Name: Wechuge (Weh-choo-geh) or "Gigarctos thalassios"
(When in bipedal stance)
General body shape.Appearance: Similar to most polar bears, the kaiju has thick white fur, large clawed paws, and a stout core. Unlike other polar bears, the proportions of Wechuge is much heftier. Limbs that resemble pillars of muscle, paw pads larger than boulders, and a large maw that resemble caverns prove that giant bears are bad news.
Wechuge is mostly quadrupedal to evenly distribute his mass, especially on icy surfaces. Although it can stand on two legs and walk as such, it typically prefers to move on all fours for better locomotion. The Gigarctos thalassios also utilizes its wide paws as oars with an aquatic environment too. Overall, it still moves just like a regular polar bear.
Size: 45 meters (approx 148 feet) tall when on all fours, 90 meters (approx 295 feet) tall when on hind legs. Overall is said to be around thirty times the size and volume of a regular polar bear.
First Appearance: Wechuge was peacefully hibernating until miners in Alaska witnessed "living caverns" its slumber. Terra confirmed the sighting after disturbing the creature from deep sleep. Annoyed and cranky after the perceived home invaders rudely broke into the bear's territory, it roared loud enough to shatter windows. This was a mere warning, fortunately. After retreating, they noticed the same giant bear was not going after them. After the team has been repelled, Wechuge resumed slumbering until the spring. Once it awakened, it ventured to make up for lost time.
Abilities: Other than what's expected of a giant polar bear, Wechuge has abilities to help it fight other titans.
Ice Breath: Especially in the frigid zones of Alaska and the Arctic, Wechuge is able to expel a breath so cold it can envelop ice at a target. The colder the environment, the more potent the breath is.
Climbing: The clawed digits and opposable thumbs of the big bear allow it to climb most, if not every surface that can support its mass. Mountains are typically target of Wechuge's climbs.
Swimming: Wechuge's large paws able it to swim adeptly, especially in the Arctic waters.
Toughness: Copious amounts of fur, skin, muscle and fat all work as one to provide a high resistance, if not complete immunity, to conventional ballistic weapons. It also confers some resistance to melee combat, but not to the extent of aforementioned resistance to conventional ballistic weapons.
Running speed: Wechuge is surprisingly fast when running on all fours. Although it usually walks in a lumbering pace, it can give a sprint of up to 349 km/hr or 217 mph.
Bestial strength: The strength is already given to be tremendous. But in Wechuge's case, one swipe can knock down a skyscraper. The jaw strength is nothing to be ignored: Its jaws can give a crunch of 36000 psi (around 24821 Newtons per square-centimeter).
Weaknesses: The most obvious weakness is that Wechuge sacrifices defense for offense when standing on its hind legs. Though standing on two legs allows it to swipe and attack better, the bear's body is more exposed.
Furthermore, the giant polar bear is not at all comfortable with high temperatures. The fur turns from asset into liability when it comes to heat or incendiary weaponry.
Activity is also dependent on seasons. During a winter season, it becomes more sluggish and less attentive. It is typically active for up to nine months out of an entire year.
Personality: The gigantic polar bear isn't very aggressive without provocation. While doesn't go out of its way to be a threat to humans, it always considered humanity to be a nuisance or an inconvenience. Just how humanity regards insects, that's how it regards humans. This translate into having no regard for collateral damage. However, if the Gigarctos thalassios regards another entity as a threat, it will set out to destroy it.
History: Named after a man-eating spirit in Native American mythology, Wechuge was known throughout tradition as a ravenous predator. It normally kept to itself as it typically preferred to devour seals. Conflicts with humans were rare as nobody wanted to provide a reason for the giant polar bear to destroy villages. In return, the beast kept to itself.
Rumor had it that the beast was created from an act of cannibalistic gluttony. Said rumors came from myths and legends to explain the nature of the beast as it devoured wildlife and humans who pick a fight with the giant bear. Also from said myths and legends, it is attributed to be a precursor of the wendigo myths.
While Terra suspected a kaiju somewhere in the frigid Alaska, the awakening of the Gigarctos thalassios validated all suspicions the organization had. At the time, Terra decided not to contain it as Wechuge resumed hibernation.
Other: The intelligence level of Wechuge is around primate level.
