The moon will rise. The night shall last forever!

Bio

"This is necessary. They leave me no choice. They would not listen. I tell only the truth. They called me a heretic, now they are dead. Blind to the truth, ignorant thralls. I cannot turn back. I will be heard. My eyes are open, they could not break me. No more lies, follow no false light. A new moon is rising. Dusk approaches. Embrace the night. Bring down the sun. The moon also rises, chosen of the moon. Twilight fades: nightfall. Night approaches: dusk. The moon will rise. The night will last forever." - Diana, Scorn of the Moon No Mercy for the Guilty. **Roman Mess Hall** As the Roman soldiers walked away, the 96th legion soldier who had yet to speak up stood and began to address the Solusi who had intervened. "We thank you First Officer. We would have hated it if your impression of us was stained by a fight breaking out aboard your ship. Even if it were through no fault of our own, I doubt those among you would be very friendly to any of us Roa'marii after an incident." "We could've taken them in a fight. They wouldn't have stood a chance. We aren't in the elite legions for nothing." Jos'arro grumbled, slightly upset that he hadn't had the chance to fight some of the new xenos hand to hand. He was then silenced with a glare from the guard who he had cut off. "Please excuse him, I'm sure he was looking forward to testing his strength on your soldiers. I am Agent Lai'saron and these two are Agents Ebo'name and Str'odis. we are members of the 96th Legion of the Roa'marii Empire. Those three are Sergeants Jos'arro, Per'atio, and Col'cato of the 42nd legion." Agent Lai'saron told the First Officer, pointing to each of the soldiers as he named them. He was about to continue when he was interrupted once more, this time by Sergeant Per'atio. "Before you two go on into more diplomatic talks, is it possible that we could find a training room of some sort? While i'm not as prone to violence as Jos'arro, I'd like to get in a good workout after eating." "You wouldn't happen to be able to show us to one such are would you? We would be quite grateful, and it would probably help get us away from the majority of the negative attention we seem to be receiving." **Docking Bay** General Kaisur looked around the hanger and at each of the five Roman soldiers one by one. He said nothing as he walked up to each Roman, looking each one up and down, his gaze staying longer at their eyes as it moved over them. After a couple minutes of silent observation the general began to speak. "Imperator, I would like to warn you beforehand. Magic is not to be trifled with. Do not try to do anything beyond your own power or it could very easily go very bad for not only yourself, but everyone around you. I'm glad you picked some disciplined soldiers for me, it'll make this much easier. Now, if you want to watch the training then stay out of the way. If you're going to participate then i suggest you forget your title and stand among these five. All of you are new to magic and as such you are all newly recruited rookies. Now, let us begin." General Kaisur then took out his sword, the handle glowing a soft green along with the gauntlet on the general's hand. The sword floated until it was at chest height halfway between the general and the Romans. Then Jer'rahd began to teach. "Since you seem to have felt the magic in you already, i'm going to skip the whole look into yourself bullshit. Now, you've never used this magic before so lets start with magic 101. Magic comes from a natural source that permeates the universe. Each person has access to their own personal pool that they are born with. Some species have large pools, while others have next to no access to it at all. Yours seems to have a fairly large natural pool, but that doesn't mean you can do a lot. For beginners, the simplest spells will take incredible amounts of power. over time, through practice you can become more efficient with spells. I always believe that a few good spells mastered is better than a large number of spells with little control. Telekinesis is perhaps the simplest spell there is for the standard magic user, so we'll start with that." Jer'rahd then took out a handful of small pebbles and gave each Roman one to hold. "You must focus the magical energy on the object and form the spell as if it were a net wrapping around it. you then apply a pull in the desired direction to get it to move. Focus the energy inside you on the pebbles you're holding. Once all of you are able to cause the pebbles to float in the air we will continue. If you manage it before someone else, keep practicing. try to use smaller amounts of magic each time." With the first objective given, Jer'rahd watched the Romans attempt to grasp their magic.
