The night before...

Death surrounds
My heartbeat’s slowing down
I won’t take this world’s abuse
I won’t give up, I refuse!

This is how it feels when you’re bent and broken
This is how it feels when your dignity’s stolen
When everything you love is leaving
You hold on to what you believe in

The last thing I heard was you whispering goodbye
And then I heard you flat line

No, not gonna die tonight
We're gonna stand and fight forever

The music blared through the set of headphones that Zef had bought from the muggle store in london, he stood completely still his feet were extended slightly on each side, in front of him was a training dummy he had constructed himself. In reality it was just a souped up scare crow but it served training purposes quite well, he did not have many friends with him during summer break, his closest friends only visiting every now and again during his break, and himself he was unable to make himself leave his grandmother alone seeming she was alone long enough when he went to school. His grandmother was a strong person, but as she would always tell him, not even the strongest person in the world can beat time. Even though he had moved past the events of his life when he was five, he still feared that there was a reason he was not killed that night. he did not know what it is was, and he always feared his grandmother might be attacked she too had be an Auror in her younger days. No... he wouldn't let it happen, he would be ready when the day came he would not lose his grandmother too, not like that.

Zef flicked his wrist as his wand came free from the leather restraint he kept above his wrist, he swished his wand very quickly as the word Expelliarmus flashed through his head, in and instant the stick depicting a wand in the dummys hand flew away and disappeared into the dark. Waving his wand again in quick succession, confringo flashed through his mind, a ball of fire erupted from his wand and smashed into the dummy there was a small explosion as the entire dummy set on fire in brilliant flames. In another quick swish of his wand the word Defodio raced through his mind, in quick slices with his wand chunks of the dummy fell from the whole and hit the ground. In one more swish of his wand the word reducto flashed through his mind as a ball of brilliant light flashed and hit the dummy, it almost instantly disintegrated and the entire dummy fell to the ground in small pieces making a pile of ash and dust.

Zef lowered his want as the last of the flames slowly went out in a gust of wind, as the wind hit him Zefs hair flew back a little bit as the cool air felt good on his face. Turning he looked at the lake he was near, the moon was glinting off of it and creating a silver lining to it. Walking to the edge he slowly took a set setting his down next to his hand, he watched the calmness of the lake, there were small ripples here and there as the wind blew but other then that it was perfectly still. Zef took out the headphones and the device from his pocket, he set it beside him, he sat there for a time just looking at the surface of the water. No one really knew but this was Zef's private place to come and be alone, a place he could think, no one ever came here for one reason or another so it worked for him perfectly. Zef thought about going back to Hogwarts in only mere hours, and about his friends whom he found himself missing more and more as time went on. Truth was he needed his friends, they made it so much more bearable and less painful to live with the memories of that night.

They probably wouldn't know that though, he had never been one to show his emotions in front of anyone, maybe besides his grandmother, and only Calvin knew about his parents dieing and the way they died. Thats how they truly clicked with each other, neither one of them had a perfect childhood, they both had suffered great pain at a young age, and because of that strived to become stronger in its wake. He had wanted to tell the others about his parents and what really happened, but he felt that perhaps it was not time to tell Rin,Adelie and Stella. They cared for him like he did for them, and perhaps it was better to just not make them worry, worry that he would do something stupid because of the way he felt all the time. His grandmother did that enough, she often told him so that she was always there for him, and that anytime he needed to cry she would be his shoulder. He just wished he could bring himself to do it, to let it out, to let it go, but in life he had made himself strong and he refused to cry or to pity himself.

Perhaps that day would come when everything would finally shatter, and the person who murdered his parents would come for him, and they would duel to the death and he would finally face the demon that had long hid in the deep recesses of his mind. Zef was suddenly snapped from his thought when he heard the approaching foot steps behind him, gripping his wand quickly he got up from the ground and looked behind him. Swishing his wand the words lumos maxima went through his head, waving his wand a ball of light shot into the air and illuminated the area below. Zef relaxed when he realized it was merely his grandmother in the distance, only she would be able to see pas the charms he had put up to conceal the fact he was here, he should have guess from the start but his paranoia of attack was always there. His grandmother slowly came over, she was tow feet shorter then he was, but she always had such a cheerful face which was a god send to Zef, she was silent as she slowly sat down near the edge of the lake and patted the ground next to her. That was always her way of telling him she wanted him to sit down so she could talk to him.

