Despite having only been laying on the uncomfortable mattress for a short time, Alexander had nearly fallen asleep. The day's events had taken their tolls on him, and his body craved rest. The only thing which kept him even slightly awake was the overwhelming sense of fear emanating throughout the room, filling his mind. Alexander jolted to wakefulness at the sound of a voice directed at him. "Wanna trade shirts? Mine's really baggy. I'm not used to big shirts. My name's Margaret but you can call me Maggie." Due in part to his exhaustion, and also to the emotions of those around him, Alexander was startled by the girl.
She looked down at him from the top of the bunk next to his, hair reaching from behind her head toward the floor. Alexander placed his left hand over his chest to feel his heartbeat as he caught his breath. "Sorry about that," he spoke after calming down again, "I'm just... stressed I suppose. So uhm, what was that you asked? You wanted to trade shirts?" now that he had focused on this girl, Alexander could feel something he hadn't in a while. She seems... cheery? No, that's not quite right. Optimistic maybe? It feels vaguely positive. Snapping out of his thought, Alexander remembered that this girl had asked him a question.
"Yeah, sure. I guess I don't see why not. I think I'd prefer looser clothes actually." Alexander removed his shirt once again, wrapping himself in the thin blanket provided in order to stay warm, and handed the clothing up towards the girl. Arm outstretched, he tried his best to smile with sincerity, "My name is Alexander, by the way."
