Poppy

Poppy's face reddened and her hand was shaking so much that her bite fell back onto the plate. While she was angry at one eye hot headed, she was even more so at her parents. Hiding their daughter from a phenomenon that's been going on for well over a hundred years only to find out she's a part of it. Stupid high class society and their fears. Based on the curriculum at her private school she wasn't the only one with parents who felt that way, which also explains why she wasn't sent to another school. However here it was just her. I hope they get kicked out of their little circle... She felt guilty for wishing her father further ill in his condition, but they did bring it upon themselves.

If she said something in response she was sure to blow up, then this girl didn't seem like the type to back down so there was sure to be fallout for the rest of the others. Normally she would have anyways, but right now she felt like an idiot. It wasn't her fault she wasn't taught these things like everyone else. She turned her attention to a meatball on her plate and instead attempted to spear it unsuccessfully. Each failure only made her more and more frustrated until she game up and simply poked at the spaghetti. Her appetite was gone, what she really wanted to do was get away from everyone and scream even though she knew it wouldn't help.

A tear rolled down her cheek. That was the last thing she wanted anyone to see right now so she dismounted from her seat and took off down the row without a second thought. It didn't look like the boy noticed her anymore anyways.

Vespera

As Nikki sized her up, Vespera tried to read into what she might thinking to no avail. On the other hand there definitely seemed to be something girl who looked like she was picked up off the streets. The deer in the headlights look she took on for a moment gave her no doubt. Seemed like something worth digging into one she figured up what was up with the bugs. Vespera really hoped that's all it was.

As the guy sitting next to her and Amanda got up to leave Nikki inquired about meeting up again. Her gaze narrowed, she didn't like being ignored. That and this new chick that was radiating light. She turned away and hissed under her breath but didn't say anything. There was no way she was going to reveal anything about herself if she didn't have to, besides she'd already been asked. That's not all she heard, everyone's conversations at this part of the table were fair game for her acute hearing. Not ever clever are you? Red's plan was clearly audible to her, and mostly like Henry if he was eavesdropping on everyone like her. She had already smelt the smoke on the two of them, what she didn't know before is that they were under eighteen. Or at least Jared was.

Wonder if Mr. Olin is going to do anything, get all anal like Adam would. She hoped not, that way she could hold the edge. Maybe blackmail them later on down the road, who knows. If she isn't as daft as him she's probably pretty pissed. I would be if I did that garbage. Vespera rejected substance use of all kinds, including pain killers. Deluding her senses was even more intolerable in her opinion than enduring agony. A part of it was also conditioning herself. There's no relief on the battlefield, and sometimes after. Anyone who can't tough it out is weak. Then there was addiction. What a sucker. You and everyone else that plays bitch to the tabaco companies. Pay to hasten your demise? What a joke. At least she why other drugs might be tempting to the spineless masses.

Too bad she'd have to let him go this time. It'd be strange for her to bail this early, especially if she followed him. In any case she was getting sidetracked from her main objective. Since Nikki clearly wasn't going to initiate anything she was going to have to. "So I take it your new, your ear sore yet?" Vespera titled her head towards Amanda and chuckled. "Hey you two have some similarities, you related or something?" With her acute senses she had already come to the conclusion they were, just something else to keep the conversation going if possible.
If Shannon messed with Nikki or Vespera it could cause quite the stir. Hope your characters don't mind a little extra protein in their meals.
Poppy

At the girl how'd been introduced as Gabe made an outburst about getting starred at Poppy turned sharply. "And who says I was looking at you?" Her gaze tore between Henry and Jaska before she settling back on one eye hot headed. Then she decided that she better not offend anyone, even if their mutations made them stand out. "No offense... I didn't even know mutants existed before getting sent here." Like the others she was cut off by a group of others filling in the gaps of seating left at their table.

Out of the corner of her eye Poppy noticed one of the more attractive guys nod in her direction. Aside from that giant scar... I wonder how old he is. She raised her hand weakly in acknowledgement and smiled nervously. There was so much going on here it was overwhelming. There was so many people, and not even ordinary people. Inside everyone here was something terrifying and powerful. After seeing Jaska and Henry there was no doubt. Looking at the dark hair boy it was hard to believe that he wasn't normal. What was an even harder pill to swallow was that she was.

What kind of power to I have? I don't even remember anything... What am I supposed to say to these people? Hopefully I'm not the only one. That wasn't even the worst possible question. What if somebody asks why I'm attending the academy? Poppy realized it must look like she staring again so she looked away.