Zef sat down beside her as they both seemed to just stare at the lake for a bit, the silence lasted for awhile before Zefs grandmother finally spoke,

"I figured I would find you here Zamir, you always did like this lake, although I have to say gifted as you are in DADA you sure do need work on your charms skills, any witch with a brain could see through yours."

Zef smiled a bit as he knew she was right in that, he was not the best at charms but at least they were good enough that no muggle could accidentally stumble upon him training so he was content with his skills for now.

"You know me and your grandfather used to come here long ago, so its no surprise you found this place to me, me and you we often do think alike in a lot of ways. If your mother was still here she would laugh at how similar we are, she always found something funny in everything that was one of her gifts, being able to always laugh in the grimmest of situations. I know your thinking about them, you cant pull one over on Granny Rea, it seems the more you grow the more you think about your parents which is more then understandable. Sometimes it is hard for me too knowing my little girl is gone now, I can imagine it is harder for you."

"I guess... I just don't understand why what happened had to happen. The more I think about the more it just seemed to make less sense then it did before."

"You know for all your intelligence sometimes it just doesn't work in the places you want it to the most. I am almost seventy years old and even I can't figure out why some things happen, just as I don't know why some things don't. Your problem is you think too much on things that you won't find the answer to, sometimes the answer is not presented to us because were not ready to understand why yet. You are young Zamir, and yet you have had to deal with things that grown men have trouble with, I should know I have watched you grow up in pain, was there when you woke up from your nightmares... I guess what I am trying to say is that you have your whole life ahead of you now, and as hard as it is you have to learn how to let go of that pain you feel. Its not easy but you will find a way one day, you will grow more and you will find a girl and start a family of your own, the secret is to just keep walking my grandson, do you understand?"

"I think I do grandma, truly."

"Good then come on home and get packed, its your last year and I am not bringing you anything you forget, I may look younger then my age but I am too old to be bringing you your underwear anymore."

Zef laughed as he slowly got up with his grandmother, looking out at the lake one last time he smiled and turned, there was a harsh noise and they were both gone from the side of the lake.

Current Morning...

"Pack"

Zef swished his wand as his trunk quickly finished packing itself, as it closed he turned and picked up the hoody off his bed and put it over his body, putting the hood over his head he went over to the cage nearby and opened it. Outstretching his arm Talan jumped onto it as the talons poked at his arm a bit, going to the window he opened it and gave Talan a quick nuzzle with his fingers across her cheek and then put his arm out the window for her to make her journey to Hogwarts. Going back to his bed he slowly put on his old worn black boots and laced them up tight, he was finally ready to get going, making his way downstairs he came into the livingroom where his grandmother was silently snoozing in her favorite chair. Walking up to her he gave her a quick peck on the cheek and walked over to the fire place, he would not wake her, reaching over he took some floo power from the mantle and walked into the fire place looking back one last time.

"Bye grandma see you soon"

With that he clearly spoke Kings cross station clearly and threw down the black powder almost instantly he popped out onto the crossing. Pulling along his trunk he descended down among the many people hustling and bustling to catch their trains. Zef slowly made his way through the crowds and came to platform 9 3/4, almost casually he walked through the wall and quickly appeared on the other side where the Hogwarts express hissed loudly, he was meant with another hustle and bustle of people, students and parents alike going in every direction. He smiled at some of the younger kids who were no doubt new years, they were so full of wonder and adventure very much he had been that first year, it did always bring him certain joy to see their excitement. Quickly storing his trunk away he slowly boarded the train and started walking down the aisle of different cars and room looking out for any of his friends. As he walked he felt a rather harsh knock into his shoulder looking over Edward lugnist had purposely bumped into him passing by, his fellow Slytherin house student gave him that knowing glare and then quickly disappeared in the crowd down the car. Shaking his head Zef looked in one of the rooms and saw Calvin inside, turning he went to walk in and quickly bumped his head on the door like he always did.

