You bring up an interesting point. For me, I prefer opening posts that are medium length or even on the short side. As long as the first setting is described well enough, and there is enough to give the RP general direction, that's good enough for me. If there is too much in the first post, I may feel overwhelmed. In my first posts, I usually do maybe four paragraphs? I'm not sure.

Raita opened his eyes. "Hey, newbies! Get up and get ready. The Heartless could be here at any moment." Still waking up, the dark haired male known as Raita sat up. Sitting on the ground or floor, he looked around at the unfamiliar area. There were others nearby. People he didn't know. Where was he? What was going on? Briefly he remembered something about finding a weapon of some sort. The weapon had seemed like it was almost part of who he was. But he couldn't remember it very clearly. The world around him was moving, something important was going on, but he was still trying to wake up completely. As he eventually began to stand, he noted the strange shadow forms. _What's going on...?_ A mysterious man had appeared and said some words, before leaving. Soon everyone else nearby began to defend themselves from the strange shadow forms. "Heartless" Was that what they were called? Looking around and standing, Raito watched the battles going on nearby and eventually stared at a single Heartless in the distance. Raito and the Heartless exchanged a long, cold stare. Raito swallowed some saliva, sweat forming on the side of his face. The two stared at each other, and Raito blinked, unsure what to do. _Is this my enemy? Maybe this is a misunderstanding._ He looked around at the others nearby who were fighting off the Heartless that were attacking them. He then looked at the same Heartless across the distance - but it wasn't there. Without a weapon and confused and afraid, Raito stumbled back a step, before eventually seeing the shadow form jumping at him in a high tackle from above. Surprised by the creature jumping towards him, Raito could only stare in surprise and fear.

 Name: Raita / Raito (Both names are used, you can call him by either one) Gender: Male Personality: Mild-mannered and coolheaded, Raito isn't the most outspoken person. Upon discovering a cause or purpose, he is likely to dedicate himself to whatever his goals may be. Even so, he doesn't outwardly show much excitement about many things. Straightforward and perseverant, yet still polite and capable of emotion. Often seen as honest and reliable. Memories: _"Where am I... Why am I here...? What is this....? Whatever this is, I'll take it with me. I'll use this to accomplish my goals. Maybe someday I will find my purpose."_ Weapon: Raita's weapon is something like a wide sword that equips to his arm. The weapon is wide and broad, protecting his forearm completely, but doesn't have much reach. The entire weapon is made of a steel-like material (keeping in mind that it does not have a hilt or handle, as it is equipped directly onto his arm).