Vesepera

Vespera caught that the vision impaired Hispanic had somehow caught her gaze drift across her seating. She winked and puckered her lips a little in jest. Based on her smile they'd managed to amuse each other, though when she complained about it she was sure she had the better deal of it. She made a scolding clicking sound to herself as converged on the opposite side of the table from where Amanda and her first target of interest were preparing to sit. Amanda was as boisterous as ever, Nikki as she was introduced seemed like the quiet type. So what can you do sweetie? While they were already intrupting she took the opportunity to introduce herself since it'd happen soon or later. "Hello Amanda." Henry was acknowledged with brief nod. "Professor." Now looking around to everyone she said "hope I'm not intruding, I'm Vespera." With that she took her seat.

All those bugs... Surely Henry took notice of it as well, wasn't a surprise that he didn't care. As long as she kept them to herself that is. In her case though it was unsettling. If she could get that many insects to travel peacefully under her clothes what else could she do?
Reading his personality I thought it would be a safe bet, figured that she'd have developed that opinion in the past since he's a returning student now teacher. I know it isn't based off of anything so far, and after hearing that it's more or less on track with the ways he's going might as well leave it. Looking forward to going into more detail with other characters once the RP is in full swing.
I think so too.

Touched up a few aspects of Vespera's personally and added her perspective of the two teacher characters to her relationships. I'll wait for initial interactions for students even in they are returning.
Poppy Flanagan

The prospect of being on a boat like this would have been considered an impossibility only a month ago. Even though they were never around her parents limits on where she was allowed to go was very tight. In her early childhood she was scarcely taken anywhere. The first place she remembered spending anytime at other than her house was her first school. Since getting expelled from the private school she was planned to attend afterwards she'd been on total lockdown. This culminated in her father being hospitalized after his last visit. Worse was that she didn't remember a thing, and yet she was being blamed. Something told her that the view of her mother at his bedside would be her last memory of them. They hadn't even let her in to the room. Then there was the look she cast as the guards steered her towards the elevator to leave. A look of unbridled fear with a twinge of disbelief. Then the doors shut and with them the life she'd once had.

After a long ride in the centermost of three black cars with black tinted windows she'd been set up in a high class hotel. Her regular servants were replaced by suits with ear pieces. It was unnerving at first until she realized that whatever discomfort she was feeling they were ten times worse. Once she had the courage to make a demand seeing it followed was all she needed. Like usual though the one thing not allowed was for her to leave. Judging from the lack of outside noise they must have rented the whole floor, maybe even the ones above and bellow. For two weeks she lived much much like normal with the exceptions being a spacious residence and daily lessons. On the 28th of June she was without warning escorted to the airport, and the next day to this ship. All that she was told is that she'd be attending school with kids that have powers like the one she supposedly had.

So much for that. Nobody onboard seemed remotely similar to herself. People of all ages, nationalities, and walks of life. That's right people, there were even adults attending! What kind of academy is this? She answered her own question. One for freaks... Poppy found a secluded spot to sit out the voyage thankful that at least whoever was running this place had funding. The cruise ship of a transport alone was well in the millions. Judging by the temperature their destination was close to the equator. This gave her a new prospect considering she'd never been to a beach before. Not exactly how she envisioned it though. Soon enough the island came into view and before she knew it Poppy was one with the crowd filling in the remain seats for the opening dinner. To be honest what it all reminded her of was a modern version of Hogwarts. Just exchange houses for cliques and wizards for mutants. However, unlike Harry she didn't make any friends enroute. This left her frantically searching for a place to sit. Singling spots out by attire, age group, and as they were filled she started off in the direction of some well off Hispanics. The fact that one of them appeared younger than her put her at ease until she saw the boys monstrous features. Looking around a few others had the same thoughts and stayed clear, but nobody at the table seemed phased.

Summoning up a bit of courage Poppy took a seat a couple places down and across from them. When the lousy speech which she completely ignored concluded she realized how hungry she was. Naturally she loaded her plate with all the tasty tidbits and avoided anything green. While she was content to eat and mind her own business when the youngest of the trio used his tail to spear his meat only to spit it out. Then her gaze jumped to the girl among them when she commented on the chickens flavor. For such a prim and proper upbringing Poppy could be rather indecent herself, just her experiences at private school gave her some preconceived notions of what it might be like her. So far there was no correlation. In any case for good or bad she was stuck here for who knows how long. Sure enough others came and once a conversation started she could begin to access which way her year would go.

This train of thought was lost as a giant lizard in a suit introduced himself as a teacher. Poppy gawked How am I ever going to get used to this?!

Vespera Spindel

Against the wall to the side of the entrance Vespera leaned comfortable against the wall and surveyed the new arrivals. After attending the academy for so long she seen all types and knew that this initially analysis would be quickly invalidated. Still what she wanted to catch was how everyone carried themselves their first night in what to many of them was a strange new world. Picking out who among them might be worth her time.   Before they even entered she could make out the voice of Amanda Blackmoore and a new girl. Since she was one of the more eccentric students and her father, Adam, was one of the lead instructors she'd found her first target. Whoever this aquatic, friend, or relative was she was going to find out. When the duo crossed the threshold Vespera pushed off from the wall to get in closer only to stop in her tracks. She picked up the scent of her babies prey mingling with the new girls. Various species of lesser arthropods. If they were internal she wouldn't have been able pick up on them, but there were no creepy crawlies to be seen either. That left the only option being that she was concealing them under her clothes much in the way the she herself was harboring a host of spiders. Nothing like what this newcomer had going on though.