"ugh damn it, I wish they would make these higher."

Zef grabbed his head as he quickly took a seat across from Calvin who was no doubt probably laughing on the inside and would be laughing on the outside, smiling Zef gave a hand to his friend.

"Good to see you Calvin, an equally good to know I wasn't the last one in this time, the girls just love to laugh at me when I smack my head on that door. How was your summer?"

Adelie: Meant her during Quidditch after he saved her from a calculated and deliberate act from another slytherin to knock her off her broom with a bludger. Zef respects Adelie not only for the fact that she often worries about him, but also because she is gentle and kind even if he does find her too trusting of others. They both get a long well even though she often gets embarrassed when Zef is blunt. She introduced Zef to everyone else in the group.

Rin: Rin and Zef are what you call rivals in a lot of ways her being adept in DADA very much like he is they are always having little duels here and there to try and overcome the other which usually ends in a draw. Zef respects Rin for her ability to drive him to the edge when dueling and her attitude that has no end. They are probably among the closest in the group if not because of their friendly competitions but it depends on whos looking at it. Meant Rin through Adelie

Stella: Stella and Zef have what you might call a tin and foil type relationship, while they both have respect for each others morals they differ widely most often being that both have tendencies to do things the other disagrees with. But in reality this is sort of the same thing that makes them friends, you know what they say opposites always tend to attract and work in the end. Meant Stella through Adelie.

Calvin: Respects Calvin deeply not only because of their pasts being eerily similar in some ways, but because they both have nightmares in their pasts and they both strive for something more then that past. Also being the only males of their group they more often then not have banded together and Calvin is the only one he has ever really shared the truth of his past with. Meant Calvin through Adelie as well.

Ok I did my best on this haha my head has been so bloody all over the place its hard to write xD

Gavril silently watched the young Lycan bound around the room gleefully enjoying the rather dark atmosphere of the world it found itself in. He had not exspected much fear from the Lycan but then again he had no expected such joy about it either, however these thoughts were trivial so he just let them exit his mind as the young lycan finally came and took a seat. When she told him that there was no questions he nodded his head and then began to speak.

You are like most of your kind, that much is true, there is so must blood lust in your eyes it is almost intoxicating even to me who does not find pleasure much anymore in hunting down weaker prey. However like most of you kind you are also impatient and unable to control yourself, needing and wanting to hunt is pretty much all most Lycans think about day an night. However what I am about to say might be a tad... how would a human put it... aggravating so in the spirit of you not flying off the handle and making this harder then it has to be..."

Gavril snapped his fingers as thick chains made of silver wrapped themselves around the lycan completely holding her to the chair and limiting her movements completely so that only her head could easily move.

"Don't worry I know silver is lethal to your kind, but as long as your in my world you will be fine as long as you don't aggravate me. You know I have always found it interesting how something as simple as silver could be so lethal to your kind, in my younger days I used to research for the hell of it why silver was so deadly to your kind, you know living 4000 some odd years of life, older demons need something to do. Some would argue that silver works on you because it is what you might call a pure metal, then again silver was also one of the same metals holy men used in the crusades and it is said that silver is a blessed metal by the almighty God that so many people find themselves believing in. Me I think that when something so pure meets something so dark it just... doesn't mix, and thus the stronger side wins if it be the dark or the light. I suppose you can believe whatever you want to believe. I have seen stronger older lycans survive a direct shot to their heart with silver, I suppose its all a matter of how strong the darkness is to withstand it. Then again... I was the one who hit that lycan in the heart with the blade so I would know really."

