Eun-ha Laine stands as a towering and intimidating composition. Cybernetics implants having jolted her height upwards to a lofty 203 centimeters in height and northward of 130 kilograms if you take in account the weight of her cybernetics. She carries this height and heft was an impressive amount of grace. She is clearly at this point very accustomed to her size and musculature and knows exactly how to use it an such a way that leads to the most devastating impact. Dancing about with the ease of a snowflake before coming crashing down with the weight of the avalanche.
Her features are a strange conglomeration of East Asian and Northern European. Managing to strike a chord of familiarity and dissonance at the same time of first viewing. As the features don't lay somewhere in the West or the East but somewhere lost in the middle. This jarring effect is only amplified upon close inspection of some parts of her flesh, which helps to give away the artificiality of it. It a facade of humanity that hides the gears and cogs that work below. The picture is completed by her black hair that falls just beyond her shoulders, which frame a face that holds an unsettling innocence trapped within eyes of grey.
Her style of clothing stands mostly in the realm of form and function. She is most commonly seen wearing her normal body armor and fatigues. The black offset slightly by the gunmetal gray of her arms and legs whose cybernetics remain exposed to the world. As a show of pride? As a display of apathy? It's hard to know. She seems to live day in and day out in her combat gear. In the days when she has a moment of respite, her casual clothing comes in simple, clean monochrome display of whites, grays, and blacks. Mostly in the form of athletic wear.

Folks remember what happened to the big countries: the USA, England, France, and the USSR. They always forget about the little guys lost in the tide. When folks are getting executed in your own backyard it's hard to stop and think about Nauru. The aide stopped coming in when people needed it the most. Countries that lived and died by Cold War realpolitik left to drown in the blood of their own people. The Republic of Korea was one such nation
The South had prospered in the years following the Korean War. American and Japanese capital, pumped into the country to block rising Communist ideologies. A prosperity that would increase as the ROK's relations with the USSR and China improved.
When the Exchange happened, the Korean Peninsula was shook to its core. Facing several strikes in the South meant to cripple the American military presence. Soon after Western troops withdraw to deal with crisis mounting at home. All the while unrest began mounting in the Republic. Seeing its chance the DPRK would invade, leading to another bloody war in 1994. The war would last for five years. The ROK military, Japanese volunteers, and various Chaebols finally defeating the DPRK in early 1999. Eventually leading to the establishment of the unified Korean Free State later that year.
Yet during the war, many families would flee the violence in an effort to seek greener pastures. One such family was the Bahng family: Se-hong, a professor of physics at Sungkyunkwan University; Kyung-sook, Se-hong's wife of ten plus years, and a teacher of literature at a local high school; Seo-yeon, the couples eight year old daughter. They would leave the country in 95', before the fighting got worse. Getting on a boat to Vladivostok, already on it's way to become the pirate haven it is today. From Vladivostok they would head West.
In 96' they would settle down in Helsinki; an associate of Se-hong's helping him secure a position at the Helsingin yliopisto. Finland like its other Scandinavian brothers had made it through the exchange in one piece. The foundations of a healthy democracy still holding true even as the military secured more power for themselves.
Seo-yeon would pursue a career that combined the paths of her father and mother. She took up writing becoming a successful author of science fiction. She would in 2011, marry a man by the name of Elias Laine. By trade Elias was an Economist, and by all accounts a kind man. Two years later in 2013, Seo-yeon would give birth to Eun-ha.
Eun-ha had a normal middle-class upbringing. She grew up in an apartment looking out over the Oulujoki in Oulu. She went to school where she excelled, much to the pride of her Father, in the maths and sciences. A B student overall just enough smarts to make it through her classes with minimal effort, but not enough to actually do anything worthwhile with them. She would gather a small collective of friends through her time playing Bandy. Despite this Eun-ha drifted throughout the early days of her life. Not having a real sense of ambition or purpose in her life.
Graduating in 2031, she would enlist for her mandatory year of military service through Finland's Universal conscription policy. (Conscription laws having intensified as the military assumed more authority.) She would join the Rajavartiolaitos. A year spent working the Finnish-Russian border. Catching refugees as the Russian SFSR began to crumble from the inside out. Every day reverting closer and closer to a stalinist police state. She would find herself enjoying her time in the military. That it had given her a sort of structure and purpose in the life that she up to that point had been lacking. It was fulfilling to help people.