Name of nation: New United Roa'marii Empire Species: The main species among the Empire is the Roa'marii themselves. These creatures are humanoid and slightly taller and bulkier than the average Human. They have a pale gray skin and large cat-like eyes due to their home planet being half shrouded in near eternal darkness caused by large storm fronts that block out the sun on the majority of the planet's surface. They have elongated fingers ending in sharp claws. The Roa'marii have a distinct ability to call upon an energy that can be called magic and manipulate it to perform a large number of feats. While all Roa'marii have some magical ability, most Roa'marii only hold the capacity for weak telekinesis and little more. There exists a total of seven Roa'marii that hold the power of an immortal god. These seven are biologically immortal and have incredibly large pools of power to draw from along with a very quick healing factor. While they can be killed in combat, it is extremely difficult to do so. If a Roa'marii god is killed, his power is sent out and randomly enters into another Roa'marii. It is possible with the correct rituals to trap that power and funnel it into a specific person. The Empire is willing to accept any species into their fold so long as they swear alligence to the Emperor and prove themselves as formidable opponents in battle. Description of Government: the Roa'marii Empire is led by an emperor who is always a member of the immortal Roa'marii gods. The current ruler is the Nightmare Emperor who has ruled with his five immortal generals since the founding of the New Empire. The United Empire is split into a number of smaller states that each have their own governments and are all subordinate to the Roa'marii empire itself. The empire is heavily militaristic and values military leaders who normally hold powerful political positions as well. Besides the Emperor himself, the five generals are the most powerful political leaders. Description of Military: The Roa'marii military is set up in a number of Legions specializing in different fields. All citizens of the Roa'marii Empire are required to attend basic military training at an early age. From there, citizens can choose to advance into further military training or leave the military. This makes sure that in the case of invasion all Roa'marii citizens are able to rise up and defend themselves against an enemy force. Those who remain in the military are sent into further training to prepare themselves for a number of legion tests. These tests decide which type of legion the soldiers will be sent to. A soldier may choose at this point to stay in the basic legions of that type or receive advanced training to attempt to enter one of the elite legions led personally by the five immortal generals. The legion divisions are as follows: 42nd Legion: the elite land assault based legion led by Immortal General Jer'rahd Kaisur. 48th Legion: the elite siege legion led by Immortal General Ble'reu Escal. 63rd Legion: the elite airborne legion led by Immortal General Sta'falia Silvad. 76th Legion: the elite medical legion led by Immortal General Zer'icia Velkora. 96th Legion: the elite assassin legion led by Immortal General Rhe'deri Peltis Weapons and Armor: The standard weapon for infantry is the mana rifle. The mana rifle uses streams of highly energized mana that works in a similar way to plasma weapons. The rifle draws mana from the soldier who wields it. The weapon does not require strong control over mana pools or even a large mana pool, but as mana rifles are tuned to the signature of the Roa'marii soldiers, they cannot be scavenged from the battlefield by enemy forces. Specialist forces of the Roa'marii use a variety of other weapons such as snipers, rocket launchers, or flamethrowers. High power magic users among the Roa'marii wield special armor made from a material known by the Roa'marii as Lunar Steel that amplifies the power of magical attacks, making it far less taxing on the individual mage to fight for long periods of time. Battle mages typically specialize in high powered ranged bombardments as well as illusions used to make armies appear much smaller or larger than they actually are. Every soldier is equipped with a short power sword and a pistol in addition to their other weaponry. Standard issue armor is made of an under suit of carbon fiber covered by a suit made from a heavy titanium alloy. High ranking officers such as the Immortal Generals wear armor made from an alloy of a material known as Arcadian Steel that is found in incredibly low quantities on the Roa'marii home planet of Arcadia. This metal is able to absorb incredible amounts of mana and is incredibly strong. The metal is capable of blocking magic and is one of the few things that can easily kill an Immortal Roa'marii god. The metal has been used to create special swords and daggers wielded only by the Immortal Generals and the Nightmare Emperor himself. Technological Overview: the technology of the Roa'marii Empire revolves around the