"Shit, shit, shit."
What a way to start the morning, being chased by a fucking 12 year old with a knife, Charlie was so compromised with the situation. He couldn't turn around and kill the kid, because, he was, well, a kid, and killing kids was wrong.
He couldn't just turn a corner because the kid would just follow him.
He couldn't try and reason with him cause who knew if the kid would listen.
And he couldn't find a tree and climb it because hell, he didn't know if the kid chasing him could climb trees as well, and also his fear of heights was in the way.
Goddammit this was not a good morning.
All Charlie had done was sleep under a families porch because he didn't have anywhere to go for the night, it seemed like a good idea at the time, he had done it before; spending the night under someones stairs, and never had this happened before. It wasn't like he had stolen, hadn't killed the family pet, hadn't done any serious shit, but the parents of this 12 year old had sent the kid after him anyway as he fled, guess trespassing was a fucking serious offense to this family.
But wow he needed to loose this kid.
It took quite a long time before the kid realized he should call the guards, the guards could help him catch Charlie and lock him up, or worse, and a sure fire way the guards would help him catch Charlie?
"Guards, quick! That mage was trying to steal from me!" The boy shouted, falling behind as three guards started chasing Charlie.
Fucking perfect.
After running for as long as Charlie could take the guards caught him, seizing him by his arms and holding him back.
Okay, Charlie didn't like to admit he had a way with words, when asked he would say, "me? I don't have a silver tongue, I have a bronze tongue, at best." But, the truth was, what he lacked in 'physical skills', he made up with his way with words.
"W-What is going on here, unhand me." Charlie demanded, his underdeveloped voice squeaking a little as most pubescent male's do.
"I don't think so girl." The guard holding him replied as the other two stood in front of him.
Charlie wasn't really insulted by this misgendering, Charlie was neither male nor female in his own eyes, maybe it had something to do with the fact that he couldn't remember the last 15 years of his life, but, he felt neither male nor female, in any particular way.
"Girl? I'm not a girl." Charlie pipped, although he didn't mind the misgendering, he though't he could work with it.
"Boy?" The guard corrected.
"No, try again."
"Then what the hell are you, you can only be a boy or a girl..."
"No, I'm insulted is what I am." He said with a small smile.
"..."
"You've already caused me enough woe with all this confusion towards my sex, won't you let me go?" Charlie said, his voice turning upset.
"I don't think so, you've been accused as a mage, and we are not taking kindly to any mage's as of late."
"Oh, I was accused of being a mage, well sir, that is obviously solid proof that I am in fact a mage, take me away boys." He said, his voice dripping sarcasm.
"I-." The guard started, but Charlie cut him off-
"No, you know while we're at it, I accuse you of being a mage. Might as well take yourself away too, mate."
"Listen kid, I don't have time to listen to your riddles-."
Charlie grinned, pretending to be excited.
"Riddles!? What riddles, I have said no riddles as of today which is really a shame, you know, if you'd like a riddle I have some fantastic one's in my bag, here let me-."
He pulled his arm free from the guards loose grasp and reached in his bag, but, instead of pulling out a riddlebook or something of the like he pulled out a knife, quickly stabbing the guards hand.
The guard jumped back and yelped in pain, just enough distraction to slip past the other two guards, they tried to chase the young boy but as Charlie ran to town square, he got lost in the crowd, thank goodness for that.