Gavril let out a rather crude laugh as he got up from his chair, it was obvious that even through his calm manner he was thoroughly enjoying himself, maybe a bit too much, it had been so long since he had snared a lycan in his icy gaze. Putting his hand out a blade forged of silver appeared in his hand as he observed it idly before looking at the young lycan.

"As I said such an unattractive, non lethal metal being so dangerous to Lycans, its something that I can't fully understand even today. Anyways..."

Gavril tossed the blade into the air as it disappeared almost instantly into the darkness surrounding them. Gavril walked up to the young lycan and went around the back of her chair and slowly put his hands over the chains that were on her shoulders, the chains instantly heated up, no doubt the young lycan could feel a hot touch on her shoulder.

"I can tell your getting rather impatient, but perhaps its time that you develop some lycan, because you have no idea what your attempting to hunt, but I do and it would be wise to hear me out on this. The group of humans in this hunt, most of them are seasoned hunters, one in particular is a step above the rest, you might know him as Rand or maybe you don't know him. He has hunted your kind for years, and has killed a fair amount of Lycans in his life, maybe not as many as me but enough that its notable. With him is his protege, a younger boy that goes by the name of Connor, he has personally trained this boy in the art of hunting and no doubt he is a lot more dangerous now then he was in the past. Let me show you..."

Gavril snapped his fingers and the room swirled again and then suddenly turned into what appeared to and old room in and ancient castle in the room was standing a young man armed with an iron sword, it was almost like a still shot.

"That is Connor he does not look too different then when he tried to kill me, so it shouldn't be too hard even for a simple lycan to tell the difference between him here and him now as and older man. A couple years ago or so he tracked me down with the intent to kill me, broke into my castle, and in the very room you are seeing he fought me and lost none the less. But I did not kill him, in fact I told him that I would let him live until the day came when he was a stronger adversary for me to fight for killing the weak is a pointless and unheeded gesture to me now. Connor is here now, on this island with his teacher Rand, and the time has come for me to fight him again and this time if he loses then he will die."

Gavril snapped his fingers again as the room went back to being a black void, taking his hands off the lycans shoulders he retook his seat and glared at her with his yellow eyes and continued to speak.

"You see the problem is that Connor is in a group of hunters, one of them is dangerous enough even without weapons, so fighting more then one at once is fruitless, because I want to abduct him, I don't want him wounded or tired from fighting, my reasons for this are my own and none of your concern but I need him alive and unharmed so this makes me finding myself asking for assistance and so we finally come to why I even bothered to talk to you. I am going to infiltrate this group of people, I could not start out with them, for I could not risk them finding out who I am by asking too many questions, and even though I have altered my appearance within the past years so it is hard to track me by sight but there was the rick they would have figured it out. But they will not figure out who I am if they are in the heat of battle and paranoia. So this is what I want from you, I am going to run into this group completely by accident running for my life quote unquote, and your going to provide the distraction I need to grab Connor and depart, I need them split up to the point where no one sees me take him, I am sure with your speed and aggression this would be and easy task for you. After I have Connor you can have whomever you wish, I do not care in the slightest about the rest of them. But don't get me wrong..."

Gavril stood back up and got real close to the Lycan and put his eyes directly into hers and spoke harshly.

"I will kill anyone or anything that gets in my way to Connor, I am not here to hunt for fun I am here because I want something more then that. I don't care if I break the rules, I would rather not go that route for it would only make getting to Connor that much harder, but I am prepared to do so if left with no choice. Swallow your anger little Lycan, I want your help in this and in return you will get all the blood you want. So what is your answer?"
Gavril stared the Lycan directly in her eye's almost instantly his eye's turned a deep shade of yellow and all of a sudden in the lycans eyes the world started to spin and twirl like a whirlpool. The world seemed to drain of color almost as if the very fabric of the current location was tearing, soon the ground cracked violently and inky blackness started to rise from the ground like arid smoke, it swirled around violently as the entire area became nothing but a pitch black void. Sky and ground became black as if there was no longer anything there, the atmosphere turned cold like a blasting winter. As the lycan would breath she would see her every breath freeze in front of her face, and she would feel the coldness on her skin. The area was quiet for a moment before Gavril suddenly appeared out of the inky blackness his eye's still deep yellow, looking around he seemed to enjoy the current location they were in.

