So, in the interest of spurring OOC discussion (so we can get to the 2000th post and it can be used for something that isn't a GIF of Thanos dabbing), what is, all time, your favorite single piece of superhero media? It can be a movie, TV show, comic run, anything of your choosing.
When it comes to movies, the original
The Crow and
The Watchmen stand out for me. (Ya know, those two comic related movies that were rated R before Deadpool came around.) When it comes to animated movies I really enjoyed DC's
A New Frontier. My favorite television series is still
Smallville with
Spectacular Spider-Man and
Justice League being my fave animated series.
All three (or is it four?) volumes of
Ultimate Spider-Man are my favorite comic book series. I think Spidey is as his best as a teenager and young adult. I liked some of the re-imagining of some of the characters, especially Jessica Drew. I enjoyed the writing for the most part, though I was kinda annoyed that Peter kept losing his mask.
The Spectacular Spider-Man Vol. 1 #200 was an enjoyable read for me back in the day. Titled "Best of Enemies", the story centers around Spidey, Mary Jane, and Harry Osborn. Per the '
Sliding Timescale' of Earth-616, Gwen Stacy died roughly five years prior to this story. At this point in the comics, Norman Osborn is still considered to be dead, and Harry is the current Green Goblin.
My favorite story/graphic novel is still
Kraven's Last Hunt. It originally was a six part story than ran through the three Spider-Man titles published in late 1987. Unlike the past couple of animated series, in the comics Kraven is someone who can be a serious threat to Spidey. He proves it in this in the first issue/chapter of this story by not only defeating Spider-Man in battle, but burying him alive afterwards! Marvel published a sequel to this story in 1992 titled
Soul of the Hunter which is also a good read.
