Katherine stands at roughly 5’6” (168 cm). An active girl, Kat's figure is slender and somewhat toned. Her body has a pear shape as her hips are wider than her bust. She was born with naturally curly black hair, but since entering adolescence she has often straightened and high-lighted it and she normally keeps past her shoulders. Her skin is fair, her lips are pink and full.
Powers:
Mental Manipulation The power to manipulate thoughts, mindsets, and upper brain functions of others. In time Katherine may be able to do more, but as of now she can only do the following:
Psychic Shield - This ability makes Katherine resistant to any/all mental intrusion, including psychic or empathic powers, hypnosis, illusions, deception, etc.
- Persuasion - Kat can compel people by speaking, the victims are unable to disobey; the seemingly cogent commandment is far too compelling. These commands have to be somewhat simple, one sentence commands. Of course, shorter commands like "Be quiet" work just as well.
Giving her target a list of multiple things to do will not work, it must be only one command. For example, telling someone to bake a cake would work. Telling someone to bake a cake by reciting the recipe and specific instructions would not.
Kat can command her target to do almost anything, but again suicidal commands will most likely (see History below) be ignored.
It is best for her to be calm and focused when using this ability as being emotional can have a negative effect.
For example, being angry could cause Katherine's power to activate when she doesn't want it to, while being frightened can cause her mutant ability not to work at all.
Kat can only use her persuasion power on one person at a time. She must be able to speak and her target must be able to hear and understand her.
Powerful/advanced level psychics may be able to resist her commands.

Personality:
Once Katherine was a very outgoing girl. From the time she could walk Kat loved to socialize and have fun with others. In high school she was at the top of the social pyramid by junior year. Some might have even described her as the Alpha Bitch.
With the death of her mother things changed. For a while Katherine didn't want to talk at all for fear of hurting someone else. But, with time and Latour's help she has slowly returned to her old self, at least outwardly, as she tries to word her sentences more carefully.

Katherine was born into an upper middle class family in the suburbs of Roanoke, Virginia. She wanted for nothing in her early childhood as her parents and grandparents spoiled her quite a bit with money, clothing and lots and lots of toys. In 2008, the Winchester family took a bit of a hit when both of Katherine's parents lost their jobs within a few months of one another. Luckily in early 2009 her father got a job offer from an old friend, and the family packed up and moved to New York.
She was a bit of a late bloomer as far as mutants go because Kat's ability didn't seem to manifest until she was seventeen. It was subtle at first. Hardly noticeable even. But, as the school year went on the girl became very conscious of the fact that people would do as she told them. Of course, in the beginning it didn't always work. But, with some practice it began to improve. Already popular in high school, Kat's mutant ability helped to raise her to alpha status in a relatively short period of time.
Things would turn drastically the following summer while on vacation with her family. Spending three weeks back in their home state of Virginia, the family decided to go camping up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Katherine and her mother had been arguing since the beginning of the camping trip. One day the fight became so heated that Katherine in anger told her mother, "Go take a flying leap!"
And, that's exactly what her mother did.

Katherine's grandparents (on her mother's side) immigrated to the United States from Bulgaria. Kat has done her best to learn this language and is fairly fluent in Bulgarian. She has also had four years of high school French.
She exercises on a regular basis. Running, yoga and swimming are apart of her normal routine. In high school she was a cheerleader. Kat is very flexible.

The first mutant of whom she was aware that Katherine ever had contact with, Professor Latour came to a few days after her mother's death. Though she still mourns for her mother and carries a lot of guilt, thanks to Latour's help (and other members of the school staff) Kat has seemingly become more comfortable in her skin.
