I honestly think his pride will be wounded either way. He is a leader and someone that people have looked up to, and in a sense he feels that he is expected to be "better" than normal. So for him to "give in" to his urges, I think would be a very traumatic experience for him. I did consider allowing it to happen as he slept, or in subconscious daze, and I like that the same idea came to you independently, so I'll definitely include that.

Alright, so the first one is going to take 10-12 days, but gradually his own willpower will begin breaking down and the time intervals will get shorter. We can timeskip through some of it though.
Well... okay, if a human were starving, and there was food five feet away, but the human knew it was poisoned and would essentially make him a slave forever, would he eat it? That's basically the situation Erik will be in. I think the answer is, "it depends on the human." And in my mind, Erik did not become the leader of the local resistance by being weak-willed. So, in any case, it will at least take him a long time... I would think on the order of 10-12 days, to finally give in and drink it.
I'll be interested to see how Alexi is going to get Erik to take the potion... sounds like it's going to have to be a forced injection, because Erik would seriously die before taking a breaking potion willingly.

Have all sharp objects been removed from Alexi's room, basically anywhere even remotely within Erik's reach? Because within a couple of days, the pain will be so bad that he will be looking for ways to kill himself.
Thanks. Both of us that were in the house got out safely, and my grandmother is telling anyone who will listen that I "saved her life." Everyone that we know has been really awesome and supportive. We are staying with a neighbor who's like family to us. Lots of friends have been coming over to help in any way that they can. Even my online friends have been really supportive.
So I finished my final, and was settling down to write a post for you, had it about half-done and was going to finish it up the next morning... but then (no joke), half my house burned down. It made the news and everything. So I sort of lost the post I had set up on my PC, and I'm super-busy helping my grandmother get things in order. I'm really sorry to keep you waiting again, as I was trying to make a concerted effort to speed things up on our stories, but real life is seriously WTF-ing us right now.

My grandad had major open-heart surgery on Monday as well, and he's in ICU now... so we had that going on, and then the house catches on fire and the police and fire department couldnt figure out why.
It's all good. Thanks for the fast responses. I'm really busy right now because I have my Calculus 3 final coming up on Tuesday. So I'll respond on Wednesday most likely.
There are like a thousand intepretations of vampires, so I'm going more with just a "different race of beings." They have roughly the same biological needs as humans, except they also have the need for blood.
The way I'm imagining it, Vampires still drink water like anyone else, in addition to blood. Even if he's not allowed water now, he would still have to go from what he had drank before he was captured. I could go with that he won't die from dehydration, and would just basically feel sick and thirsty, if Alexi denies him that, but he would still have to go now. But yeah, I suppose it would work if he gave him a chamber pot.

Do you have any idea how long you want it to take before he starts needing blood? I'm thinking 48 hours for him to feel "hungry" and then by 72 hours it's basically like torture to not have it?
I hate to say it, but if Erik is going to be chained to the bed the entire time, my posts for him are going to wind up being quite short. There's only so much I can write about when he can't really do anything. Now, I don't mind short posts, but it's just a warning.

Also, how is he supposed to do things like use the bathroom? Hate to be crude, but seriously...
How does Alexi have all of his money? I mean I understand it's been in the family for generations, but the cash would run out without some level of investing and further income and such. Especially with that kind of extravagance, damn.

As a bonus question, you're welcome to inform me of the history of how the Vandros family became so wealthy many generations ago? But that's less important to me than what Alexi does to maintain that wealth.
