I'm looking for a magical girl RP of some sort. At least, that's the primary itch I'd like to scratch right now. While i like the genre in general, I'm more specifically looking for something in the same sort of style as Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. It's still probably one of my favorite series overall, I just like the action with lasers and the setting with some scifi and military elements. I'm good for just about anything, but I'm not always as keen on the whole dark, edgy subversive takes on the genre. A little darkness is fine, but it's got to be more than just dark for darkness' sake.

As far as specific plots or pairings go, I don't know if I have much cooked up, sadly. I just like cute girls doing cute things and fighting evil with the power of friendship(-powered wave-motion guns), hope, and that sort of thing. I do also really like the idea of playing a lonely dark magical girl sort who ends up redeeming herself, although I have no clue how well to actually set up or run it well.

About me, I'm he sort who usually writes a few paragraphs a post, but I can do more. I'm honestly used to mostly tabletop RPGs or chat based RP, so I don't usually go for really big long posts with a lot happening on them. I try my best to be consistent with posting, although I'm only human, so I do sometimes forget, or end up distracted for a while. And, well, I might be actually busy, too. I'm a grad student, so I have responsibilities there, including teaching, grading, and writing a dissertation. I'm not too picky on how a roleplay is set up, could be here on the forum, could be on discord or similar, whatever works.

When it comes to adult content, I don't usually seek out opportunities to write that kind of stuff, but I'm not opposed to it either. Obviously, anything of that nature should be discussed in advance so we're all on the same page. Given the magical girl genre, the typical pairing expectation is FxF, but that's about all I can say, there.

Runa gets up, immediately all bubbly at the suggestion of karaoke. "I'm game for letting someone meet her heroes. And hope everyone's ready for my horrible singing voice.

This is the sort of thing she missed with the big boom in importance. The hanging around and just doing stuff thing. Sure, most of the Five were a bit too old to really be her peers, but it was still fun and probably the closest to proper family she truly had. Gone were the times of getting kicked out of all you can eat restaurants for eating too much.

And hey, they had a day to prepare. She'd just need to throw some chances of clothes in a suitcase. "It's been way too long since we all had dinner together. Anyone else thinking like, divey, kitschy diner?"

"Kind of a shame we don't really have a magic expert on the team," Runa commented on the general state of things. Seemed like at least a couple of their current docket would really be helped by someone who knew their way around the supernatural side of the world. Tian and Kyouko were probably the closest they had, and neither of them were exactly versed in how magic worked, even if they had some connection or another to how the arcane worked.

The whole Musicians of Bremen thing was news to her and got her attention. Anything that had to do with her own origins would. "I know it's a bit silly, but I can't help but feel a sense of responsibility for this one," Runa said, taping the relevant file. "That sort of thing's pretty nasty, and I'm probably best suited to dealing with it." Of course, she could probably do that on her own, if she felt like it.

London sounded pretty straightforward, but if the regular law enforcement wasn't enough to get this guy, it'd be up to someone else. "What kind of methods are we talking about in these thefts," she asked. "Seems kind of small for us to get involved, but there's obviously more going on there. All I can see for us intervening is trying to catch the thief in the act, though. I'm certainly not too good in an investigation aside from gathering some clues or tracking someone." Given that she could be something of a walking molecular and genetics analysis lab, Runa might be selling herself short, but she's not the kind to play detective well.

"Russian winter's just cold." Meaning Runa might bother to zip up her jacket. "Probably lot of snow, too. Still, an area that big just disappearing's pretty wild. Like, Tunguska event level wild." Why was it Russia where this kinda stuff seemed to happen? "Definitely not much to go on for that one, but I guess the obvious is just walk in and see what happens. Anyone try sending in a drone or something with a camera?"
"I'd say that's enough. I'm admittedly not the best at investigation, but I have a few useful tricks in that regard." She did tend to prefer a direct approach, but if they didn't know what they were up against, Homura would do her best to keep an eye out for anything unusual.

"Just don't go zoning out or playing on your phone so I have to point everything out, again," her sword admonished her.

"Oh come on, it was just the one time! It was a limited event, too. It's not like I'm going to ditch everything else just because I should spend some AP." Homura looked at everyone and quickly went from indignant to flustered, fiddling with her glasses "Ah, uh, really, You can count on me. Though I can't really see spirits without Mizuki, so she'll be helping out anyway." She opts to finish her drink rather than make any more of a scene.

Runa did her best with the sudden surge of popularity the Final Five enjoyed. Generally speaking, this involved spending a lot of time rehearsing for interviews with Iphie or some of the Five's other support staff. It's almost like they didn't quite trust her on her own. Still, for someone who just wanted to be a normal teenager at least some of the time, it was that much more extra pressure.

She was nothing if not adaptable, though, and at least had the sense to make her official public appearances in an armored form or with a mask of some sort obscuring her face. She could probably go much further to conceal her identity, though if everyone knows she's some sort of shapeshifter, who's going to guess that she actually looks like herself? She was pretty sure her friends at school hadn't caught on yet, although talking about herself and the rest of the Final Five as if she didn't know them was probably even worse than the big TV appearances and similar. At least she hadn't seen any licensed products based on anyone. Yet.