Following her tour's end in 2032, a friend would talk her into signing up with the poliisi. She was one of the youngest applicants to the Police college at the age of nineteen. But her instructors appreciated her tenacity and dedication to her work. The work ethic her parents installed in her coming to great use. Two years later she would graduate and at twenty one she would join the Oulu Police Department.
A year later in 2035, a call would come down the vine. There was a active shooter at Oulun yliopisto. Some kid had found out his girl friend had been cheating on him with his best friend. It's safe to say that the kid didn't take it too well. Eun-ha like the rest of the police force went to the university to put an end to the violence. Cornered, the kid would take a hostage in the Pegasus library. Eun-ha would flank him and mange to wrestle him to the ground, taking a bullet in the arm in the process.
One stint in the hospital and one new arm later. Eun-ha would join the poliisin valmiusyksikkö. Known to most as the Karhu-ryhmä, the Bear Squad. The force's tactical and counter-terrorism unit based out Helsinki. The girl having drawn the attention of the team due to her heroic display at the library. Particularly the eye of Iisakki Franssi, the commander of Team Two, the man who Eun-Ha would work under.
At first it was slow going. Eun-Ha was rusty and her reaction time's with her new cybernetic arm weren't up to speed yet. She became disheartened and almost quit at three separate occasions. Each time it was Iisakki that dragged her back kicking and screaming. If he was honest, the only reason he could of given was that he saw something in her. A potential that he could tap into. It was this student/mentor relationship that pushed her through the first months.
Her first true test would come in early 2036. Following an accident in which a malfunctioning BIC caused a man to bludgeoned a child to death. Anti-augmentation tension had flared in Helsinki boiling over into a full blown riot. The riot turned violent and the Bears got called in to keep the peace. The memories have all seemed to bled together at this point, the cold, the fire, the yells, and the blood. Iisakki would take the full brunt of a shotgun when they tried to defuse a potential threat. He would survive but the augmentations had changed him. They say that happens to people. The body rejects them, there is no other way to explain it. He fell into a deep depression and within a year they would find him with a bullet in his brain.
Eun-Ha would serve with the Bears for another two years, up until the Loingsech Incident.
The year was 2038. An AI researcher from Loingsech was coming to Helsinki to give a talk. The Bears were tasked with making sure that he made it through in once piece. A lot of people could want such a man dead, some fanatics and fundamentalist and others Corporate Assassins. That wasn't going to happen, not on the Bear's turf. It woulds send the wrong the message, tell the world that if you came to Helsinki you weren't safe, that the laws really didn't matter. During his presentation, a man with a bomb vest would rush the podium. Eun-Ha was one of the officers stationed in the wings to act if such a thing happened. She pushed the researcher to the ground shielding him with her body.
The last thing she saw was the wooden floor of the stage.
The powers above noticed the display. Loingsech stepped in and recovered her body, or what was left of it anyway. She was in a state of the art hospital in Dublin an hour after the attack. A top cybernetic surgeon from Germany having been flown in with his team. Given accesses to the best materials and state-of-the-art medical technology. Money wasn't an object of concern when it came to Loingsech as long as the job was done.
Her parents didn't know of course, everybody that used to work with her assumed she died that day. Loingsech paid to clone a body double that would replace her at the funeral. Recreated the bombing in such a way to make sure the damage done matched what she had sustained. It was a nice funeral. She was praised as a hero, got a medal posthumously. The police chief was there and everything. Loingsech even paid for the casket.
It took the better part of four months for the German to stitch Eun-Ha back together. Skin and muscle was spit out for her by an organic 3-D printer. Reattached and reaffirmed to burnt and blasted flesh. Where organic material wouldn't be enough they replaced it with cybernetics melding flesh and machine together. They made her bigger, faster, stronger. It wasn't full cyberization, but it did go far beyond what most would ever dream of having. What they couldn't print out and replace they bought from organ dealers. Eyes, lungs, a new heart.
Those months for Eun-Ha were spent inside of a virtual reality construct. A perfectly reconstructed facade of an 1800s New England whaling ship. She had always liked the ocean growing up. The smell of the salt and the breeze running through her hair. She served as a deckhand running ropes and swabbing decks. It was grueling, it was hard, and it was perfect. When it came for the hunt, you could almost feel the adrenaline rush. Occasionally, the distorted face of the German would appear, a face within the clouds or the sea. Always apologetic he asked her questions, to make sure her faculties were in order. His low gravelly voice surrounding her like the wind.
