Personality: Though here is a soft side to Nana, some where in her mind, it just doesn't show itself often. To everyone she doesn't show that side to she is for the most part cold and distant. With those that she is around often, though, she smiles freely and laughs often. Things piss her off quickly, like someone leaving her door to her apartment open.
History: Being raised in the human world was...strange, but it tought Nana how to act when not in the Soul Society. Most of her child hood was being transfered in and out of Gigai while trying to attend some form of school. School was difficult to complete, though, becasue she was constantly moving from city to city. Her parents were run away from the Soul Society, and when the authorities would seem to catch up to their family they would move again. This happened for years, until finally Nana was able to understand and make choices for herself. This included going back to the Soul Society.
Since she had only just been born when her parents fled the Soul Society had only know she'd been born. This meant they didn't exactly know what she looked like or sounded like, and so, when she went back she was only met with mild suspicion. Of course that didn't last long when people started to pry into her background. She explained what her life had been like and what her parents were like, making it sound sort of like an adventure.
Not exactly knowing what her parents had done, she spilled the store in a public area. Since she was in one of the more shadier places of the Soul Society there were quite a few bounty hunters, which meant that they'd heard enough to understand who she was talking about. They came for her later that night.
A few hours later she woke up back in the human world, her soul shoved into a gigai of a man. Her arms and legs were bound and she was gagged, her only sight the space between the shoulders of two front seats. There was mummbling coming from the front of the van, but she couldn't make out any of it. As soon as the vehical stopped, thirty minutes later, she was hauled out of the van by two very large men. They stood on a side walk quietly for a few minutes until she realized where they were. The town her and her parents had last lived in before she'd gone back to the Soul Society.
She looked at the men on either side of her before she started to feel the tears well up in her eyes. A feeling of confusion settled on her and she gave a little sigh as the tears spilled over. She didn't understand what she'd gotten herself into.
It was at that point that they started walking toward the apartment complex the family had been staying at. Honestly she wanted to know how they knew where her family was, but the gag was kind of a speech problem. So she walked in silence as they approached, until she saw a familiar gigai coming from the lobby doors. Around the gag she made a loud squaking sound, making her mother turn her head toward the little group. At first her mother didn't understand what was happening, just seeing one man being carried around by two others...but that didn't exactly matter. She tore from her gigai anyway and came at them. The two bounty men hadn't been hiding their pressure well at all. Both of the men dropped Nana and pushed out of their shells, coming at her mother like miniature trains. As they clashed Nana tried to push her way out of her gigai, but couldn't exactly manage it. She laid there for a while before she started scooting away, rubbing the ropes on the rough assphault. She was just about to break them when she felt a hand grab that back of her hair and pulled her from the shell. It was one of the large men that had had her before. She could see the other over his shoulder, carrying her mother. She was crying quietly for fear of what the hunters would do.
The ride in the van was more uncomfortable because of the invisible force binding her this time. That, and the fact tha tshe could see her unconcious mother bleeding out across from her in the van. It would be another hour before they got to wherever they were going.
As the van came to yet another stop Nana's heart skipped a beat. She didn't know that she was about to spend a few days, though it felt like years, being tortured inside the torn up remains of a housing project. Her mother was killed the second night and the only reason she didn't die along with her was because her father ,and several other soul fugitives that he knew, arrived and cut down the two thugs. They just barely got away when the mastermind behind her pain showed up. The man had been tall and dark, even handsome, but it was all marred when he shot an arrow through her father's skull.
The men did what her father had asked them to, getting her away from the horrible man. She didn't talk for days after that. The men did what they could at one of their homes, stitching and burning what they could to keep infection out. Eventually everything settled, but Nana couldn't stay in the human world for much longer after that. She went back to the Soul Society, eyepatch in hand, and started to look for ways to make herself stronger. She searched for someone to teach her anything, until she found herself at the gates to the academy of the 13 Guard.
That day, 178 years ago, started her on her way to becoming a great Shinigami.
