As soon as Irena held the orb, Galen set to his task. His eyes began to glow a vibrant blue as his consciousness transferred into the orb. As the Queen absorbed it, he felt every fiber of her being as his energy seeped through her body. Once established, he searched for specific magical signatures left by seals. He had to find every single one of them before he started the task of undoing them, or else he would risk making a lethal mistake. Even without making a single mistake, Irena would be experiencing the pain of each and every seal unlocked… and there were hundreds.
These seals were added and passed from generation to generation, making the gift more and more powerful with each seal added. More powerful, and more uncontrollable. Only by becoming one with the power could a changeling hope to control their transformations, and each seal was an obstacle they had to overcome. Not only did they have to unlock all of them, but they had to do so in a specific order, or else they’d release too much of their own energy at once, killing them instantly. On top of that, the changeling has to withstand the building pressure of each seal, until the final one, anchored to the heart and mind, was released, granting them full control of their transformative powers.
This final seal, however, was not in his ability to fully open. He could unbar the door, but the changeling themselves must push it open. To do this they must have a clear mind and must truly forgive themselves for whatever their transformation might have made them do in the past… and they must be at peace in their hearts. No jealousy or hatred may be harbored there for the seal to be undone.
"You simply hold it in your hands... Well that's the easy part. The hard part is keeping your grip on it once the pain gets to you... It should take maybe five minutes. You're lucky, because I've done this before and can make the process much faster. Less powerful or more inexperienced wizards could do this in two hours, at minimum without risking the lives of either the caster or subject of the spell."
Sending a thread of magic into the queen, he cast a spell to help her ease the pain she would experience. Whereas before it would feel like someone was flaying her skin off while she constantly regrew it, now it would feel more like a sporadic stab of pain.
Galen wordlessly entered the castle, making sure the queen was following. He quickly navigated the castle using his memory of his stay here, long ago. Opening the door to the queen's chambers, he again created the orb. Holding it in one hand he motioned with the other for the queen to come inside before he closed and locked the door.
Galen gave a nod of acknowledgement to the two before heading to the castle doors, his eyes lingering on the witch girl.
At hearing the voice near the gate, he immediately doused the glowing orb.
"Oh... It seems you have visitors. Perhaps we should continue this after you've spoken to them... I will wait at the entrance to the castle. Then we should make for the privacy of your chambers."
Under his breath, he added, "Please trust me... You don't want people to see you as you're absorbing the energy I must give you."
"I suppose your parents never told you what you really are, then?"
The wizard's eyes held a barely perceptible glow, beginning to gather some magic in the palm of his free hand.
"You are a dragonkin. A human who has been granted the power... and curse of transformation. The Dragons and Rulers of old made a pact of blood to combine powers against a common enemy. They call themselves the Dark Ones. They are a manifestation of the evil within every person. If someone becomes overwhelmed with negative energy, They can become a Dark one, part of a collective, evil conscious which seeks to conquer all the world."
Taking the ball of magical energy gathered in his free hand, he held it out to the queen. "Take this. It will allow me to help you keep control the next time you transform. It will be painful, but once you fully absorb it, it will feel as if you simply hit your hands on something hard..."
He held back a silent tear, hating to do something as painful as this to someone he had known since they were but a crying babe in his arms.
"Different? That's a very vague answer... Are you hiding something? Perhaps something to do with the increased guard?"
Looking around, he assured himself there wasn't anyone nearby. Satisfied that they were alone, his voice dropped to a whisper. "Have you made the transformation yet?"
Be prepared for some combat then. I don't think Isaiah is going to like that... and friends of the queen are gonna look for you too.
Lol same here. I'm also doing another RP that requires at least a page of writing per post DX
Taking the queen's hand, Galen led her back into her castle. "So, you must tell me, your majesty... Have there been any happenings of late?"
He sent a small thread of magic through his hand into hers, taking note of her current composure. It was something he often did when he wanted to relax someone... or if he wanted to be able to tell if they were lying. Every twitch of a muscle could give away a person's true thoughts, no matter what tales the tongue may spin.