Vespera actually found the scent to be much more appetizing than what lay on platters ready to be served the vast majority of the students. As for herself she would eat later. Gorging herself while powered down like the rest of them was not befitting of one such as herself. Additionally she was acutely aware of how unappetizing her method of feeding was to most others and had no desired to be shunned.

Walking along the ends of the tables Vespera kept level with her subject using her peripheral vision, when they went in for a seat she'd preemptively start down the row as if she'd plan to sit somewhere nearby inconsequentially. Over the years she'd grown rather accomplished at lingering without drawing too much attention then getting in and out without seeming overwhelmingly suspicious. Of course people are going to think what they are going to think, and she did look rather shady. Just got to get her to relate with me in a positive fashion. Dispel any false or maybe true pretenses.

Her attention shifted for a moment as Henry went to greet what appeared to be another apex predator, albeit a much younger one. She made a mental note to introduce herself to the boy soon.
Awesome, I'm eagerly awaiting.
Basic Information

Name: Vespera Spindel (having never never actually been given a name she came up with it for herself, it means evening spider)
Nickname/Alias/Etc: Arachne, Black Widow, Spinner of Shadows
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Height: 6'
Weight: 131 lbs
Status: Returning student, has been attending full time for over 12 years

Appearance

Hair Color: Black with red highlights/streaks throughout
Eye Color: Blood red
Ethnicity: English

Physical Appearance: Even without the clothing side of her image, Vespera's body features and makeup scream goth. The foremost being her straight, midnight hair with scarlet highlights. It flows to her shoulders, and has long bangs that conceal her eyes. With good reason, her long lashed eye's have abnormally large pupils that are sanguine in color. They have an eerie glow to them that make's her efforts to conceal them in vain. Anyone within conversational distance should notice them with ease. That's not the only thing different about her. Vespera's mouth is wide, but not unnaturally so, or to the point it diminishes her attractiveness. The main reason it looks out of place is her lips aren't proportionately thick for their shape. Dark eye shadow with upward angled streaks of red originating from outward facing corners of each eye. Her lipstick is brownish pink color contrary to her red and black theme. As for the rest of her body, Vespera is extremely slender with long limbs. Shaped muscles hug the bone, giving her a toned look despite her overall spindly appearance. Only one area is fatty, I'm sure you can guess where that is. Her hands are like her limbs, long and slender. Thickness, length and the solid red color of her nails make most think that she has fake nails, while they are in fact natural. Color included. She is barely there in the midsection and has hips wider than her bust. Between her shoulder blades is a red hour glass marking. Like a number of her other features, it is a side effect of her power. A pale grayish skin tone clashes with the dark colors she is so fond of. Strangely she has no blemishes or scars of any sort. Equally surprising is the lack of piercings to be found anywhere on her body, she looks the type that would have at least done her ears at least. If she had a healthy complexion, one might say that she had perfect skin. Vespera could easily be mistaken for being younger than she really is.

Attire: Vespera wears the same type of outfit just about everyday. Her main article is a one piece black corset with an attached skirt. Laces of a deep red color create a snug fit, the back is low enough to expose her red hourglass marking. The skirt part itself is knee length, with fringes of black interspersed with crimson. From the toes up she wears a pair of thigh length high heel boots also with matching red laces. These shoes have four inch heels, which add to her already impressive height. This makes her look freakishly tall for a female. Should the fringes on her shirt part enough one might also see that she's wearing fishnet stockings underneath. Her hands and arms are covered by black long sleeved gloves. Curiously they appear to be custom made, as they have sealable slits at the tip of each finger. A silver spider pendant with a large blood ruby embedded in its abdomen rests just above her breasts, and is her only piece of jewelry. Because her hair is unable to properly hide her eyes, Vespera additionally wears a short veil over the top half of her face as an additional measure. Overall her wardrobe is entirely Gothic and extremely promiscuous.

