Bio

I am a 25-year-old graphic designer for a handful of small town newspapers and I desperately need a different job 🙃.

Hobbies: Twitch streaming, video games, creative writing, digital art, music production, singing, social media, existential crises
Current obsessions: Minecraft, Helluva Boss, Hazbin Hotel, writing my comic, demonolatry
Myers-Briggs Type: INFP

One fun fact about me is that I am a spiritual Luciferian/Satanist! I am really into demonolatry and witchcraft as a spiritual practice used to improve my mental health and overall character. I do not summon demons for the sake of being edgy. I just find them really neat :)

My favorite role plays involve fantasy and dark themes. I especially have a fascination with vampires, so I would LOVE to join basically any vampire role play. If you ever want to chat with me, just send me a message.

Appearance

Personality
By all accounts and purposes, Preston is not a very good vampire. He is compassionate, gentle, and a coward when it comes to conflict. This makes feeding a chore, having to battle his conscience while still managing to survive. Because of this, his main sources of food are drunks and heavy drug users because it wouldn’t be unusual for them to “pass out” unexpectedly only to awaken later with no memory of what happened. Occasionally, he will partake in group feeding so long as he doesn’t have to make the actual kill.
Preston does not view humans as lower creatures and quite enjoys observing them, although it is hard to be around humans without feeling that instinctual hunger. He thinks the most beneficial course of action for vampires and humans alike would be to make humans aware of the existence of vampires and allow for some sort of mutual feeding agreement that would reduce the need to kill. Of course, he has no delusions about the current state of mind within the general vampire community towards humans and knows that revealing themselves would most likely cause panic more than anything else.
History
Preston was born in New York City in 1923 to working-class parents. He was only a child when the Great Depression hit, forcing his mother out of her job to stay at home while his father continued working hard for even less than he had been earning before. Preston’s family scraped by below the poverty line until 1939 when main economic conditions began to stabilize again.
When WWII rolled around and the United States entered the War in 1941, Preston was 18. His father was already too old to be considered for war, but Preston began to fear he would soon be drafted, knowing that he could never handle a battle situation. If there was a god out there, it certainly heard Preston’s silent prayers every drafting period. Eventually, the war ended and Preston never ended up having to fight, although his peers criticized his cowardice, saying he should have been drafted just because of his squeamishness.
Preston finished school and moved out on his own in 1947, still staying within the city. It was then he met the people that would change the course of his life forever. They had seemed like a normal group of young persons around his age, though he only ever saw them smoking and hanging around at night as he returned to his apartment from work. They approached him one night, inviting him to a dinner gathering of sorts and he politely agreed, just happy to have something social to do for once. He should have felt wary of entering the underground hangout for a dinner party and he ended up being dinner at the end of their fangs.
Of course, he wasn’t the only human they’d invited there. But he was the only one spared from death. These were young and inexperienced vampires. Apparently, one of the girls had taken a liking to him from observing him for quite some time and so she turned him into a vampire as well, essentially gifting him a longer life. Preston didn’t see it as a gift, struggling with the concept of needing to feed at least once a week in order to survive. Fleeing from the group of young vampires, he tried to live off rodent blood for a while, but the taste was so awful, he couldn’t keep it down most nights.
Name:
Adam Hanley
Age:
29
Gender:
Male
Species:
Vampire
Appearance:
(I will put a picture here once I finish it) Adam has shoulder-length wavy red hair with many layers so it always looks a bit unkempt. His green eyes are usually hooded behind blond eyelashes and his mouth seems to rest in a perpetual smirk.
Personality:
Adam is a trickster who loves to flirt and have a good time. He takes pleasure in the hunt, preferring to stalk his victims for a while to make them paranoid, but hardly ever kills within the city just in case it could be traced back to him. Other than that, he acts like your typical smug punk who can hold way more alcohol than a normal person should be able to.
Abilities/Skills:
He possesses supernatural strength, speed, and senses. Using his voice and gaze, he can mildly influence the actions of a human, but could never get them to do something that would go against their morals (can’t make someone murder, steal, or eat meat if they’re vegan). He likes to use this ability frequently when preying upon humans to either make them forget they were fed upon or simply put them to sleep.
Weaknesses:
The sunlight hinders his ability to use his powers to their fullest and attempts to persuade humans in the sunlight often fail. Powers of persuasion rarely work on other supernatural beings. Religious symbols when wielded by one who holds a sincere belief in that symbol can burn his skin. Also, he cannot enter someone’s place of living without being invited in.
Driving a stake through his heart would completely paralyze him, though it wouldn’t be deadly. Beheading or complete destruction of his body in any way would effectively banish him from existence in a pile of ash. If he spends a grossly long period of time without having any blood, he would surely wither away into nothing.
Also, he’s super grossed out by maggots.
Brief history/background:
Adam was turned into a vampire in Boston, Massachusetts in 1878 by a vampire who promptly abandoned him. Very little of his life as a human can be remembered, but when he was first turned, he was a menace to Boston, feeding on whomever he pleased whenever he pleased, much to the chagrin of the older vampire society around the city at that time. Without a mentor, he was forced by his own reckless behavior to move around various cities for many years but was eventually taken under the wing of an older vampire who showed him how to live in a more discreet fashion while still enjoying life's pleasures.
Adam traveled away from his mentor to London at the turn of the 21st century, confident in his ability to live on his own in human society without being caught. He’s still causing a bit of mayhem every now and then, though.
Anything else:
He’s pansexual.
Yeah, I don't think the GM's coming back, so I'm gonna take my character back to maybe put him in another rp.
@Tombprince Yeah, Adam's definitely killed, especially when he was first turned. Occasionally, he still does, but he's been more mindful since the discovery of forensics. Can Steffan feel the touch of spirits? Because that should be a clue to him when he gets fed from that Adam is not a normal spirit.

@Athinar Okay, then I guess Adam lives in the Quaela! Probably in a fancy coffin because he likes the drama.
@Athinar I don't know. I didn't realize there was an "outside" group. I thought it was a gathering place, but if it's a permanent living place, Adam would most definitely want to live there because it fits to his self-important taste. If it gives him extra protection, he'd definitely be in on the action.

@Tombprince Backstory could be fairly simple. Adam came across Steffan one night, planning to feed and ditch because he assumed he was drugged up and would have no memory of the event. When he realized Steffan seemed to be schizophrenic, Adam found it amusing and coerced him into coming along with him. Perhaps Steffan agreed because the pain of being bitten provides temporary grounding to visible reality?
@Tombprince
A walking blood bank would probably be useful to Adam for when he can't find other prey. Especially with murders of supernaturals happening, it would be more beneficial to lessen the time he needs to spend hunting. At least for his own self-preservation.

The Queens coven took him in, but they soon realized he was useless on hunts and he spends his nights on the receiving end of sneers.
He’s been contemplating leaving the Queens vampire coven for quite some time now, but doubts he would be able to survive on his own.