And then one day when she opened her eyes she wasn't on the ship anymore. She was a bed in a private hospital in Dublin. The German was peering over her with a smile on his face as he staff rushed around him. The air smelled like disinfectant mixed with the smell of pumpkin pie. Everything was white and her eyes hurt from just being open for as long as they had. "There are some very important people that would like to speak to you Ms. Laine."
She was brought to a dark room. Soon enough she was surrounded by voices that came to pull at her from the void. The voices told her that they were impressed with her heroism. That they decided to give her another chance. That not many people ever got an offer like this. To live again, to come back from what would of killed anybody else and start again. They offered a new job, a new mission, a new life in a way. Eun-ha accepted the voices bargain, it wasn't like she had any other choice in the matter. Loingsech owned her now. They owned her in a way that only a corporation of their power could. Completely and utterly.
The first three years were spent much as she imagined them to go. The world of corporate espionage and wet-work wasn't too far flung from life with the Bears cept of course you killed a lot more. Intimidation, destruction, kidnapping, extraction, and assassination. She did it all for Loingsech and she did it well. The new body that the German had made for her making her like a colossus striding across the battlefield. Killing a human was easy after all, but killing a machine that was a hard thing to do. The work changed her, warped her, and reshape her into what Loingsech needed her to be, for her real job ahead.
During this time she placed under the direction of a man by the name of Jack. Jack had been running corporate his entire life. A lithe graying Australian his official title in the company was security consultant. As Jack would put it, "The best security was making sure everybody that might screw you over was dead." They were to act as partners, but Eun-ha knew it for what it was, he was there to shoot her if she decide to run. Loingsech was smart like that, they didn't put their faith in kill chips and other technology. If there was a problem you had somebody deal with it themselves in person. Only way to be sure.
Then about five years ago in 2042, Jack informed her that they were parting ways. That Eun-ha would be sent off to their Hong-Kong office. And that's all he knew on the matter.
When she arrived on Ap Lei Chau, she would meet Director Matsuoka, an aging Japaneses man that was in charge of the Hong Kong labs. Matsuoka reminded Eun-ha of the German, she never did like the German. The Director would then introduce her to her new charge, a ten year old girl called 0826-9. 0826-9 was shy at the time and barely talked and Eun-ha large and imposing figure made her shy away even more. It was explained to Eun-ha that they she would be serving a dual role from that point onward. First to serve as this young girl's body guard and second to serve as her companion. One of the only faces that 0826-9 would ever truly know beyond the scientists in the lab.
At first 0826-9 would continue to shy away from the woman. But as time progressed, a slow bound was slowly forged between the two of them. Eun-ha would serve as a teacher in many ways, teaching hte young girl things that the researchers didn't. Like about animals, the weather, and even basic combat skills once it was deemed an appropriate time. And now it is time for 0826-9 to go and Eun-ha is of course along for the ride.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Eun-ha is a peculiar one. Holding no outward allegiance or faith to prescribed dogma. The ideas of creator and destiny being seen as nothing more than the same word in the end - a cage. Instead she prefers that which allows for your own path to be carved. A desire for power, for strength, to have not but herself hold absolute dominion over her next step. Desires which often come into direct conflict with her work with Loingsech. Desires which are than forced downward to simmer and boil with rage and want. She harnesses this rage like an artist his brushes, and a butcher her knives, as a tool. The rage drives her foward and keeps her standing, for as long as the fires burn one day the tower will have to fall. She launches herself at new problems and challenges yearning for a means of satisfaction, to get better so that one day she may be able to free herself on her own terms. Adversity being the forge which she will craft the blade to cut her bonds. To that end she believes in the triumph of the self, that to rely on others is to only create more bondage, more anchors to hold you down. To this end she is described by many as individualistic and selfish. A point she will not argue.
When she is not indulging the flames of her rage, she is finding ways to quench it and suppress it. To fill the burning void with something and anything for just a moment, for a second of peace and solace. Filled at various times with whatever vice you may have imagined. Those of the flesh, of the material, and the emotional. Too many one nights stands to count. Long nights drinking at the bar until closing time rolls around. She's tried almost every drug on the market at least once, before the chemical neutralizer learn to process and nullify their effects. For Eun-ha, the consumption is habitual despite its ineffectiveness. A visceral need to find something and anything at all to silence her demons, to fuel the fire. Loingsech seems to aware of this issues, but seems to tolerate it none the less. For it is a controlled and manageable self-destruction. Despite her reservations against her current position, she does her job and Loingsech seems to respect that. Her record of obedience spotless and without a mark of detest - for Eun-ha is smart enough to know that it is better to play the system than fight against it.