Personality

Outward & Innate Personality: Vespera is antisocial, but not in the shy sense. Her behavior would best be described as the way a predator watches it's prey before striking. Just in this case her prey is the other members of the academy. She watches and listens to anything and everything that may come in use later. Any information about others strengths and weaknesses she keeps to herself, but in the case of rumors she likes to pass them along. Her tactic is to bring it up to a gossipy type girl, and let her do the dirty work for her. If she likes the person she'll flatter them, if not she'll blatantly insult them. The in between is when she’s getting to know them. All the while she'll remain level headed and use a sweet tone. Vespera is very competitive and will scheme to make up for defeat at nearly any cost. However, there is one thing that gets her blood to truly boil. Killing a spider. Doing so could result in her transforming, and or trying to murder the offender. This and her attitude causes her to get in more fights than the average student. On the other end she is deathly afraid of water in large quantities and absolutely hates being around it. Near psychopathic mannerisms, physical differences, and her upbringing make it difficult others to closely relate with her and vice versa. Most of her ‘friendships’ were born in either the book or science club. Vespera feels like the academy is a necessary prison, she want's nothing more than to hone her powers to perfection then get out. Her sexual orientation is bisexual, though she favors men, with her primary attraction factor being power.

Beneath the shell, Vespera’s power and experiences have molded her into a rather unbalanced individual. In her early life, before she was taken in, her development amounted to that of an evolved carnivore. This stunted her human development, and so while she’s in her twenties her behavior is often immature. Many of the measures used in used in restraining her bestial nature would be considered abusive to anyone let alone a child. In combination with her animal survival instincts she suffers from hyperarousal and defaults to aggression in the face of perceived threats. Which at one time was anyone and everyone. Rarely was she shown true compassion and those who tried were met with difficulties. The attachment process most children go through was disrupted. As a result she has severe trust issues and a lack of empathy. There wasn't somebody there for her to turn to for help or comfort, if she even would. It was never even a concept until she arrived at the academy. Without a role model she had trouble regulating her emotions and still does. The apathetic processes from her power were used as a crutch, a way to dissociate from it all. Despite habilitation attempts she feels she is more creature than human. Ultimately she jumped through the hoops to avoid what she viewed as punishment. Later on she was prompted to participate in non-physical mature activities through positive reinforcement. Because of this Vespera gained a skewed view on courtship and a level of sexual confusion. The most noticeable symptoms is her lack of modesty when it comes to clothing herself and low self respect/restraint during intimate activities. Aside from this she became a part of the family and made necessary advances to have any hope of fitting in with others. It wasn't until later that she even realized how she was taken advantage of. There are times she thinks about what she would do if they ever met again.

For the first years attending the academy everything was overwhelming for Vespera. While her situation undoubtedly improved, maltreatment was replaced with personal attacks. She existed in a state of persistent fear until she was drove to the breaking point and lashed out. By comparison to her previous environment her punishment was a mere slap on the wrist. It might as well been a reward since the perpetrator was in no condition to continue tormenting her. Slowly the anger and blame she held for the world surfaced. Her actions became more bold, rebellious, and violent. She found the closest thing she had experienced to a sense of belonging since being taken away from the household she was assigned in filling the role of a monster. Over the course of time she masked her insecurities by adopting an egocentric perspective. A grand illusion that places here near the top of the pecking order and others beneath her. She adopted arrogance with little inhibition, and no remorse. In addition to an overly solicitous and manipulative demeanor. She does her best act well refined to make up for her social shortcomings. While often times she is seen as an attention seeker, her social antics almost always have more to them than simple self gratification. There are equally as many time’s she’d prefer not to be noticed at all.

Vespera tells herself that emotions and everything she used to be was weak, she has internalized this belief to the best of her ability. That if she believes in her strength and importance enough she will never have to feel insignificant and helpless ever again. If she had it her way she would forget everything and become the persona she is trying to project. However, her unregulated and hidden emotions inevitably catch up to her at times. Most commonly when something reminds her of the past. The reason she snaps at the killing of spiders isn't because that she is overly protective of them (any more), it simply dredges up bad memories. At times these come in the form of vivid flashbacks. That and she sees it as equivalent to spitting in her face. When unable to achieve a goal after repeated attempts she is prone to impulsive and sometimes self destructive behavior. Persistent issues that she feels powerless against promotes bouts of uncontrollable depression, and makes her question her decisions. Sometimes her very existence. She thinks what she might have been like with normal upbringing, but feels she is too far gone. This is a reoccurring identity crisis. Deep down she is fearful to leave the academy for good. The first time she deliberately killed she ran back with her tail between her legs, deathly afraid of being found out, recaptured, or worse. Though she will insist otherwise. Subconsciously what she is really looking for in an individual is unconditional acceptance of who and what she is.

Hobbies/Interests: The activities Vespera indulges in are strange to say the least. Much of her time is spent watching other students hang out from some dark corner. Any spiders she encounters are invited to ride along in her hair and clothing. Her favorite subject is biology, and her favorite part of that is dissections. Psychology comes in second. A large portion of her free time is spent studying for these courses. The only real normal recreation she does is read in the library, knitting/crocheting, and writing poetry.

