Scarlett - Motel - Katie/Tyler/Liam/Strangers

For the first time in weeks, maybe months, Scarlett had actually had a restful night. No dreams, really, just sleep. The only reason she had woken up was because Liam had gotten up before her and tripped. Did he trip? There was a loud thump. Knowing him, he probably did. She had sat on their make shift bed, staring out into space as the boy got ready.

"Have fun and be safe Leeyum!" She grinned as she turned to see him heading to the door. She always liked the name Liam. It was her friends name in high school and she'd always enunciate the word to annoy him. She stood up after he left the room and made her way to the bathroom that they had in the room. She cleaned herself up a bit until she heard a knock on the door, followed by a sing song voice from a little girl. Scarlett grinned and practically skipped to the door, opening it slowly before peeking through the small opening. "Who is it?" She smiled as she answered it in the same sing-song voice.

Scarlett let Katie in after she answered and left the door open as both of them walked over to the bed. "So I was wondering, maybe we could do a fish tail braid today?" Scarlett sat down and waited for Katie to sit before running her hand through the little girl's long hair and beginning to comb through it with the pink comb she had already sat down. "I think your dad will like it. It keeps the hair out of your face, so he can see your pretty eyes. And it isn't tight, so you won't get bothered by it." The young woman heard Katie out as she combed her hair. She would take the little girls opinions into consideration.

She had barely begun to weave the first strand of hair, while telling Katie a story about when she pranked Sam in Disney World, when she heard a strange yell. "What was that?" Scarlett turned towards the door and listened intently, cringing at the sound of sudden loud thumps, as if someone had fallen down the stairs. Scarlett stopped immediately and turned to Katie, putting a finger to her lips and making the Shhh sound. She gestured for Katie to stay put and walked quickly out of the door and towards the stairs. The voice sounded like Tyler's but at the same time it didn't. The octave was a bit higher and Tyler didn't shout or yell like that, did he?

Scarlett stopped at the top of the stairs, eyes wide and blood drained from her face as she saw Tyler at the foot of the stairs with a man standing over him. She was frozen in fear and shock as she watched the men drag him a bit ways from the stairs and more showed up. "Tyler...." Her voice was a quiet whisper as she tried to register what was going on. Unfortunately there wouldn't be much time for that. One of the men had looked up and made eye contact with her, sending Scarlett into panic mode as she quickly ran through a million thoughts. The main one being Tyler's voice shouting Katie's name. With a quick blink, Scarlett was already sprinting back towards the room before the men had even registered that she was up there.

With adrenaline coursing through her, Scarlett shut the door behind her and ran to Katie, picking her up and placing her in the corner of the room. There was no way out and they were on the second story. They wouldn't be able to jump. Scarlett wanted to cry but she would be strong for both herself and the child. "Katie, baby, I need you to listen and listen well. There are some men downstairs. Bad men. They have your dad and I think they might have Liam. There's no way out so I'm going to keep them off of you. Here." Scarlett pulled out a small pocket knife from her boot and placed it in Katie's hands. "Only for emergencies. We can't do anything too bad because they might hurt your dad. Please Katie. Let me handle this. Also, stay with me. At all times. I won't let them hurt you." The sound of footsteps broke her minute of silence with Katie, driving Scarlett to hug the little girl tightly and give her head a kiss before standing up and standing protectively in front of her. It didn't take the men long to find them. They had split up, probably, since after they had spotted them one of them shouted to the others and two more walked in. There was a total of four of them in the room and they bee lined straight to the Katie and herself. "Don't touch her. She stays with me." The men ignored Scarlett's warning, one of them grabbing her by the arm and pulling her harshly. Scarlett turned red and she immediately reached for the hand that was on her arm, grabbing it and forcing her thumb to slide in between and to his palm. She pressed down hard and reached up with her other hand, place the other thumb on the same spot and pressing with it as well.

'Thank god for self defense classes.'

Once her hands were placed fairly well on his hand, Scarlett twisted it backwards, earning herself a satisfactory yelp from the grown man. She kept going though, using the momentum to get him off of his feet and flip him so that he'd land on the floor on his back. Scarlett smirked and walked back again, keeping Katie close to her and to the wall. "I said, she stays with me" Scarlett practically growled at the other guy as she glared at him, her hand on her blade.

