Biography/PersonalityElroy is known throughout Hogwarts for being one who embodies the typical values expected of a student of Gryffindor. Specifically, he is known for his gentleman-like mannerisms, his patience and his grandfatherly, welcoming demeanour. Students and teachers alike throughout the school can often be found seeking his counsel, for he has become an approachable and naturally authoritative figure during his twenty years at the school. Elroy is never one for reckless, thoughtless action and would far rather review and discuss any decisions he is involved in. While some simply say he wants to ensure the best outcome, others see this as proof of his indecisive, and inneficient nature.
He is particularly vain. Often seen sporting the latest fashion trends, he is also a two-time winner of the Witch Weeklys Most Charming Smile Award.
He is a second-class member of the Order of Merlin for his actions during the Battle of Hogwarts, namely saving five students from almost certain death.
His boggart is a Banshee.
His patronus is an eagle.
The Goldcrumb family is a new, albeit fastly growing, wizarding family. Many in the Goldcrumb household pursue political careers within the Ministry of Magic and naturally the same was expected of Elroy. Having passed his OWLS and attained highly in his NEWTS, showing a particularl proficiency for the art of transfiguration, he initially intended to apply for a position with the Aurors, though he never quite got around to this. If asked why, he is known to simply reply, 'life got in the way.' Instead of chasing after the career, he simply took 'a few years off', relaxing and taking various small-jobs in the wizarding world.
Never particularly going out of his way to achieve highly, Elroy continued without purpose from past-time to past-time for several years, albeit the wizarding war soon engulfed the entirety of the wizarding society, with Elroy being no exception. With every newspaper having daily stories concerning the dark wizards, Elroy was soon enthralled by the war. Naturally, when Hogwarts found itself under attack, Elroy was quick to respond alongside other Hogsmede residents. Elroy has never gone into much detail about his participation in the battle, often avoiding the subject, albeit it is known that he went out of his way to save the lives of several students, earning him recognition from the Order of Merlin, whom made him a Second-Class member.
Shortly after the battle, with McGonagall elevated to the post of Headmistresses, the school found itself in need of a transfiguration professor. Having always favoured the subject, and having achieved highly in his NEWTS and OWLs, Elroy applied for the post and was accepted into the staff of Hogwarts. He was also selected to be the new Head of House Gryffindor after two years of service to the school.