magical abilities of their people. Vast ships known as mana-link arrays are a major piece of Roa'marii mana tech ships. These ships are made up of a large group of much smaller ships in a swarm-like formation that are connected to one another through beams of mana. These ships are able to split apart and reform at will and can combine power in order to fire devastating beams whose power goes up greatly the more ships join the array. These arrays are mainly used in combination with portal technology to send blasts of mana through space and bombard enemy fleets or planets from many light years away. The main ships found in the Roa'marii fleets however do not have the mana-link properties and are instead known as the Dark Fleets or Void Ships. The Roa'marii ships are made specially so that no light is given off and the hull is completely black. Special systems in the hull cool it down to the temperature of the space around it so as to greatly reduce the effectiveness of heat tracking while cloaking devices block most long range scans. These ships excell in remaining unseen until the time is right to begin an assault. The main weapons on these ships are mana cannons that fire beams of mana stored in mana batteries much like those on board mana-link ships. The ships also use railgun tech to fire large projectiles at incredibly high speeds. History: The Roa'marii people evolved and grew on the planet Arcadia, which deals with near constant global storms that block out most of the sunlight on the planet for very long periods of time. This led to many ancient Roa'marii nations hiding under the shroud of darkness and storm fronts to raid other nations for much needed food and supplies. By the time the Roa'marii finally achieved space travel and relative unity, there were seven nations of the Roa'marii people, each ruled by an immortal god. These nations competed for territory in their solar system. A number of wars took place over time that eventually ended in a single empire ruled by a sole immortal emperor. This Roa'marii Empire began to quickly spread out across the stars until a fairly large chunk of the Galaxy was under their influence. This prosperity ended with the reign of the Mad Emperor Cru'belis. This emperor led the empire into a war against an ancient power it could not compete with. The armies were successful at first, but we're soon pushed back. Then began the decimation of the Roa'marii Empire. In the end, the Roa'marii were subjugated under this enemy and forced back into their home solar system. Centuries later began the Nightmare Rebellion. This rebellion was led by the new god after Cru'belis who still reigns today as the Nightmare Emperor. By stealing an important relic of the enemy's the Nightmare Emperor gained immense power for the price of sanity and was able to strike back with a devastating blow. Armies of magically enhanced soldiers marched forth and retook the old empire's territory. But the New Empire didn't stop there, it attacked and all but exterminated its foe, starting a series of extermination wars on all other factions nearby. After many centuries, the Nightmare Emperor broke free from his insanity and withdrew the Empire inwards, allowing others to take its place. Since then the Empire has served to protect smaller factions nearby by absorbing them into the United Empire and hitting back against their foes. The United New Roa'marii Empire now stands to protect fledgling nations as reparation for their past devastation of the cultures around them.
The soldiers merely shrugged and began to follow the Imperator to a large mess hall. Various Romans were seated around the hall each eating his own food or talking to nearby friend of theirs. Upon the entrance of the six Roa'marii soldiers many heads turned and the sounds of idle chatter quieted down. The six soldiers picked up some food and sat down at a nearby table which had previously been empty. As the soldiers ate, they could hear hushed murmurs coming from the aliens. While the majority of the words were either too quiet to make out or couldn't be understood by the basic language rings the six wore, a few words rang in their mind. Words such as "aliens" and "outsiders" tended to come up quite frequently. The soldiers were battle hardened veterans of many battles along the fringe worlds of the Roa'marii Empire, but never before had these soldiers been guests in an alien vessel belonging to a group that they had never before made contact with. It didn't matter, however, what the Romans thought of these six Roa'marii soldiers at their first meeting. All that mattered was the first contact and the relations that would be built from there. The six soldiers were largely quiet before one of them spoke up. "Ebo'name, what do you suppose the aliens think of us here in their ship?" one of the 96th legion guards asked another. "I'm not entirely sure what they think of us