But there are rare times when one can see a reflected mirror of Eun-ha's past self. They come mostly in her interactions with 0826-9. There is a surprising softness then to her voice and smile. Strange and seemingly out of place like an arctic breeze roaring over the Sahara. And in there you see parts and glimpses of the woman who existed before Loingsech. A woman that enjoyed reading books, and going to the bar with her friends. A woman who from the ages of five to fifteen wanted to be nothing else in the world except for either a veterinarian or an astronaut or a veterinarian astronaut. A girl that just wanted to help. And as quickly as these glimpses appear. They vanish back down. Swallowed by the fire, forgotten a little bit more every time to fuel the rage.

When Loingsech "recruited" her in 2038, it was because she checked off a lot of boxes for them. The Bears were some of the best in the business at what they did, you had to be doing what they did in a world where a crook can potentially rip your arm off. Trained with a variety of fire arms, in close quarter combat, squad tactics, hostage situations, VIP protection, vehicular skills, explosives training, and the rest of the works. All which could make anyone a prize to be seized. She also displayed an unfathomable amount of courage that not a lot of souls posses. Willing, time and time again, to throw life and limb down on the line to complete the mission. Loingsech liked that, it spoke to their ideals and operating style. She also possessed signs of a protective maternal instinct that Loingsech in their foresight knew would come in handy.
After her Augmentations, her combat capacity has only been amplified in its current form. A walking human death machine by any definition of the word. She can take more punishment than anyone else and dish it right back out. The cybernetics taking her skills and only amplifying and intensifying them. Making her in many ways the perfect implacable guardian for 0826-9.

Making her in many ways the perfect implacable guardian for 0826-9.

► Rempart Rapid Assault Armor
Shipped out from a state-of-the-art laboratory in France. The RRA armor stands as a testament to lengths to which the big corps will go to fit out their guys with the best gear. The armor itself is composed of multilayer alloy matrix system that gives the armor its remarkable strength. Below the allow layer is a thick temperature regulated armored body suit, that rests atop of a kinetic gel-layer used to absorb and dampen hard physical shocks. Below the gel-layer is an inner skin-suit made of synthetic materials that allow direct interface into on-board cybernetic augmentations. The RRA also comes pre-installed with various magnetic holsters allowing for ease of access to whatever weapons the user may be carrying on them.
►RE32 Close Assault System (RE32 CAS)
RE32 is what the professionals would call a a pump-action, magazine-fed, dual tubular weapon system. To everybody else it is called a shotgun. Produced on mass from a belarusian arms manufacture in the 2010s, it has quickly become a mainstay of corporate types looking for something to use in a close quarters engagement. It packs a heritage of impressively high stopping power and ease of use, you just point it at the other guy and pull the trigger and they usually end up dead. It can hold incendiary rounds, rifle slugs, flechettes, and a variety of other forms of ammunition, allowing for its user to have a bullet for every occasion. When you need to put somebody down, look no further.
►Bullpup Variable Assault System
The Bullpup Variable Assault System (BVAS), is a hold over from Eun-ha's years with the Bears. Their favored assault rifle of Finnish design and make. Coated with a proprietary dry lubricant which repels sand, dust, and gunpowder soot for reduced maintenance. The rifle is also designed to be over the beach capable, enabling the operator to safely fire after submerging the rifle in water. This is combined with the ambidextrous nature of its design allowing for a quick swapping of rails and barrels to change the BVAS into three pre-arranged firing positions. One a submachine gun variant, the second a marksman's rifle, and the third a more traditional assault rifle allowing for the gun to serve assault, marksman and suppressive roles. There are newer rifles of course that probably do the job better, but Eun-ha still uses the BVAS probably out of the sense of familiarity more than anything else.
► J7S
The J7S is an unassuming little darling. A compact, Chinese-made pistol that is typically made to order for special forces units. With an integrated sound suppressor and muzzle brake, the J7S is typically used by Eun-Ha when the theatrics of the RE32 or BVAS may be undesired. Due to the nature of the pistol's design and the ammunition which it shoots, the J7S is intended more for soft targets than hard targets. It'll do its job swimmingly against exposed flesh and basic body armor. But anything beyond that, well than you better hope your brining something bigger the table.