Skills/Talents: Outside of her powers, Vespera is good at a few regular activities. Her knowledge of biology and physiology is exceptional. She is a gifted pianist, poet, and songwriter. Although, all of her work is rather dark. The knitting and crocheting she does is beyond professional level. Without practice, Vespera's voice is naturally on key, and very alluring.

Prized Possession: Her silver spider necklace, she found it at the warehouse she was hatched in during one of her ventures back to the UK. As if it was waiting for her.

Quote(s): Anything referencing spiders and psychology. "That spider is more scared of you than you are of it. Who told you that?"

History/Bio: Vespera has had the inherent power of her lineage since her first breath. Part of this power overrode her fathers traits, and allowed her mother to birth many offspring. However, as a result of this all of her siblings were female and and hatched with similar powers. This power comes with a number of spider like tendencies that are considered terrible by the general populace. Most namely the fact that they were indeed giant spiders for most intents and purposes. A complete lack of motherly instinct left them abandoned and forced to fend for themselves. Another is cannibalism. Without readily available food they turned on each other one by one until there was just Vespera. It was much too long ago for her to remember exactly what happened. Spider powers, namely the abilities to hunt and remain hidden kept her alive until she was discovered and captured. Over a year later a little girl was discovered in place of the mutant arachnid specimen. After some tests it was clear that she was one in the same. This resulted in her being taken in as an unusual wild child case. Scientists worked with her to make up for the human development she missed during the early part of her life. It wasn't like this was easy, not only did she still behave like a creature but she was extremely dangerous. The negative reinforcement they used to pacify her was necessary, but also her had a negative effect on her emotional development. At age seven she was taken into a hand selected home to be raised until she was of age to attend the academy. Under the care of a man who was into little girls and abused his guardianship of her. Her pheromones, which she hadn't learned to control yet, might have been what made him toe the line. All the other mechanics at play in the household actually did better bridge her transition to the academy.

When she first arrived she was socially awkward, practiced strange animalistic habits, and couldn't entirely keep her spider form suppressed. At the same time she wasn't open to and in fact feared normal looking people. She didn't eat anything but meat, and she would often throw up on her food then eat after. Or she might have been looking at somebody and gained an extra eye. Stuff like this got her ridiculed by select individuals. Unsurprisingly she eventually snapped when one of them who noticed she always had spiders around her and thought it would be amusing to them crush one by one to get a reaction out of her. Since she was able to communicate and some level relate to them in some ways it didn't go over well. After this incident she was taken away from the other students and worked on one on one until she was at a manageable level of control. What ultimately changed her demeanor was that at the academy it appeared that she was doing better off after responding with violence rather than worse. Coupled with the fact that her predator side enjoyed the thrill of the hunt. She was no longer picked on (in the same fashion at least) and fear switched from dominating her life to being her tool. Not everyone got the memo and so afterwards she took those who had wronged her to the arena. Eventually it became more than just pay back, she began to look for ways to elevate herself above the rest. As most of those who knew her story left and new people came into to judge her she almost stepped up to fill the role others had assigned her.

Family: Mother is out there somewhere, father and siblings deceased

Abilities

Power Class: Animal 7, Elemental 6

Power: Vespera has spider physiology and darkness manipulation. The first part of her abilities grants her passive spider like abilities and instincts in humanoid form. She is able to exert enough force to lift something four times her body weight. Her speed and endurance is such that she can sustainably run at a speed 25 miles an hour. In addition, she has wallcrawling, a heightened sense of smell, dark vision, and a seismic sense. Vespera secrets pheromones that make males at ease around her, and adversely makes females uncomfortable in her presence. This scent smells like a rose with a twinge of iron. It also attracts spiders of both genders indiscriminately, and she is able communicate with them.

Vespera is capable of taking on a form with physical spider like characteristics. When she does this she can gain six more eyes, and a pair of retractable mandibles. More drastic changes include her torso enlarges becoming two separate segments. The pelvic area becomes larger and more rounded whereas her front retains most of it's human features. Vespera's arms elongate, the fingers on her hands become sharp and pointed. Her legs shift unnaturally upward to the forward most part of her abdomen and become positioned at an outward angle before becoming spider like legs. Two more pairs spider like limbs protrude from her from expanded pelvic area, in front of her original legs. A good comparison would be a drider (think of a centaur with a spider body instead of a horse), except she has eight limbs in total. That and the divide between human and animal is less abrupt, more like 75 percent spider than half. While transformed to this degree of further Vespera's chitinous form would majorly occupy a ten foot by ten foot cubicle. Skin is replaced with a glossy black carapace. Fine, stiff hairs cover her body, but are only visible up close. While using this ability her strength and speed are doubled from her extra limbs. When using them to walk she can be near silent. Seismic sense is similarly doubled, and eyesight quadrupled. The addition of an exoskeleton provides a large amount of durability, especially against compressive forces. Damaged layers can be shed in exchange for new chiton that lay beneath. The remnants dissipate into a black smoke like substance that seems to roll off her body and consume itself. Her claws, leg tips, and fangs are natural weapons. Along with glands near her lymph nodes that produce an highly acidic neurotoxin, It is capable of eating through a foot of concrete in a minute. She can be inject it via bite, or spit it at a range of 25 feet. She is also capable of selectively transforming or retaining individual parts of her body. This is what allows her to create an exoskeletal limb that has finger like appendages.