"Fine." Was all the bearded man said, taking out his own blade and gestured for them to move away from the wall. Scarlett kept her eyes on them but turned quickly to grab Katie and pick her up, huffing quietly as she lifted the little girl. The men had little patience and before Scarlett could grab anything else, they were already barking orders to get out of the room. Although livid, Scarlett complied and made her way out and down the stairs to where Liam and George were now with Tyler. She set down Katie gently and knelt down to check Tyler before looking up at the men holding them there. "What did you do to him?!" She turned back and held his face in her hands, trying to get him to wake up. "Fucking cunts" she muttered under her breath as she looked up from Tyler to Liam. He wasn't harmed but the poor boy looked scared half to death. Scarlett reached out to him with her arms to hug him close but didn't move from Tyler and Katie's side. There were too many of them for her to try anything and she had to think of the kids and what would be the best move for them. At the moment, it was to see what the men wanted and to make sure Tyler would be fine.

Samantha - Apartment - Tina & friends/Abram/Turisa

Since the small group had ran into Tina and her companions, Samantha had felt something weird. Kind of like a nagging voice in the back of her head, but the moment that they mentioned Scarlett, everything else on her mind had completely become irrelevant and her undivided attention was on the an named Caleb, who seemed to be the only one willing to give up any details on Scarlett.

They found themselves in the apartment where Tina and her friends kept sheltered. It wasn't much but they seemed to be doing well off. "She's here?" She paid little attention to what Tina had said. Her mind was set on finding her sister and nothing more. "She's in Baton Rouge..." That was about all Samantha had said since they had gotten to the apartment. Tears had escaped her eyes here and there but it wasn't enough to draw attention. They were more from happiness than anything else. Scarlett was alive and she was with a group, which meant she was doing well.

"Wait... Why did they leave?" Finally, Sam broke out of her daze. The young woman glanced up from the hair in her face and looked at Tina and Caleb. She was suddenly on edge. 'Why would they leave the safety of this group.... The thugs won't bother them. That's stupid. "Do you know where they went? I've got to go find her. I don't care if I go alone...." By now, Samantha was blabbering. She was blabbering every thought that came to her mind in no specific order, "Why did you want it to work out? What didn't work out? What do you trade with this Tremblay person?" It was an all out interrogation now. Maybe staying in her dazed and shocked state was better than this. Her voice was getting louder and the octaves were getting higher. "I need to go find her." Her voice trailed off as she turned to look at Abram, who by now probably thought she was crazy or getting there. "Abe.... I have to go find her. Maybe she's still here! You can stay here if you want but I'm not going to miss out on an opportunity like this."

Aubrey agreed to meet them at a certain point, but in the mayhem and fear that the others were causing, she got lost and ended up driving to Louisiana with a group of people making their way in a caravan of vehicles.

Scarlett - Motel - Liam/Katie

Scarlett looked at the boy, worry etching her every feature. When the young boy finally stopped and seemed to understand, Scarlett relaxed a little and smiled at him. His question did take her off guard though, not really expecting him to need or want any explanation of what he just had witnessed. "Oh... uh... No... No we're not. Um... Yeah no." Scarlett was at a loss for her and she ended up laughing at the whole mess. "Just don't tell. Or else I'll pour cold water over you while you're asleep." Scarlett grinned at the boy and ruffled his hair as she stood up. "Come on. I got some stuff for you and Katie." Gesturing for him to follow her, the young woman made her way out of the room and into the hallway.

After a few knocks on the door, Scarlett opened it and saw that Katie was on the floor playing with her kitten while George was on the bed looking outside, with Tyler no where in sight. "What a babysitter.." Scarlett muttered as she entered the room. "Hey Katie bug. I've got a couple of things here." Scarlett walked over and stopped a couple of feet away from Katie, sitting down on the floor in her criss-cross applesauce style that she always told her own gymnastic students to sit in. "Look." Scarlett opened her backpack and took out a couple of shirts. "I thought you guys would like something clean to wear. I've got long sleeved and normal sleeved." She sat the shirts down, two of Katie's size and two in roughly Liam's size. "I also got this for you... Think fast!" Scarlett tossed the new toothbrush to Liam and then went on to take out a princess toothbrush out for Katie. "And this one for you.... I didn't really know what to take or what to get. Oh and this!" Scarlett was exited to show Katie what she had gotten. Maybe it was just a girl thing? "So you can brush your hair and put it up or braid it. Something a girl always needs." She placed the box of hair ties and pink comb on Katie's shirts, feeling a bit nervous of how the little might feel or react. "I thought we might have a little girl to girl moment and maybe I could braid your hair? I always braid Samantha's hair. She usually puts mine in spikes." She sat looking at the kids expectantly. All Scarlett wanted was their approval, that way she could offer them the feeling of being safe and comfortable. It was the least she could do.
Scarlett - Motel - Tyler/Liam

Scarlett had enjoyed the moment while it lasted. Other than wrapping her arms around Tyler's neck, she made no other movements. Once they stopped, she still held on, not opening her eyes as she tried to wrap her mind about what exactly had just happened. If she let go of him, she would have probably collapsed onto the floor, so she merely let her arms around him and rested her forehead on his, trying to steady her breathing.

