@Vandy I think you're taking things a little more personally than intended. You do your thing, homie.

Its probably the internet's fault and the fact that its easy to read something differently than the writer intended. Wasn't trying to be difficult I just really want to play in this game you've set up. I'll take the Magneto stuff and the more over the top points I noticed myself out. Other than that can we agree to disagree 'homie?'

If you play Lex without an ounce of nuance all you're going to do is play a caricature of Lex.

You have to bear in mind that Lex himself doesn't consider himself a bad guy - he thinks he's a good guy. Nobody walks around thinking they're a bad guy (except maybe Thanos) otherwise they wouldn't do anything at all. Nobody is suggesting you play Lex as a hero. Just that you remember in his own story he is the protagonist and that at this point in the story he's at the top of his game. The Justice League are the undisputed premier superhero team in the world and LexCorp is doing well.

You have an opportunity to do something other than Superfriends Lex. Make use of it.

I was never going to have him walk around evil laughing as he murders dozens of people. In fact I just looked over my sheet and think that that little Christmas day thing was dumb and bad. I realize he doesn't see himself as the bad guy. That I know. His criminal connections are there so he can make money and then send the Justice League after to gain fame. He isn't running a human trafficking ring, he isn't a drug lord, and he certainly isn't planning on taking over the planet with some kind of mega superhero mind control device. He's not about to go give weapons to terrorists unless he plans on taking them out. That's having fun with him leading the JLA, do you really not think he would set himself up with enemies to fight when things quiet down? And he is definitely going to go after real bad guys. Its not like I'm saying all JLA villains are funded by Lex Luthor. He's not emperor Palpatine. I don't see why I can't have him be the leader of the JLA without him being a manipulative jerk out for himself. Yeah he wants to use people like Captain America but its not like he's going to send him to unwittingly kill the Queen of England.

And frankly saying that my character is without an ounce of nuance or is "superfriends Lex" is pretty uncalled for. Perhaps we should discuss this via PM instead of on the actual OOC. This probably won't get us anywhere as it is apparent that you have a certain way you want Lex to be portrayed and I think you're seeing "he has criminal connections" as "Lex is openly stating that he intends to rule the world."
Can we cut the Magneto stuff? I'm also not very fond of the Mercy/Lex thing either - it seems a little tad unsophisticated for Lex.

Your Lex reads a little too "Mwahaha!" evil. Too Norman Osborn in Dark Avengers. I'm not sure whether you ever read it but I think Lex at this stage is more Helmut Zemo in the Thunderbolts. He's been funding the world's premier super team for several years and whilst it began as a ploy to spite Superman there's a part of him that is beginning to enjoy the adulation. Rubbing shoulders with Captain America has rubbed off on him more than he'd like.

Ultimately he's still Lex and when push comes to shove he's still going to be the same old Lex. But... don't be afraid to have a little fun with him being in charge of the JLA. A little uncertainty is a good thing.

Well I mean, Lex IS a bad guy. He is the bad guy that everyone thinks is a good guy, sure he is leading the Justice League but he is Lex Luthor. He's doing it to further his agenda. I can dial it down some I guess but I'm not going to play Lex as a good guy or a "misunderstood" business man. He's selfish and doing what he thinks will further grow his power, that's who he is. I plan to have all his criminal stuff blow up in his face, lose the Justice League, go full evil, truly try to redeem himself and become a better person, fall back into old habits. I don't want him to be bleeding heart redemption story yet when he hasn't been beaten into that or have a life changing experience for that to happen.

I know I'm just a player, but my opinion of the whole "Lex secretly is behind the MRA and Kelly didn't come up with it himself" bothers me. It kind of takes away Kelly's political climate and tries too hard to make Lex behind everything morally unscrupulous. Not a fan.

That was really more of a "hey maybe we should do something about these mutants" thing than a "here is my plan on getting rid of these people, you should do it or I murder your family" thing. Maybe the bullet point history didn't convey that well.
@Morden Man Here he is. Let me know if I need to change anything. I'm also going to mention @Blue Demon in case you get Cap and want to change some things in history and relationships. Same to @Lord Wraith for Batman stuffs.

How (if at all) does the New Frontier version of your character differ from the original?:
This version of Lex is born in Metropolis itself instead of his normal early origin of Kansas. Other than that he is still pretty much the same guy. Well except for the fact that he created the Justice League.

@Vandy Yeah, Lex spends million/billions/gazillions (delete where necessary) scouring the globe for superheroes and uncovers ice cube Captain America and LexCorp are the first to the site where Mjolnir crashes to Earth once Thor is exiled.

Awesome, thanks! I'll incorporate that into my sheet.

Oh and, BTW @Vandy. I'm fighting you for Cap. ;)
Gotta say, you are one of the people I really don't want to compete against because you always seem to write quality stuff. I welcome the challenge! *tries to hide worried expression*
So since I plan on making a Captain America sheet I want to ask did (or could) Lex have anything to do with finding good ole Steve and waking him up? @Morden Man
Just what I have so far. Should be done soon but I want to give everyone and idea of what I've got.

I'm just explaining the story I had in mind. This whole game came out of a One Universe idea I had about a more embattled Superman working in a world with a JLA financed by Lex Luthor and then I thought, "Why not throw it open to everybody else?" seeing as there's a dearth of comic book games on here.

I think I've said several times that ultimately the player is sovereign over their character and their place in the world once they've been accepted. I stand by that. I just wanted to give you a bit of context, that's all.

That's fine, I'll keep it. I can work with it without a doubt. I'm currently imagining a battle in which Lex shoots Supes in the face with Kryptonite and yelling "no one refuses Lex Luthor you alien trash!" We're cool, I can deal.
<Snipped quote by Vandy>

Yes, and Superman's invitation into the Justice League was years ago. Lex creates the Justice League because he wants to control Superman. When Clark says no, Lex spends millions unearthing superheroes of his own, finding and unthawing Captain America, tracking down Mjolnir that had crashed to Earth, all to spite him by creating the greatest superhero team on Earth. The reason the Justice League even exists in this universe was so that Lex could have Clark under his thumb and when Clark refused Lex made sure it was even bigger and more beloved than Superman - in the current climate at least.

Trust me, I've thought this through.

Alright, alright *throws hands up* if you say so, you're the boss. I will say though I don't think that's such a big deal to change if I want to play the character.

P.S. Not trying to undermine your authority or anything, really you are the boss I don't want to cause any trouble.
