I'm interested in this.

Awesome! I'm happy to have more join in.

I don't plan on putting a limit on how many people can join, so I'll just leave this roleplay open until it actually gets started, at which point it'll be closed to anyone new.

Also, I'm not really sure how creating an OOC thread works here. I see them in a tab at the top of an In-Character thread, but I don't understand how they're created. Anyone care to enlighten me?
If it's alright with you (and anyone else that might be interested in this), I think we could approach this one of a few different ways. We could have either a wolf form or a werewolf form, but not both. Or, alternatively, there could be two types of werewolf forms - an actual were-wolf and a full wolf. Either could be just as powerful, but the two could serve different purposes. Obviously, if one were to have four legs, they'd be much more proficient runners, so traveling in wolf form would be easiest. Werewolf form would be more handy in combat on in situations where having hands and arms would be beneficial. Or, lastly, there could just be different werewolf species (which I'm probably most partial to), so that some people who are werewolves turn into a part man, part wolf, and others just became a massive wolf. What is your opinion?

I hadn't even thought about other lycanthropes, like big cats and other predators. I think that could be neat, but just to keep it simple, we should just stick to wolves, though that's just my opinion. Say differently though if you feel otherwise!

As for the werewolf questions, I really still favor this whole concept that I wrote up awhile back ago:

The initial lycan was created when a rabid lone wolf, driven mad by its disease and starvation, attacked a villager in northern Europe during a full moon. The man collapsed, nearly having been killed by the mauling, but when he awoke, he was no longer himself, in body or in mind. He had become part man, part wolf, operating only on instinct and a powerful desire to hunt. Whenever he attacked a person and left them alive, they too would become infected with the condition, and so the trend would carry on.

Newly created lycans are only able to transform under a full moon, and they lose all their rational thoughts and their human mind and become a pure wolf. They are not in any form of control. As lycans age however, they eventually learn to adapt and adjust to their transformations. Around the time they become ‘adults,’ they are able to fully control when and where they transform, and they also have some degree of control over themselves, if not full control. Aged lycans never lose their human minds when under transformation and can even change into their wolf forms much more quickly and painlessly.

They are much more powerful than humans, but lycans are strong only when they are transformed. Additionally, lycans are deathly allergic to silver. Ingesting silver or having silver penetrate the body in any way will cause a lycan, whether transformed or not, to eventually die if the silver is not removed in time. Simply touching silver can cause serious rashes.

Lycans are immortal, meaning they cannot age or die of old age, but they still can be killed by selective means. Silver, as mentioned, is one way of killing a lycan. Beheading is another, as is the complete dismemberment of limbs and body parts. Religious artifacts hold no power over lycans, but the cry of a fellow lycan will beckon other lycans, whether they belong to the same pack or not. Being social creatures, lycans depend and rely heavily on each other, and it is in their instincts to protect one another. Therefore, it isn't at all uncommon for men to have captured and wounded a lycan and left it chained and in agony as bait to lure in more of its kind to slay.

There are 4 different ages of a lycan: Adolescent, Youth, Adult, and Ancient. An Adolescent refers to a newly transformed human who has no control over their monthly transformations. A Youth is typically one who has gained some control over their transformations and may, at times, be able to transform upon will but who is not very powerful yet. An Adult is typically considered to be the most common type of lycan. It is someone who has been a lycan long enough to have complete control over their transformations and can also transform upon will. They are powerful creatures not to be messed with. Ancients are almost unheard of creatures, as they are the oldest living lycans whose abilities far surpass any other. They are usually the leaders of powerful packs and are highly respected. Ancient lycans usually evolve to appear much different than their original human selves. In their human forms, their eyes may look more like wolf eyes, if they’re male, they may grow more hair, their ears may grow pointier, and their nails become hard and tend to grow faster to resemble claws. In their wolf forms, other variations can be seen. They are much larger and far more muscular than they appeared as an Adolescent wolf.

The way I imagined it, werewolves were always very widely known about and accepted as part of the real world in our history (or at least for the purpose of this RP), and so when this story would take place, they wouldn't be mythical beings. It's only because of their population decline at this time that they became legend. Therefore, hunters don't need to necessarily be secret or underground.

Hunters can have knives, cutlasses, and blades of any sort, along with (flintlock or percussion single shot) pistols, (smokeless powder) revolvers, muskets, (black powder) rifles, and any other such weaponry that was introduced in the 1800's or earlier. (We don't need to get overly specific and name an actual date this roleplay is taking place in, so literally anything introduced within the 1800's is acceptable.)

I really like your plot ideas! I think 2 and 3 are my favorites, though if I had to choose, I think 3 could be really interesting. What do you think?