She also had resisted the urge to invite her friends over to hang out at their new base of operations. And that, too, was really tempting. Or a big party. They had so much room in the new place, it'd be great. She was beginning to think Mason was psychic, though ,since every time she even thought about that sort of thing, he was around to give her a sternly disapproving look and stave things off for another week or two. Maybe if Sarah decided she really, really needed to meet her personal hero, or something.

The meeting was late enough that Runa wasn't the typical early morning teenage zombie. Not that it stopped her from consuming a truly alarming amount of breakfast at the table. Already late for school, might as well live it up before she got in trouble for showing up after half the day had gone by or something. By the time the dossiers had been handed out, she had finished her third plate of pancakes and bacon.

"I kinda feel like some of these support guys won't be able to help me directly too much, you know? Like, I just grow whatever I need most of the time. So unless they can find a way to make an outfit that won't get torn whenever I do my stuff, not sure what i could really use. And I never get sick as it is." She shrugs. Some of the Five's current science team's got plenty of research on her already, hopefully the new doctor wouldn't want even more.

"What kind of leads we got, though? Anything cool?" She eagerly pawed through those particular dossiers when they came her way. Got to figure out the best option so she can lobby everyone else for it in case they're missing her unique sense of adventure. Maybe there's something with more space monsters, or another trip into orbit.
Honoka

"We should probably go see about those internships," Honoka announced to anyone still hanging around. "Don't want to end up missing out on a great opportunity." Several had already left, but she should definitely lead by example for anyone dragging their feet. She couldn't lead the charge, but she could at least give that little bit of extra encouragement.

It would help if she knew exactly where she'd go, though. Unlike some of her classmates, she didn't have a really clear idea of where she'd fit in. No family connections to lean on or elemental quirks that would mesh well with some of the more notable hero agencies. What she still needed was some good training to better use her quirk in a proper fight. She had a pretty good handle on what she could do, and finally had a decent control over how much she altered inertia. Still, her mediocre showing at the sports fest last year wasn't something Honoka wanted to repeat.

As she looked around, she noticed several of the biggest heroes in Japan. Not intimidating at all, nope. She was surprised the number 5 hero wasn't bus beating away a legion of fans with a stick. Made it easier to introduce herself, at least. "I'm Honoka Oda," she said, straightforward and without at hint of nervousness. "I'd like to intern with your agency, if I may." Any luck, and she wouldn't come off as some fangirl angling for a chance to get close to her personal hero.
Honoka

While the content of the broadcast was hardly good news, Honoka couldn't really deny that it was important enough to watch. In times like these, it payed to be informed, and the occasional break in instruction to keep up with the world weren't going to hurt, even if it would be nice to see a little good news for a change.

Fortunately for her, plenty of others had already given Sasuke crap for his usual gift with words, so she didn't need to bother. But there were other things to bring up. Mostly, in trying to smooth everything over, because there was no need to fan the flames of rivalry further. "I'm just going to side with everyone saying we should be sticking together. I know nobody's here to pick a fight, but now isn't the time for that sort of thing. We've got internships to worry about, and everything going on in the rest of the world. I'd hope Eirei, at least, can continue to be something of our refuge, as its students, away from that 'real world' stuff."

"As for what you're willing to sacrifice, just remember that you've still got to sleep at night." What else was there to even address? Student council? Not like she really wanted further responsibility. Though maybe that made her the right person for the job again? Nobody who wants more power should really have it given to them anyway.

"Not like I've got a clue what I'll end up doing either," Honoka replied to Anna's question, whether it was directed to her or not. "I'm not even sure who-all's showing up. But it's more important to think about the kind of agency overall, I think. Doesn't matter if you're going with compatible powers or not, so much as a place where you feel like you can learn something important. So, like, think of the sort of hero you want to be, or the sort of skills you want to focus on."
Honoka's definitely the sort to try and get along with everyone, so she probably won't work for a rival if one's expecting someone more abrasive. Unless, like, it's that whole one-sided rivalry where one person is all passionate about beating someone else and that someone else is like "why are you always like this?"

And following the others, might as well try to elaborate or condense on things for Honoka because it's fun.

  • Since she's the sort of person to prefer strategy or planning, she's also likely going to have trouble when things go awry or there's no time to prepare.
  • Honoka's fairly energetic, and does a lot of physical training for acrobatics, running, maybe parkour, that sort of thing.
  • She likes baseball. If she's had the opportunity to play while using her quirk at Eirei, she's probably enjoyed it wholeheartedly, but she'd probably still play without it.
  • Academically, I'm not sure where she'd fall. She's the sort to work hard, but I'm not sure she'd be top of the class or anything.
  • She is sort of a jack of all trades in terms of things she knows. A little first aid, a bit about computers and technology, that sort of thing.
  • Presumed straight until proven otherwise.
  • The sort of person who thinks if you're powerful, you should use it for the right reasons.
  • While her quirk can be powerful it's also tricky to use in some situations, so she'd be happy to talk with people who have similar experiences.
  • Ditto for anyone whose quirks are downright dangerous or caused problems for them or others.
While relationships are the sort of thing I don't always think about, this RP does seem like the sort where establishing how the characters already know each other would be important. They're already classmates, and not complete strangers, and all.

I do think Honoka would be quite impressed by Kaguya's quirk, because it's really cool just by default. And she's the sort to get excited about that sort of thing. I'm not sure how much of a mecha fan Honoka is, but I definitely get the references and that's pretty fun, too.
