There was something unsettling about a green island amidst snowy seas and yet- it was their destination. It was too late to get cold feet now so instead he swallowed his wariness and touched down upon plush grass, padding his feet at soft earth and sniffing at the air which was both bitter and sweet. He realized the next minute that the flower was responsible for the first, snorting at the petals and leaving Ava to the task of collecting them. It was when everything seemed to be going so well and they were about to take off that the land trembled and he widened his stance in alarm. Another whispering death? But then a large white dragon burst out from the thicket of trees and Blizzard freaked, fighting with himself to remain still rather than fleeing as Ava ran towards him.

No sooner than she mounted though she was being flung off and his attempted launch sent him rolling. What surely was ancient beast was looming over Ava and Blizzard struggled to right himself, tangled up in the thick foliage- dizzy from the tumble. He snapped at the vines and flung his wings open with sudden ferocity as Ava went still, freeing himself and launching up at the beast. He dragged it to the ground by its horn before immediately racing to Ava and flipping her onto his back, not giving the other dragon a chance to retaliate as he immediately took off.

His ascend lacked its usual flare with no way to keep Ava on during a sharp incline. He rose gradually beating his wings hard. Though he didn’t look back he thought he felt the dragon’s stare like a needle at his skull. Where was he going? What was he doing? He needed a safe place to land, no he needed to get back to Berk!

Fortunately the decision was made for him as Ava began to slid from his hide. He slowed rapidly and descended with a hard thump on a icy beach. His wings flopped at his sides and he twisted, sliding her body down onto one of them- staring at her with wide green eyes. There was a roar from the sky and sudden form diving towards the land, he repositioned, standing over the girl and baring his teeth. Suddenly he saw who it was though as nightfury touched down with unnecessary force- earflaps flicking back and forth as he surveyed the surrounding land.

Hiccup sprung from Toothless’ back and the dragon snapped back to attention but by then Hiccup was already running towards the white dragon, voice lined with panic “where’s Ava?” He’d imaged dragging a rebellious girl back- probably amidst an argument and instead there was Blizzard looking baffled and then bothered. Lowering his head with shame before shifting back on his hind legs so Hiccup could get to his daughter and he did. Grabbing her firmly and freezing at the sight of her eyes “wh-what happened?”

Blizzard paced a few steps and then transformed though his muscles were tired from the flight, leaving his human form feeling on the side of lethargic. He slumped forward against his knees and moaned miserably forgetting his words. “Big white dragon. I don’t know- back there!” He pointed swiftly in the direction of the island and nearly sent himself toppling.

Hiccup picked Ava carefully up after assuring that she was still breathing. “What did it do?” He asked as calmly as he could, trying not trying to fuel the young dragon’s distress.

Sucking a breath between his teeth Blizzard replied “nothing… It just stared at her and she stopped moving.” Toothless barked at them and nodded his head toward the island, spreading his wings and Hiccup thoughtlessly pulled his tailfin open. Maybe not the smartest decision since Toothless immediately took off in the direction of the island leaving the tree standing in the snow.

Blizzard gritted his teeth, his pride suddenly torn as he ground out the words “get on my back” before transforming back to a dragon.
Sorry about any typos and a lackluster post, I have to go to work.
Perhaps it was a vain hope but if that flower was there than the worse of their problems would be solved. Blizzard wouldn't think about what they would do if it wasn't there. He had made himself comfortable after a starting a fire, basking in the light of the warm flames and resting his wings. He accepted the offered fish with vigor and waited patiently for Ava to finish her own meal. Humans ate so gingerly. If they were savoring every bite than they had the wrong idea- after all they cooked all the flavorable juices out of their meat before eating it. It seemed that as soon as he dozed off she was scratching at his scales and he stretched long, like a cat- noticing she was already on his back he took flight.

The first few minutes of this next span of flying was spent at a sluggish pace as Blizzard woke himself back up and after a short time he was picking up the pace once more. They were on the last stretch of their journey (before the return trip that was) and he was ready to prove that they were more than capable. This time he would do his best not to overdo it... how embarrassing that was, getting captured. They had already wasted a graveous amount of time due to that storm and he didn't want anymore problems between them and that flower.
Nope. I got nothing right now.
Blizzard rumbled in response and flew on in silence. He worried that Ava would grow ill from this cold as her mother had- he hoped not that the flight was peaceful… but rather that it was short. A few hours more of flying and the sun was beginning to rise, he scanned the sea for the flicker of fish in first light. A pod of seashockers must have been nearby because several fish were flipping up from the surface, a whole school trying to speed away from the dragons and running out of sea. Blizzard dived in sharply, catching a couple in his mouth as the fish somersaulted in the air. He rose again swallowing his prize with a content purr.

They flew on- covering miles in little time at all. The ocean was vast and silent and gradually Blizzard began to drift lower once more, seeking a place to land. The ocean shifted beneath them and startled him from his search causing him to lurch sharply, body tipping as several massive thunder drums buckled up from the sea, filling their huge bodies with air. He picked up the pace and could not imagine how small Ava must feel in comparison to those beasts.
Probably some new dragon that guards the flowers.
I saw that movie once.. don't really remember the point of it or how it ended... but yeah, might be something to work with.
Still feel sick?
Blizzard didn’t want to wait, he was eager to move on from this island. He shook the ice from his scales and stood- as white as the layers of snow that had settled upon the earth but his back was warm and his insides full of fire. A little bit of cold wouldn’t stop him here. He folded his wings, waiting for her to situate herself on his back with her usual inexperience. Perhaps a saddle had been a good idea at least then she would know where to place her rear without debate. Forward from the base of the wings- it was that easy. Blizzard was tempted (not for the first time) to bow his head and let her fall forward. It had some extra appeal with a soft layer of fresh snow but he restrained himself, regal and poised, even when one of her frumpy human feet knocked him behind the ear. After what felt like several minutes he recognized her readiness and dug his feet down against the stone for a smooth take off. He was grown enough to know that launching from shifty snow lead to nosedives.

The air remained chilled as they traveled, all the warm currents flowing south- away from their destination. It was not difficult for him to stay warm pumping his wings against the occasional gust but about an hour in (despite this fact) he shot his plasma into the sky, a wave of fire blowing out from the miniature explosion and he skirted beneath the flames- close enough for them to feel the heat without physically touching the element. They came closer to the sea, the waves churning with unease though the sky had since cleared and a reflection of his white hide buckled across the surface among beams of moonlight. He considered feeding but the weather had unsettled the fish, sending them deeper, out of reach.

He lifted them higher once more, continuing north.
Eventually her scent became the prominent one to his senses as they sat there together in the cold with her soothing whispers and comforting scrub of her fingers across his cold scales. He knew this couldn’t be comfortable for her- crouched in snow but at least down in this gully the freezing wind was not quite so intense with its bite. They were partially shielded by stone and dead shrubs.

He picked up the pieces of his composure and gathered himself as she promised fish and safety. From what? Eels? He would be the one protecting her from anything else but he took her words for the good will she was expressing. These were assurances full of sincerity. He lifted one end of his mouth with a lopsided smile and then huffed, getting up and curling around her before looking to the sky. He hoped the storm let up soon.
