't disintegrate the group. I encourage players to introduce or Godmode minor NPCs when they need to. You can construct whole subplots and story arcs if that's what you want. The Blight will of course demand the game has an overarching main plot and a certain momentum as the Horde marches, but how you deal with it is entirely up to you. Remember we are not playing a video game here so we have no need to limit options.