Shadow Webs: Instead of having spinnerets, Vespera's creates and manipulates webs made of shadow. These are capable of being solid, incorporeal, or like actual spider web. Solid and traditional web are comparable to titanium bars or cables respectively. The former is capable of complete cover, even with it's gaps. Common uses for this is making walls and shields. Shooting balls of condensed shadow web are viable offence option. Incorporeal webs cannot be interacted with physically by anyone other than Vespera. Meaning that she can climb on them, while everything else passes through. Because the web is really generated elemental energy can be quickly made into complex shapes, and does not require anchoring. If it can be made of web, Vespera can make it. Currently she is learning to shape the ends of her constructs into spikes.

Inner darkness (unlocked later): In a 25 foot radius Vespera is capable of dampening the light levels. It originates from her and spreads outward in all directions. When at full strength the inside is completely devoid of light, outside it looks like a dome of night. Only the brightest of lights are capable of penetrating it's depths, this is further explained in her weaknesses. Most of them time she doesn't go all the way so she can still see. Other times the only purpose is to benefit her shadow webs without restricting vision as much.

Weaknesses/Limitations/Drawbacks: Vespera has weaknesses inherent of spiders, and of darkness users. Foremost is her fear of water, and the inability to swim at all in spider form. Spider legs are poor suited for swimming, with her extra body mass and exoskeleton she'd sink like a rock. Even without her entering liquid, her fear of it can give an opponent a terrain advantage. While in spider form, her black exoskeleton absorbs more radiation than lighter colored chitin would. Prolonged exposure will boil her in her carapace. Partially hydraulic locomotion requires excess blood. This in combination with having a lower body temperate than a normal person makes her susceptible to cold. Her movements will start to become sluggish and she will start to shut down quicker than a normal person, the exact rate is proportional degree of transformation. Switching into spider form is not instantaneous. Surprising her, or being quick allows an attacker to damage her more vulnerable humanoid form before she can react. Constant damage can prevent her from transforming at all. The main limiting factor is a degree anatomical correctness. Vespera is only able to make modifications that positionally make sense, and she can't exceed the quantity of parts a standard spider has. For example she can only produce two fangs, and they have to be from her mouth. Aside from smell spiders have inferior senses to humans, thus replacing her human sensory organs reduces her awareness (some spiders eye sight is nearly as good as humans though). Additionally, her spider form makes a larger target, and inhibits fitting through tight places. Her sensitive eyes are easily blinded by bright light. She can only store a cup of poison at a time, and it takes a half hour to fully replenish. The limited quantity makes it poor suited for breaching materials. Glass, some ceramics and metals are completely immune to or hardly affected by the acid. Rupturing her venom glands will cause extra damage to Vespera and deprive her of this offense option.

All of Vespera's darkness abilities are vulnerable to light, this is the most effective way to deal with shadow webs. Light attacks and light emitting abilities cut through them with ease. Durable blades is the next best method. In light levels above 500 lux (typical indoor light levels) they will start to weaken considerably. Exposed to direct sunlight they are no stronger than natural fibers. Additionally, light is also how best to counter the absolute darkness. Users that can directly manipulate light can nullify it. The brightest lights like lasers and plasma can also briefly penetrate the gloom. Anything short will still work as usual with extremely diminished illumination. This ability has a half an hour cool down when used to it's fullest. Excessive use of her shadow abilities causes exhaustion and eventually depletion, at which point she will have to recover before using them again. Injuring Vespera significantly while in human form, or penetrating the lower of her abdomen in spider form (where the spinnerets are usually housed) will cause her leak shadowy smoke quickly eliminating her reserve.
Basic Information

Name: Poppy Flanagan
Nickname/Alias/Etc: Strawberry, princess, brat
Gender: Female
Age: 14 almost 15
Height: 4'11½"
Weight: 98 lbs
Status: New student