A million emotions ran through her as she gathered her thoughts; confusion, happiness, excitement, lust, and maybe a bit of regret? What exactly had she just done. It didn't matter. The sudden abrupt sound of laughter made Scarlett jump and quickly back away a few steps from Tyler.

"Liam" was all the young woman could mutter as she watched the boy laugh himself to tears, her mouth gaping open as she glanced at Tyler then back at Liam. Her cheeks turned a bright red before she reached up and wiped off the shaving cream from her face. She cleared her throat and grabbed her back from the floor along with the straight razor. "I.... I think you can finish on your own." Her voice was filled with embarrassment and she spoke fast as she left the straight razor by the bowl of water and shaving cream. She smiled apologetically at Tyler before practically running past him.

How could she have slipped up like that? She barely knew him! What about Roy?

Scarlett wasted no time in grabbing Liam by the arm and pulling him alongside her back to the room they were staying at. She feared there would probably be a worse future for the kid if she had left him in a room with Tyler. She hadn't noticed it, but the sky seemed to have darkened rather quickly. 'Hmm. Maybe a storm is coming?' She thought to herself before turning into the room and shutting the door behind her and the laughing boy. "Liam!" Scarlett practice ally hissed, still a bright Crimson. "Liam stop laughing. Listen to me!" She sat him down on the old bed and sat next to him, grabbing him by both of the arms, "Liam.... You can not tell anyone what you just saw. Especially Katie. Please. This needs to stay between us. Are you listening to me?" She moved around trying to hold eye contact with the boy, "Please. I'm begging you." Her eyes were wide as she pleaded with him, wanting nothing more than to see the boy either nod or say yes verbally. Truth be told she just wanted to laugh from how nervous she was but her fear that Liam might go off and tell Katie was greater than anything.
Scarlett - Motel - Tyler

Even with all of Tyler's moving and laughing, Scarlett had successfully managed to not get any shaving cream on her. She stood now, in front of him, her eyes locked onto his.

"Just leave it, okay?" Tyler's voice left Scarlett speechless, her eyes widening as she simply nodded. Her cheeks turned a faint pink as Tyler leaned in, and for the first time, she felt like a normal person in a normal situation. Without hesitation, Scarlett leaned in and placed her lips on his, dropping the straight razor and lifting her arms to wrap them around his neck and dig her fingers in his hair. Part of her mind was stuck on the fact that she now has shaving cream on her face and on her shirt but she didn't care. She let herself immerse herself in the moment.

Samantha - drive way - Abram/Tina/Turisa

Samantha had stayed behind Abram for the most part, but she kept Leah in front of her, wanting to protect her from both in front and behind. Her eyes darted from the strangers to Abram, worried that either one of them would do something irrational.

"Shelter?" Sam looked up at Abram, confused as to why some strangers would offer them shelter. "Abram... What about Jess?" For the first time since the encounter, the young woman spoke up and stepped out from behind both Leah and Abram, giving the woman named Tina and her companions a once over. "Can we trust them?" Her words were laced with fear and uncertainty as she spoke, yet her demeanor gave nothing away.
Scarlett - Motel - Tyler

"My dad said a good woman should always be good at three things. Cooking, shooting a gun, and using a straight razor. Strange words." Scarlett strained to keep her focus on the razor and as Tyler spoke. She would pause and then continue every time he'd stop talking, then stop again when he'd begin. Finally, she just stopped all together until he finished telling her about Katie.

Scarlett smiled at the thought of Katie standing up to her dad and made a mental note to give the girl kudos on what she, herself, could not do. This man both terrified and awed her. It was strange. "I like Katie too." She simply said as she took her eyes off of Tyler to wash the blade and get more shaving cream. When she turned, she saw the smile that dawned Tyler's face and she giggle a bit, reaching up and putting the shaving cream on him. "You look kind of weird smiling with shaving cream on." Scarlett laughed again, a bit more carefree and shook her head, trying to regain her composure.

