Haha right on! I won't be making missions exclusively either. Players can come up with their own scenarios that may be character driven or just plain fun. Since we're going into uncharted territory there's more freedom for RPers to create what they like. The overall goal is to expand foreign relations, gather resources, and whatever else that would be beneficial for our galactic community. It won't just be fluff either.
Not sure how I'm going to set it up, but every mission will have immediate consequences that will be felt by everyone. Say my Gordallian excavator, Lugobi, found a rare mineral and sent it to the probe transfer to be processed back in federation territory. Oh what? It turned out to actually be scrap ore that contained a bacterial contaminant of an ancient parasite race that is now wreaking havoc in the 3rd quadrant of our federation space!?
There goes the Gordallian reputation in the community, Lugobi's approval rating, and overall morale on the ship. Damn it Lugobi!!!
If we get more people interested, I'll start flushing out the details in an ooc.

Hello you lovely blokes. I'm new to this site and I'm itching to get an RP going with said theme. So how about it you exploronauts? Who's up for it?
...Oh, yeah... I should fill you in on the details...
My idea is to have it entirely story driven with character depth and development. We're not space marines looking to slaughter bugs with unlimited ammo and sylvester stalllone curled lips, we're a joint intergalactic space faring group exploring uncharted clusters in our galaxy.
That's right.
The ongoing warfare in our galaxy has finally seized; it's all about peace and love in our star sectors man. W-wait. You didn't know? Oh man, the major space federations signed a peace treaty over 50 years ago! It's all about doing your part in the galactic community and expanding new horizons. So the joint committee of the Galaxy is pooling together resources to launch the first multi-species crew of exploronauts to check out the outer rim. Chart new worlds. Find new resources. Help out those backwater colonies that are still stuck in the stone age, and possibly settle major disputes planetside.
I'm looking for RPers that have an alien character in mind that is near and dear to them. Not some random mary sue put together, but a character you put some actual thought into because the species of your alien, one way or another, will have some sort of history (good or bad) with everyone else. I plan to accomplish this by having you fill out a CS (leaving out the alien origins part) and if I accept you, you can then start collaborating with other players to flesh out all of that good stuff.

Personality: Von is a soft-spoken man. His macabre humor and expressionless demeanor can be off-putting in social settings, but once engaged in a conversation, people will quickly find that he is a down-to-earth and witty individual. Emotions do not cloud his judgment, nor do they affect his overall performance on the battlefield. He is a silent stoic that does not wane under pressure, nor does he pity the enemy invaders killed by his own hands.
Backstory: Grado was in the frontlines of the global military effort when the Mythics first invaded Annahme. Stationed in the Eastern territories as a special forces aerial transport pilot, he experienced the "Nightingale Massacre", where a Mythic necromancer mutilated almost every living being in one of the more densely populated metropolises in the country. He successfully evacuated over 60 citizens before the city was completely overrun by the terrors that still haunt him to this day.

-Tactical Knife– Made from a rare, durable steel.

-Cloaking Device– State-of-the-art light refracting technology perfect for scouting behind enemy lines undetected, and stealthily engaging enemy targets.
-Kinetic Shielding– A much needed addition to the Titan Tactical's vulnerable defenses.
-Helmet Shielding– Protects the pilot from possible telepathy/illusion spells.

Well, as you may have guessed... I am a newborn newbian to this majestic unicorn guild kingdom thingy place. I kind of went off and started browsing for RPs without properly introducing myself. My name is Whiskey Business but you can call me WB, because you RPers have more important things to type, and a long name like mine will only get in the way!!!
RPs I like:
I recently got into Lovecraft (just started playing a board game called Arkham Horror that revolves around Lovecraft. It is awesome. Long. Incredibly Brutal. And a true friendship destroyer), so horror/sci-fi type RPs along that spectrum would be tasty.
I also like space exploration, underwater excavation, journey to the center of the earth type adventures, where team-based cooperation and participation/dialogue/character development is key. So if you're making anything like that, or a part of an RP that fits any of those descriptions, please let me know!
If not...then I might just make my own to sate my RP appetite!!!