Appearance

Hair Color: Fiery red
Eye Color: Emerald green
Ethnicity: Irish American

Physical Appearance: Poppy's most prominent feature is her carrot top mop, which is a fitting description for how much she has. Her hair has a lot of volume, waviness. It flows to just bellow her shoulder blades. Being short makes her head large by comparison to her body. This in combination with lingering baby fat makes her face look rounded, almost doll like were it completely symmetrical. Because of her small size her eyes seem unproportionately large to for head. This and the fact she inherited her mothers long eyelashes contribute to half the reason one of her nicknames is brat. Whether or not she agrees, her grooming practices back it up. If somebody looked close enough they would be able to tell that her eyebrows are plucked and manicured to be thin. Tripping while learning how to walk in heels has made her petite nose slightly crooked ever since. It's her hope to get it corrected once she stops growing. Poppy got her prominent ears pierced in four places as a fashion experiment and a way to spite her parents. As of the moment her uppermost ones are in the process of healing, the lower ones remain in use. Additionally her reckless nature earned her a few scars, all them are easy to hide except one bellow her chin. It remains as a horizontal line of discoloration nearly an inch in length. Her mouth is a above average sized and makes her lips look thin. The Flanagan's dentist has kept her pearly whites in good shape. Unfortunately for her they didn't come in very straight. Poppy's teeth are a bit staggered, her smile gap toothed. She used to wear braces, but since coming to the academy she has switched to using a retainer at night.

Tiny freckles are interspersed all over her body, most heavily clustered on her cheeks and back. Moles must like the same places, because she has one on her right cheek and shoulder blade. Splotchy pigmentless birthmarks are reoccurring on her body. Most of them are small, the exception are ones on her head, neck, and back. She's pretty pale so what isn't hidden by hair or clothes doesn't stand out to much, nonetheless though she takes cover up to the places that show each day. Like many girls first introduced to makeup Poppy uses quite a bit. However, unlike some of them she knows how to apply it properly. One of the only parts of her routine that hasn't changed since being enrolled at the academy. Poppy adamantly insists on using primer, lipstick/gloss, foundation, blush, contour, highlight, mascara, eyeliner, penciling, nail polish, the whole shebang. If she has colors other than black, white, red, pink, and purple she doesn't use them. Her build is slender, yet slightly chubby all over in the way only a child can be. Before the bodies fat starts congregating in certain areas. Though she has started into puberty, she is no where near to being a woman yet.

Attire: A decent portion of Poppy's wardrobe came along with her to the academy. This encompasses of skirts, blouses, dresses, gowns, camisoles, scarfs, shawls, stockings, and other formal wear. Footwear consists of slippers, heels, flats, pumps, sandals, D'Orsays, and boots. Even though she isn't big on headwear there are a number of sun, cocktail, Cecile, and Victorian hats to chose from in addition to bonnets, bows, headbands and veils. Their color palettes are identical to her choice in cosmetics. Jewelry of precious metal supplemented with valuable gems make up the bulk of her other accessories. These are worn in relative moderation. The only notable pieces are silver cross that her parents hoped would liken her to Catholicism, and a ten carat gold diamond ring that belonged to her great grandmother. Poppy doesn't process a single pair of pants or shorts. I'll specify her exact outfits IC.

Personality

Outward & Innate Personality: Spunky, sassy, arrogant, and opinionated are all good words to describe Poppy. She is perceived as prim and proper little girl that has way to much energy. Her impressive vocabulary combined with the fact she can talk a mile a minute often make conversation with her a quite a doozy. A high pitched voice doesn't help either. It's hard to politely disengage with her, because she can't take a hint when she's being a nuisance. Just about everyone has their breaking point, some sooner than others, and when they do tell her to buzz off she always does her best to make a scene. She'll use any combination of pouting, crossing her arms, looking away, contemptuous sound effects, name calling, or even wailing on the person with her tiny little fists. For her age she is surprisingly found of swear words, or more likely he effect they produce. Regardless of the case she rarely goes on for more than five minutes unless she receives undue attention. Of course this is rarely positive attention, and feisty Poppy isn't one to back down. Strangely though if she really gets somebody on a roll she will quiet up an simply smile at them until they quit or run out of breath. Each time she raps up her antics suddenly and moves on to something else. Finally Poppy is quite demanding. It's like a game to her to see how long it takes for people to cave into her whims. How polite she is depends on a multitude of factors.

On the inside Poppy always feels alone. In her efforts to get noticed she usually instead finds herself pushing others away. This a viscous cycle that has been going on ever since she was first enrolled in school. As a result she harbors resentment against those who are able to fit in and furthermore herself. More than once this has burst forth into sudden aggression, or prompted her to do something dangerous to see if anyone really cares. In the few cases where she has been made to feel like she belongs her true colors emerge. Poppy at heart is friendly, if a bit bossy. Should she ever join a group of friends she'd have no need to solicit everyone for attention. Additionally, she has a very idealistic view of the world. In her mind people should reap what they sow. To her it is incomprehensible when bad things happen to good people and vice versa. Poppy is extremely protective of her allies, and will do whatever it takes to keep them around. However it is a delicate balance, for in the past she has been overbearing and brought her own doubts to fruition. Each time Poppy has gotten close to somebody only for them to leave they have left an even bigger rift in her heart than the one they were filling.