Str'odis, but i'm sure they are both curious and wary of us. We are entirely new to them, and now we eat at the very same tables they do." "I suppose you are right." "I think you both need to stop thinking about it so much. Whether they like us being here or not doesn't matter. we'll be gone soon anyway i'm sure." A third soldier of the 42nd said to the other two. "Well I'm sorry if we aren't as heavy handed as you are Jos'arro. We weren't all trained to be killing machines like your general and nothing more" Ebo'name replied "Oh yea? Is that supposed to be an insult? You shadow walkers wouldn't last ten minutes on the front lines like us." Jos'arro shot back before another 42nd soldier spoke up. "Hey, quiet. It appears your argument caught the attention of a few of these Romans. look over there, we've got company." ----- **Roa'marii Flagship** With the message sent to the Nightmare Emperor, Rhe'deri Peltis was to stay behind and await a response. Meanwhile, General Jer'rahd Kaisur was in charge of heading back to the Roman ship to provide a basic understanding of magic. With his black armor on, still bearing a number of scars gouged into the outer plate from previous battles, Jer'rahd strapped his double bladed sword to his back and prepared to depart. The sword was known by most as the Waning Moon, one of the few remaining crescent blades used ages past in the old draconic wars. It was a relic from a time forgotten by most, but it was far greater than an antique. The Waning Moon was made of Arcadian Steel, one of the strongest metals known to the Roa'marii, and one of the rarest. It's properties were the stuff of legends, being able to block access to magic through a mere scratch and absorbing any that was used on it, draining the user at incredible speeds. Few could even hold the blade without becoming fatigued. But General Kaisur was not a normal man. He was an immortal general of the Roa'marii. The most decorated warrior of all since the New Empire's founding, and also the most feared on the battlefield. But today was a different battlefield. Today was the time for diplomacy and magic lessons. Today a new race joined alliance with the Roa'marii. And so, the transport took off once more with an entirely different man aboard.
General Peltis thought on the request he as received for a few seconds. On one hand, these magic lessons would surely bring the two empires into a much stronger alliance than simple trade relations could. On the other, the time and resources required for the training of enough Romans to access a force they had never tapped into let alone used would be immense. But an alliance could lessen the burden of this cost while another powerful nation's help would greatly expand the protection project of the Roa'marii helping newfound space faring nations to grow strong. Yes, an alliance would easily outweigh the costs and possibly even usher in another era of expansion and prosperity for both empires. "It would be an honor to teach your people, but I'm afraid I am not the best person to ask for teaching in how to find and use magic. I rely a bit too much on large pools of it and don't practice the finese you would require to truly make use of your abilities in an efficient fashion. Our own Emperor would be far better suited as a teacher than myself. I will send a message back to our own home world of Arcadia to inform the Emperor of this rather interesting development. In the meantime, another colleague of mine could show you the basics. General Jer'rahd Kaisur isn't very fond of species outside the United Empire or diplomacy, a product of past wars, but he can help you get a basic grasp of your magic, or at least learn how to feel it for yourselves. I'll go and get him from our ship while I send a message to the Emperor. I'll leave these six soldiers here with you. I give you authority to do with them as you wish. They shouldn't be a problem." With that, General Pelt turned and began to walk back to the transport shuttle the Roa'marii had come in on. The six guards stayed back with the Imperator to wait aboard the Roman ship for either orders from the Roman Imperator or the arrival of the other Immortal General Jer'rahd Kaisur. They watched with emotionless stares as the shuttle lifted up then flew off into space towards the waiting ship to deliver its message to the Nightmare Emperor.