I just recently started playing Diablo 3 with my boyfriend, and there's this part where a man approaches you and says that his wife has been turned and that he locked her in a dungeon with everyone else, but he can't kill her himself. So you have to go into this dungeon and slay all these zombie-like people who have been kept there. (I'm probably really messing up the story of Diablo with that explanation lol, so I apologize to anyone who's a big fan. I just started playing and wasn't overly paying attention to the plot!) Anyway, as I was playing through that, I thought about how interesting it would be if someone were keeping a bunch of people locked up in a cellar somewhere who were all young werewolves, unable to turn upon will and thus transformed each full moon. The person keeping them prisoner could either be keeping them for a hunter to come slay or because they pity the werewolves and simply don't want them outside in a world filled with hunters who would obviously slay them. That could be something we could try incorporating into this roleplay?
That's been my go-to theme in the past as well. I like to think I'm more inclined to roleplay science fiction, but I suppose most of my previous roleplays were more fantasy orientated. You're most definitely right about it not being unlike a muscle that needs to get into shape.

If you feel like doing a more casual roleplay ("casual" in the sense that it's slower paced and won't be demanding on your free time), let me know. :) I started up an Interest Check thread for a werewolf roleplay, though I'm down to start up pretty much anything with you. EDIT: Oh! I see you already found my thread! You are one step ahead of me, girl.
Hi, Thought Manifest! (Is it alright if I refer to you as Kathryn here? Feel free to call me Jeanette or even Fate if you prefer.) I have to say, I'm so glad you're going to be joining me here!

What do you feel you'd enjoy roleplaying these days? I've been finding it hard to settle on something I'm as passtionate about as I used to be about a number of things. Perhaps I'm just spread too thinly these days on interests that I don't have one particular passion or any one genre that I feel drawn to. I think too I just need to find my creativity again.

See you around!

BIOGRAPHY
It wouldn't exactly be fair to say that anyone's experience when it comes to being turned into a werewolf is particularly easy (even when it comes to the groupies who ask for it), though it was especially traumatic in Velganos's case.

When Velganos was a young man, he met a girl in passing who he, upon seeing her, instantly was drawn to. Her name, as he discovered upon "coincidentally" running into her again, was Accalia. She was everything ever other girl was not. She had this fire about her, this passion and wildness that he had never seen before, and yet, she was completely in control of herself and her life. She was a confident self-starter with big dreams and an even bigger wallet, having come from a very well-off family. Accalia became the love of Vel's life, and he was her soul mate who helped bring her dreams of traveling and experiencing the world to reality.

The night everything changed for him happened some years later. Velganos had been out drinking with some comrades one night enjoying himself. He wound up staying out late and, as a result, ended up quite intoxicated. Luckily, he lived closeby to the pub and was able to walk (or, more accurately in his case, stumble) home.

As he was rounding a corner down a poorly-lit alleyway, he found himself face-to-face with a gigantic black wolf. The only thing he remembers from that encounter were the bright yellow eyes, like two full moons, and the way the shadow-like creature overpowered him with ease. Being drunk, Vel put up little fight, but to his surprise, he was only left with a small wound on his ankle where the wolf had grabbed him in his jaw to drag him behind a building and into some brush. When he came to and awoke some hours later, he found the wound was mostly healed already and that he felt better than ever. He felt wide awake and full of energy and strength. It was as if he had just gotten the best rest of his life. Dazed and confused, he made his way back home to a very worried Accalia who stayed up all night waiting for him. He reassured her that he was fine, but thought better of mentioning anything about a wolf or a wound that magically healed itself, attributing the entire experience to his intoxication, and instead told her he simply got a bit too drunk and passed out on his walk home, and followed it up with many apologies.

The days went by as usual, though as the weeks wore on and the closer it got to a full moon, the more and more animalistic and instinctual Velganos began to feel. He found himself craving meat and sex and anything physical. He started running in the mornings just to work off some of his excess energy. By the time the full moon did at last reveal itself, Velganos was a slave to its pull. He transformed, much against his will and to his utmost surprise, right in the middle of his and Accalia's living room that evening. As soon as the wolf took over, Velganos's mind was gone, replaced only by instinct and needs. Accalia tried to stop him from leaving their house, fearing hunters would find him, but in the process of getting in his way, Velganos attacked her, biting at her and eventually throwing her aside before he fled.

When dawn finally stripped him of his fur and returned him to human form, Velganos ran home, terrified, only to find Accalia wrapped in self-made dressings and in tears. As soon as he spotted her, he knew what he had done. Come next full moon, she would be transforming into a mindless wolf too. He had passed on his own worst nightmare to her.