Aside from what's listed above Poppy has the same fears and desires shared by most teenage girls.

Hobbies/Interests: Poppy is constantly looking for attention or that can make feel recognized, special, excited, talented, all the feelings her childhood lacks. She will go from one person to another trying all sorts of things. Anything that promotes a reaction she will keep up. Beyond this she is into what most young girls are. Dolls, stuffed animals, arts and crafts, sweet treats, cartoons, playing dress up, and so on. On the flip side she has some tomboy like tendencies, examples include mutilating her toys and watching relatively violet shows.

Skills/Talents: Poppy is smarter than her grade level as it was the only thing that her parents wouldn't let slide. Getting constant one on one tutoring has it's perks even if she doesn't realize it. Following this is things like dance, how to talk, and even how to walk in a formal manner. From a young age a bow and violin we placed in her hands, over the years she has become a talented musician. Due to her upbringing she can speak both English and Irish fluently, she is currently learning French. Lastly, Poppy is clever and rather good at getting what she wants.

Prized Possession: A naked barbie doll with it's blonde hair clipped unevenly. It is also missing a leg. Poppy named it Paulina, she tries to keep it out of sight of others.

Quote(s): "Let's play house! I'll be me and you'll be my servant. Okay?"

History/Bio: A pretty standard story of a neglected, but otherwise pampered little girl. Poppy was raised by a nanny and sent to a prestigious private school. Servants waited on her every need and if it could be bought with money it was hers. This lasted most of grade school until her inability to keep her hands to herself got her thrown out. In place her parents hired a private tutor instead of addressing the problem. All in all she was well on track to becoming a lonely selfish person. All that changed when her father failed to keep yet another promise. Something unexplained happened that wound him in the hospital. What was certain however is that is Poppy was somehow involved. So when an invitation to the academy came they were all too willing to send her off.

Abilities

Power Class: Energy/Cerebral 4-8

Power: Poppy can transform into a physical manifestation of retribution, a combination of vengeance embodiment and empowerment. This ability requires fuel in the form of her desire to punish others for their trespasses. Whether it's against her or someone else it doesn't matter, if she considers an action wrong it will add to the strength of her next or current use. Multiple offenses and perpetrators compound. Once Poppy reaches the point where she would consider violent revenge her power is primed for use. When activated her body becomes an eerie red, somewhat translucent energy. Matching spectral wings and talons protrude from her back and fingertips. While in use Poppy gains incredible strength, and a destructive aura proportionate to her desire to punish. The latter extends up to three inches from her body and also serves a defensive purpose by degrading attacks that pass through it. At the lowest her physical prowess is equivalent to an adult male in peak physical condition, the damaging aura would be similar to natural fire if all materials were equally flammable. In the past it has gotten to where Poppy could throw cars, at this level her aura is comparable to contacting a plasma arc. Regardless of how wronged she feels her other capabilities always remain the same. These are complete dark vision, supernatural flight at a maximum sustainable speed of thirty five miles per hour, and defunct physiology. Damage sustained while powered up is not transferred her human form and is reset upon powering down.

Later on she will gain the ability to relinquish her energy through forgiveness and use it to heal rather than transform.

Weaknesses/Limitations/Drawbacks: Firstly, Poppy is unable to use her power freely as stated above. She has to both be wronged to the point of aggression and in the presence of the one responsible. Anyone who she herself has wronged can get even with her without giving her power, after all it's only fair. Next, while in her embodiment she gets tunnel vision for those who deserve punishment. Her transformation may not look that much different, but make no mistake that all that remains of her is blind desire with no self conservation whatsoever. Unsurprisingly her tactics in battle are reckless and predictable. This also makes training with her gift useless to her and dangerous to others. To emphasize her focus she is unable to physically interact with or harm those who are on neutral terms or better with her. However, they are still able to physically interact with her. Whether Poppy collides with them or phases through depends on who instigated the contact. Keep in mind that she can still make enemies of those who start conflict with her.

Additionally, vengeance is only served once and it doesn't matter how. Upon delivering suitable retribution she returns to human form unconscious and her former target(s) are given clean slates as far as her power goes. If she chooses to get back at them in any other fashion the same thing goes. For example if somebody called her a name and she spat one right back she would gain nothing against them. Finally, Poppy has to know who wronged her with one hundred percent certainty. This means witnessing it or hard evidence. Should she be fooled and attempt to exact revenge on the wrong person she will immediately lose access to her gift and take the damage she would have dealt to her human form. The duration of the downtime is tied to how long it takes for the self inflicted wound to heal. Mind effects and illusions used in this fashion are extremely effective at countering her before she powers up.
Looking forward to trying this again, for those I don't recognize hello guys!

Will have my sheets up soon.