General Peltis was silent for a moment, his mind taking in the question he had just been asked. Did these Romans not have access to magic? But no, he could feel it, especially now as he actively searched for it, there was definitely something there, hidden deep within these Romans. It seemed absurd that a nation of such strength and sophistication as the New Roman Empire quite obviously had would not have used, or even seemingly noticed the abilities they had been born with. Did they honestly had no clue as to the power they held inside? These thoughts all crossed through his head in an instant though his facial features betrayed not even the slightest hint of surprise. Instead the General began to speak. "I apologize, I would have told you what I was doing first had I known you had no knowledge of it. I used a form of energy we call magic. It is a powerful force and can become very dangerously the user if not handled carefully. Though, the uses for it in the hands of a master are limitless. I was not aware that you lacked access to it. I could have sworn I sensed its presence among you and your soldiers. I still feel it in fact. Have you never known of the power hidden inside yourselves? I'm sorry if I accidentally offend you, but I can hardly believe you made this obviously strong empire without ever tapping into your most powerful abilities. I can feel it within you, can you not do the same?"
Rhe'deri smiled as he listened to the Imperator of the New Roman fleet. The translator ring was working well, the words being understood clearly. He stepped forward before responding. "It is a pleasure to meet you Imperator Columba. As I said before, we hope we can develop good relations with your empire. I personally have lived through many wars that were caused by a misunderstanding between nations at contact. They always seem the worst when you know they could easily have been avoided. When we overheard some of your transmissions it seemed as you were dealing with a conflict of some sort. I must admit, we were expecting hostilities at first due to this. I'm glad this was not the case. If you would accept it, I would like to present to you a gift both as a sign of good will and to commemorate this sucessful first contact." At this Rhe'deri's right hand began to flow slightly before he raised it up and snapped two fingers together. After a sudden bright flash, a short dagger appeared, it's blade made of a shining black metal and sharpened to a fine edge. The handle was covered in a fine purple cloth and was made in a slight curve. The whole thing was engraved with symbols of the moon and formed in a way that made it as much a work of art as it was a dangerous weapon. Rhe'deri grabbed the floating dagger by the blade and held it out for the Imperator to hold. "Lunar Steel, a very strong material. That blade will cut through just about anything with no problems. I hope you don't find a need for it in combat, but it was made by a favorite blacksmith of mine and should serve you well. May it symbolize the strength of this bond we have formed between us."
Immortal General Rhe'deri Peltis received the translation matrix and immediately set to work on translating the New Roman language completely. A message was sent to the bridge to compile another matrix to allow the New Romans to translate the Roa'marii language. Meanwhile, preparations were made for the meeting aboard the New Roman ship. "Send the matrix to them as soon as it's finished. I want my ring updated with their language before we leave. Make it quick, we don't want to keep our new friends waiting." In a matter of minutes, the ship was ready, a small troop transport was launched carrying the Immortal General along with 6 soldiers working as an honor guard. Three of these soldiers bore the rough features common among the 42nd legion's elite soldiers while the other three were far nicer in appearance. These three were members of Rhe'deri's own 96th legion, known for its ambassadorial skills as well as the talented assassins among its ranks. The transport flew in slowly before landing within the open hanger of the New Roman ship. With a slight hiss, the transport opened and released the seven Roa'marii ambassadors to meet with the men in charge of the New Roman fleet. "Hello friends," Peltis spoke, perfect Latin being heard by those listening while his lips betrayed words completely foreign. His ring glowed slightly as he spoke. "I am General Rhe'deri Peltis of the United New Roa'marii Empire. A translation matrix is being sent as per your request, while my translator ring works in the meantime. I hope to initiate peaceful relations between our empires. Who is in charge here?"
As the small expedition force arrived at the nearest source of the new alien transmissions, they found what appeared to be a frontier system still under development. A series of messages were quickly sent out as the fleet began to move into a defensive formation in case of attack. The messages stated "Unknown force, this is expedition fleet alpha of the United New Roa'marii Empire. We have received transmissions and wish for peaceful contact. We will, however, not hesitate to use force if required." The response came soon enough as the group of Xenos ships in the system quickly turned to face the expedition fleet along with sending a lightly encoded message. As the message was translated, two men stood on the bridge, both gazing at the xenos lines looking for a weakness.