Enraged and furious at both himself and the black wolf that turned him, Velganos fled, too mortified and too scared to be near Accalia, for fear of hurting her further. Their relationship was left in shambles.

Vel's form has become so severe, due to the nature of his becoming a lycan, that it has completely overtaken him, forcing a transformation upon him in his most emotionally unstable or enraged moments. He no doubt would be an Adult lycan by now, but because of his post traumatic stress, he cannot harness control over himself. He has discovered one source of inner peace, however, in the form of powerful underground drugs, known as Dog Chow on the street, whose real brand name is Temppressant. The drugs, if taken regularly once a day, help his mind remain intact whenever he undergoes a transformation and also allows him to transform upon will. Additionally, the Dog Chow allows him to remain human, even when under stress or feeling particularly angered, when he normally otherwise would transform.

On one of his excursions, Vel unknowingly stumbled upon a rogue wolf hunter, a burly man who was renowned in the area for slaying many a beast. Velganos barely managed to escape with his life, but he did get away with a souvenir in the form of a large and deep scar across his chest, which is now just another distinguishing feature of his, a war-wound he wears with shame, as he never managed to get his revenge on the hunter, whom he later found out was Albert Redd, father to Rozlin Redd.

Velganos hides behind his tough and sarcastic and seemingly indifferent exterior, but in actuality, he is a troubled being with a difficult past.
First of all, I'd like to start out with a little prelude to this, if you will. It has been a few years now since my last roleplay, namely because of a busy schedule and life events, and though life isn't exactly boring or not as adventuresome as ever, I feel I'll be able to find the time here and there to roleplay once again. I've been a hobbiest writer my entire life, and I really don't want to let that die out. So, with that said, I don't believe I will be able to post rapidly or super frequently, so if you are the type to want to be involved in a fast-paced RP, please don't read any further, lest you waist your time. On the other hand, if you are happy replying every so often but up to a higher standard (post quality-wise), then that's exactly what I'd like to accomplish here!

Hunted is a roleplay idea of mine that takes place in nineteenth century Europe. It revolves around werewolves, or lycans/lycanthropes if you prefer. (We can decide on that terminology together if you like.) Vampires, witches, and other such mythical beings aren't going to be included or a part of this story at all (though that doesn't necessarily mean that they don't exist, but rather aren't involved in any way and therefore probably not mentioned). Basically, the story will focus on the now-dying creatures we know as werewolves. Their kind rose in great and almost unaccountable numbers over the many hundreds of years, but ultimately, over the past few decades, more and more wolf hunters or just 'hunters,' as have been come to be known as, have appeared and helped diminish the werewolf population to a dwindling and frighteningly low number. Werewolves no longer are the masters of the night. Because of this great genocide in our past, werewolves today are so rare, they are considered myth.

This is the story of the last great werewolves, the fighters, the last ones standing that fought to the bitter end. Though many of these creatures are admirable in their physical strength and skills, the hunters now largely outnumber them, and many of these legendary creatures will fall in battle.

In this roleplay, you can choose to play as a hunter, a werewolf, or just an ordinary human.

This is all I have so far for this concept, but I'd love to hear if anyone's potentially interested, and perhaps we can build up more of a plot together. Thanks for your time!

Here's a few of me.

This article was just posted yesterday in regards to this:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/isis-terrorists-won-sneak-u-s-loose-mexico-border-homeland-security-officials-article-1.1935224

I currently live about 4 hours from El Paso (in Albuquerque, NM), and actually just about a month ago visited El Paso for the first time in my life. My boyfriend grew up in El Paso, and his dad and grandmother live there. Driving through El Paso and looking across the way to Juarez was really surreal for me. Having grown up in a small town in the midwest myself, I wasn't used to seeing anything even close to that. It was both sad and frightening. My boyfriend told me that when he and his friends were younger, they'd always go party in Juarez, since the drinking age is 18. I guess, back in the day, Juarez was the place to be on a Friday night. Eventually, things got worse though obviously, and now no Americans go over there that regularly. It's just so unsafe. Me, being a blonde woman who obviously would stand out, I was told I should never cross the border. And now ISIS. Scary times.
(I just wanted to say I love this idea, and I'm glad I stumbled upon it. I'm going to be stalking your RP thread now... :) )

EDIT: Actually, you know what, it's interesting to me to have just joined this message board, found this thread that was originally created 5 months ago and is now about to get started, but that there's still room for a couple more. I might as well join, if you'll have me! I'm certainly intrigued. On top of that, the words "'through the rabbit hole' strange" were used, which just seems so perfect for me! ;) I can't offer to help co-GM though unfortunately, as my schedule is fairly crazy and I can't promise I can be super active.