"Ah I have always appreciated this place, you see this place is of my own creation, you might look at it as if its bland and boring, however if you were to spend an eternity in here I don't think you would be able to tell the difference between what is real and what is not anymore."

Gavril floated up into the air silently as he floated over to the Lycan, she look but a young girl now a lot of here features returning back to human. Slowly he set himself back down in front of her and looked down upon her.

"Now that we are secluded and in a place where no one can hear us, lets talk. But first given I am feeling rather charitable given you chose to make this easy on me, I will answer whatever questions you have."

Gavril silently snapped his fingers as a large chair appeared behind him, slowly he sat down, snapping fingers again a smaller chair appeared for the Lycan to sit in and use if she wished to do so.

DING!... DING!... DING!...

Gavril still watched the monitors when the alarm had gone off to start the hunt, as predicted the humans were panicky at least the ones who were not hunters, the irony was that the Siren was rather playing her part pretty well besides for being over dramatic. Even just watching the performance told Gavril that much, and besides he had been alive for over 4000 years even on a video feed he could tell a Siren apart from a human. Sirens very much like other supernatural creatures had an interesting way of acting human, to a demon these forms of acting is an indication that the person in question is not a person at all, and then every creatures had their own type of acting that indicates that much. It was a rather useless ability in some cases, in fact he would not call it much of an ability, just being smart enough to notice that someone is not as human as they would like other creatures to think. Whatever the case would be Gavril did not have time to dawdle, he did not wish for the other hunting creatures to reach his target first and possibly kill him. But the question that came to mind was how he could draw this man away from the group so he could abduct him, it would not be an easy extraction, even weaponless hunters were extremely resourceful and dangerous in their own rights. Gavril was not so stupid that he would walk into a group of hunters with no plan, unlike these other creatures... he could already hear the howling now, he could feel that blood lust in the air, which told him that they were not making plans but intended to attack head on. Perhaps he could use that to an advantage... if he could get one of the other creatures to attack the group on his command then the confusion would easily distract his target and he could swoop in and put him under his icy gaze and force him to come with him. But he would have to use a lycan it seemed, he could not approach the Siren without drawing suspicion, and Lycans were not known for their helpfulness.

Gavril had no choice, he could hear the howl outside and knew the nearest lycan was on the hunt turning from the console of screens he dashed out the door at a good speed he had to get ahead of the lycan if he wanted to talk to it. Gavril was quick to run in the direction he heard the howl, Lycans were fast but he was also gifted with great speed which he would work to his advantage. Increasing his speed the trees zipped by fast as he weaved left and right avoiding them with relative ease slowly he let his ears and nose do the searching, Lycans were smelly creatures that was for sure, what they lacked in sound they made up for in smell if you had good enough senses to smell it. Gavril had meant more lycans then he cared to remember the smell was burned into his very being by now. Gavril came to a sudden stop as he feet skidded on the dirt ground leave a small trail of dust in its wake, smelling the current area he got feint spikes of must and odor, quickly changing direction he ran off in another direction, this lycan was wildly moving through the woods. Upping his speed again Gavril kept the pace for a couple moments keeping his eyes open for any sign of movement, moments later he caught sight of something moving up ahead at a great pace, that had to be the Lycan or something of similar nature. Gavril kept his speed twisting around the creature he got ahead of it on the right, it no doubt would know he was there but that made no difference, turning he made a direct line into its path and stopped hard right in front of the lycan, putting his hand up he spoke.

"Stop lycan I want to talk!"

Either the lycan would try to attack him or run through him, or if it was in a good mood it would stop for him, he just wanted it to stop but if experience told him anything he would have to force it to submit. That in itself was complicated given he was not allowed to attack other creatures during the hunt, but he was never one for rules anyways.
