@Gunther

I am Icelandic so thats my native language but everyone is taught english in school
@Gunther Exactly it was a huge privilege learning how to read or fight back in those days. I read somewhere even peasant levies were rare since if they were fighting a war they weren't generating income by plowing fields etc so it would bleed their household economies dry if they took too many peasants with them on campaign.

I also write in MS Word before posting. Once I write the first draft which could take about 15 to 20 minutes, then I re-read it; removing grammatical errors, correcting spelling and making additions and subtractions to the text. It never fails I think of different words to say the same thing. Once the first editing is finished, I read it a third time and make additional changes. I've read posts six or seven times on occasion before making a post just because I want to get it just right. If anyone is interested take a look at Gunther's Grammar Guide to pick up some pointers. I'm also 62,000 words into a Sci-Fi novel I hope to publish one day.

I used to write a lot when I was younger but I'm starting to rust a lot now :o English is my second language so it was cool to be reminded on some of the basics again haha I couldn't help but to edit a lot of my intro post after reading that guide
@Zhaeth Welcome aboard. Just remember when it comes to military matters Renault is a hard man. Serving in two major wars have made him that way.

Hey thank you, I'm looking forward to posting tomorrow and playing with you guys =)

and of course. I left a lot to be wanted in his character since he's so young.

When it comes to military matters on the other hand, despite being young and rowdy he's a noble that's been military trained so he knows basic soldiering and chain of command etc.

Lyonel Waxley

Appearence:

Lyonel is a tall young boy with a fit body from years of paging and squiring as a ward to his lord. He wears his knightly armor everywhere he goes trying his best stand tall as the other soldiers that often surround him, despite most often being the youngest most inexperienced person in the group.

Title/Position/Alias:
Lord Lyonel Waxley, Knight of the vale, second in line of succession to heir Wickenden and House Waxley.

Age:
16

Bio/Personality:

Lyonel was born a middle child to Edmund Waxley in the port town of wickenden. As a child he had always been unruly and spoilt. He often took his status as lord for granted and fought the other kids. Something that regularly got him way over his head in trouble. He was lucky to be supported by his older more reasonable brother, Edmund Waxley 2nd of his name. He adored and respected his older brother to the point where he was the only one that could ever reign him in when he was being abusive or otherwise misbehaving.

Eventually he grew so abusive that one fateful night, a little after his eighth name day, Lyonel mortally wounded one of his fathers wards.
A House Shett lordling from Gulltown sent to foster with his family. The altercation happened shortly after the Shett boy had bested him in archery practice. According to witnesses Lyonel allegedly stole two real swords from the armory later that night and prompted the boy to fight him to the death.

The outrage of the murder led his father to plead his advisors as to what he was to do with his problematic son. It was not until months later that a large shipment of candles on it's way to the northen nobility had been stolen by smugglers that his father found opportunity.
The shipment was stolen from a port in Snakewood so he would persuade House Lynderly to take Lyonel as their ward and forgo the repayment.
Both to strengthen their alliance and to bring a semblance of peace to his own household.

Upon arriving to Snakewood, Lyonel quickly found out that House Lynderly's town was not the same playground he had been used to back home.
He was not entirely welcome in the castle and his brother was not there to protect him anymore.

What followed were many years of hard lessons and beatings as both page and squire to Terrance Lynderly, the heir of House Lynderly. Even though he was a lord he was never accepted by the Lynderly's or the other lordlings at the castle but instead left mostly to socialize with the older guardsmen, cooks and men on the docks.
As time went by he would spend near all his time outside after he finished his duties. Learning the hard way that he could not disrespect the other kids at the docks without being on the receiving end of a painful and disgraceful beating, or prank the guardsmen without being tied to a flagpole overnight.

With the patience of his foster parents, coupled with his persistent dream of being a true knight, he found his place within the town. Lyonel learned to point his reckless behavior in the right direction. To fight for the weak instead of abusing them. He learned to take his training as an honorable knight of the Vale seriously and temper his insolent behavior against those he considered lesser than him.

During early adolescence when serving as a squire Lyonel accompanied a detachment of household guards on a patrol to investigate rumors of a shipwreck at the fingers.
They would come to find pirates gathering wood for their damaged ship, and planned to ambush them while foraging.
Lyonel proved himself worthy in the coming fight by slaying one of the combatants that gravely wounded his lord. Then afterwards taking a leading role in the battle by rallying the soldiers in his lords absence and organizing them against a counterattack that came from the beachhead.

A year later he would be rewarded by house Landerly and Knighted when he came of age at 16. Lyonel was still too bold and fearless for his own good but he fit in well with the guards and other hard men. It was not uncommon for him to overstep his bounds and be taught his place but now at least he would accept his defeats or wins honorably.

Having come of age and successfully gone through the trials of Knighthood Lyonel knew he needed to find his own place in the world. Although he had been of service to house Lynderly they still never truly wanted him, thinking he was more trouble than he was worth. The same went for his own family whom he had disgraced greatly earlier in life. He also knew that there was danger of vengeance from house Shett if he stayed in the Vale.

Being so disgraced made him Lord mostly just in name. However Lyonel with the help of his older brother managed to convince Lord Renault Lashton to take him under his protection while things cooled down in the Vale. House Lashton ruled over Ash Falls. A castle town far enough from the Vale to let him rebuild his reputation.

Thoughts on the current situation of the realm:
Ecstatic to prove himself as a fighter and make a name for himself Lyonel has high hopes of serving honorably in the coming war.