"They are likely just a small garrison force. I'm sure we could take them out should it come to that. Sta'falia left us a few squads of Valkyrie to use should a fight break out." General Peltis observed as the larger man beside him listened. Immortal General Jer'rahd Kaisur stood tall, his heavily muscled form covered by a simple suit of black armor. His right gauntlet glowed with a faint green energy and the double bladed sword sheathed to his back similarly gave off a pale blue glow. Jer'rahd's face was covered in small scars, the largest running through his left eye down to the cheekbone. Jer'rahd's eyes both glowed ever so slightly, the right a natural green color and the left a blood red. He took a minute before responding.

"I know we can win this should it come to fighting, but we need to try a diplomatic approach first. You're the ambassador, I say you take one of those rings of yours once their language is translated more and go introduce us."

"It may not be so simple. From what we have, they are wary of us. Their formation clearly shows that much. I agree on the diplomatic approach. Very well, I'll go aboard their lead vessel as a sign of peace. Send these xenos a message saying so. We will be meeting "

A message was sent and before waiting for a response, the lead ship began to move forward, another moving to close the gap left by it. The ship stopped halfway between the two fleets and waited for the xenos response to their request. A friendly meeting was offered, a chance to forge an alliance between the two nations. Meanwhile, all eyes watched the enemy fleet, waiting for a sign to know whether this meant war or whether it meant diplomacy.
The Moonlight Castle stood atop the great Lunar Mountain, overlooking the capital city of Moonfall. The planet Arcadia was not a hospitable planet to those not born from its constant storms and long nights, but for the Roa'marii who populated it, Arcadia was the most holy planet in existence. The Moonlight Castle standing above the storms atop the tallest mountain the planet had to offer was the home of the gods, the Nightmare Emperor himself ruling from his iron throne, watching all those under his command. The halls of this castle were sacred, each civilian dreaming of walking through them, the moon's pale glow lighting the way as they came to a stop before the throne. Now, with the full moon shining through the glass ceiling, a single man in crimson robes knelt in a puddle of moonlight before the throne hidden in the shadows. Then, rising from his throne, the Nightmare Emperor rose, striding forth to stand before the kneeling man.

The Emperor's pitch black hair shone with the silver glow of the moon above, his skin shining as the moon shone on his pale face, perfectly sculpted. The Emperor wore a suit of black armor engraved all over with symbols of the past, reminders of past wars well fought, the seals of fallen nations commemorated eternally as the worthy adversaries they were. A cloak of dark blue cloth hung behind him as a black steel crown sat atop his head, a single purple gem embedded in the center. The Nightmare Emperor stared down at the man before him before a slight smirk showed on his face and he spoke.

"General Peltis, it is always good to see you once more. While your visits are always welcome, it seems you have some news for me."

"Yes emperor, I'm afraid my visit is not merely a social one. I have received news from the Kingdom of Val'rati near the galaxy's edge. They have picked up a number of transmissions recently from an as of yet unidentified nation. We were unable to fully translate their language, but it would seem they are in conflict with another group of similar power to their own. I've spoken to Jer'rahd already and if you will it we shall send a small fleet to attempt contact with one or both of these new nations."

The Nightmare Emperor spent a few seconds to contemplate this before responding. "This could be a good opportunity to open new trade routes. I want you and Jer'rahd to initiate first contact. Be prepared for hostilities. If they are engaged in some sort of conflict, you may well be mistaken for an enemy of theirs. Go now and rest from your journey. You will leave at first light to meet with Jer'rahd in Battlefleet Alpha."

"Thank you emperor."

Rhe'deri Peltis stood up and began walking back through the halls of the castle towards a set of rooms put aside for the five Immortal Generals like himself. The Emperor stood in the throne room before he raised his head to the moon, it's light gleaming on his face, the stars beyond hiding untold beings soon to be discovered.

Zadubadabu while it seems good so far the Immortal Gods and the Nightmare Emperor seem a bit overpowered, they need to be toned down a bit. Also is that avatar Celestia? Personally I prefer Luna.

I'll tone them down a bit. And yes, it is Celestia. I too prefer Luna, but this picture is just too great. It's a Warhammer 40K crossover, God Empress Celestia is the full version.
EDIT: I removed the advanced healing factor, but the immortals are still biologically immortal and far stronger than the normal Roa'marii. I don't think this will be too OP since there are only 7 of them and some other factions include those over the entire population.