"Okay. Okay I think I'm done. Sorry. Come down to my height for a minute." She waited until Tyler lowered himself and his face was in front of hers. She studied his face for a bit, secretly appreciating every bit of it, as she tried to figure out if she should go in for a full on clean shave or leave a bit.
Scarlett - Motel - Tyler

Scarlett hadn't realized that she had been biting her lip in anticipation, until Tyler accepted and she released it to smile at him. "Come... I have some water in the bathroom down the hall." She grabbed him by the forearm and turned him around, letting him go so that he could follow her on his own accord.

Once in the bathroom, Scarlett placed the small duffle bag on the empty sink and shrugged off her backpack, glancing over to Tyler then back at the bag. "I understand your anger now. Well, somewhat." She tried to explain to him as she took out the stuff she would need, "It was a lot to take in, I suppose. I should have approached the situation better.... but I understand."

Scarlett turned around and gestured for Tyler to come over. Once he was close enough, she sprayed shaving cream onto her hands and reached up slowly, standing on her tiptoes, not wanting to frighten him. "I promise I won't hurt you. I've done this before." She gave him a small smile before touching his face and spreading the foam. The beard felt funny under her hands and she bit her lip to keep her from either laughing or saying something stupid. Maybe it was to stop her from wanting to cry. This was something she used to do with her fiancé. It had been a long time since she last did this but it still hurt a bit. "There." Her voice was a quiet whisper as she let her hands down and stood on her feet rather than her tiptoes.
Scarlett - Baton Rouge/Motel - Tyler/Katie/Liam/George

Scarlett dug through the small duffle bag that she had managed to find behind a counter at the barber shop that she had searched. She was fairly proud of herself for coming up more than successful on her little adventure, even though it did help that the Tremblay people kept the area rather free of walkers. After making sure she had everything she needed, Scarlett shrugged on her backpack, grabbed her machete pro from the table and threw the duffle bag over her shoulder. She wasn't far from the motel but she still didn't want to be caught in the streets. Not with all this movement going on. The sound of a vehicle or vehicles moving to and fro echoed through the city. It made Scarlett jumpy and full of anxiety. Quietly, the young woman left the building through the back door and out into the alley way, making sure there were no walkers or humans before she began to jog back to the others.

It was around mid afternoon when Scarlett finally reached the motel. Her feet were beginning to bother her from the walking, and her legs aching from the running. She sighed with relief as she entered the door, feeling the comfort of being somewhere she knew was safe. She didn't hear the sound of gun shots, which was what she was expecting, seeing as how Tyler wanted to train the kids. 'Maybe they're done', Scarlett thought as she turned and made her way upstairs.

With her mind busy going over the argument that she had had with Tyler the night before and the way he decided to be distant in the morning, she hadn't noticed the sound of footsteps in the hallway as she turned the corner, nearly running into Tyler. "Shit.." Luckily, she had sheathed her blade by now or else the encounter would have been bloody. "I'm sorry... I should have been paying attention." The woman offered Tyler an apologetic smile, her eyes glancing quickly at his overgrown beard. "So you guys are done?" She felt the color come to her cheeks before she could feel the embarrassment of the question that she was about to blurt out. "Can I shave your beard?" Scarlett smiled sheepishly at the man and held up the small duffle bag in the small space between them. "I have a straight razor and some stuff in here... That's if you don't mind, of course."
Samantha - Baton Rouge House - Abram/Turisa/Leah

Samantha had stood quietly as she listened intently to Abram speak, turning her attention to Turisa only when she began.

Sam's eyes widened as she heard the woman's story of how Jess hadn't just up and left. She had been taken. Samantha gaped at Turisa as she kept going, apologizing after every other sentence. Samantha was more in shock than angry or upset. Quite frankly, Sam wasn't really phased by the news which was odd because she usually took a turn for the worst and would snap right about now.

In the back of her mind she knew it was probably because Samantha wasn't the biggest threat in the house at the moment. Not the police officer nor Abram really knew what Samantha could be capable of, but Samantha did have a fairly good idea of what Abram was capable of and her eyes shot up to him as she gauged him, assessing his reaction. She could practically feel the anger roll off of him in waves, standing right next to him. "Abram.." Samantha spoke quietly, biting her lip as a nervous reaction. Her eyes glanced downward to his weapon and it felt as if the blood from Samantha's face drained.

Luckily, Abram seemed to have controlled himself but not without much restraint. Sam ignored the bit he spoke to Turisa and very gently placed a hand on his arm, "Abe.... We need to go. We have to find Jess and I don't want to be here if those men did decide to follow us... Please?" She looked at him nervously and spoke in a small voice, not wanting him to snap. "I've already got most of the stuff on the couch."
