My power is out. The website for the power company says it won't be restored until 11:30pm. If that's true, there will probably be no IC replies today.

Bio

My timezone is Eastern Standard, in case you need to know that sort of thing. I am very much a nerd, I like videogames and comic books. If you just want to chill and chat with me about videogames and comics, I'm totally down for that. I am more knowledgeable about the DC universe, when it comes to Marvel I know very little. My favorite Superhero is Superman and my favorite Batman villain is Mister Freeze, but I pretty much love all characters in the DC universe. As for video games, I usually stick in the range of anything with a good story. I've played the whole BioShock series, some of the Final Fantasys, both Portal games, all three of the Batman Arkham series and a whole bunch more. Right now I'm working on completing Persona 3 and 4, and Dragon Age Inquisition.

Oh yeah, Bioshock and BioShock 2 are pretty creepy, since they take place in Rapture. I am completely in love with the idea of that underwater city though, and seeing what it looks like during its prime it's actually quite a beautiful place. BioShock: Infinite is less scary, it takes place outside of Rapture and is a brighter environment making it not as much of a scary game but it has a story that was really powerful and filled with so many plot twists that it just blew my mind after I was done with it.
Yeah, I just played my way through BioShock: Infinite and all of it's DLC. Since I finally got the time to get around to it, but man, I finished that game and I'm really happy I did, but at the same time it left me feeling really alone for some odd reason. Possibly due to how the game ended and how immersed I really got into the game. Anywho, enough about me talking about BioShock. I really hope you feel better, especially if you're on break it, it sucks being sick on break.

Got the thread up of our new roleplay! Sorry it took so long, I kind of got sucked up in a video game I've been trying to finish since I have the time to play it now.
There was a small bookshop that was placed between a gadget store and a clothing store. Actually, the bookshop was there before the gadget or the clothing store, but nobody really paid any mind until there were more localized businesses in the area. Rumors spread around that this bookshop was terrifying. Mysterious things happened there, people vanished, books flew off of shelves at random, and some people even say that book characters will come to life. Though, that only kept a few people away, there were still customers that came in daily. College students found the bookstore great for cheap textbooks, and others took advantage of being able to order any books that weren’t held at the shop for a cheap price.

The bookstore wasn’t all that big, and it was actually quite cramped when walking through the bookshelves. There was only a wide enough space in between the shelves to allow one person to slip through. The portion that wasn’t so cramped was the area next to the large window that allowed anyone to peek inside the bookstore. The window also had the name of the bookshop, ‘Black’s Books’ written on it in golden letters. There was a table placed in front of the window that displayed the new books that had just come in, along with a few signs for sales that were going on within the shop. Next to the table were two very comfortable chairs where people could sit and enjoy a book for a while, if they could handle the atmosphere of the shop.

The owner of the bookstore, Benjamin Black, wasn’t exactly a normal person. As far as everyone that walked into the shop was concerned, he was actually quite odd. The man didn’t seem to make friends with anyone and almost seemed to discourage people from walking into the bookstore in the first place. The tall, lanky man sat behind the counter everyday from open to close. The only time he moved was to kick out people who were being too noisy or to organize the bookshelves and clean up the shop a bit. Otherwise, the man was behind the counter reading his books, only getting up when it was closing time to lock the doors, turn the lights off, and head up the stairs behind the counter that lead to a two bedroom apartment ant Benjamin had all to himself.

Benjamin wasn't much of a happy person, actually he had a habit of glaring at almost everyone at least once during the day. He was doing just that. In front of his face was one of the books from the shop that he was in the middle of reading, but his sharp, green eyes weren't even on the page anymore. Instead, his eyes were on a customer that was wandering around the shop. It wasn't like the customer was actually doing anything to deserve to be glared at, nor did the customer even notice that they had attracted some unwanted attention. It wasn't like Benjamin even meant to be glaring at the customer, the man was just there to buy a book that he obviously wanted to find all on his own. It was more like Benjamin just had this tendency to glare at people when he was in deep thought.

"Sir?" A young voice came from behind the book.

Benjamin quickly came back to the real world and looked back at his book. He sat the book down and was met with a young child placing a picture book on the counter. Benjamin looked around for the parent for this child and noticed one trailing behind, not paying much attention to the child up front. "Sir, can I buy this book?" The young girl asked. The store owner looked at the small picture book and then glanced at the back of the book for the price. He wasn't really sure this child even had money on her, but he didn't really care if she did or not. it wasn't an expensive book and it wasn't like he couldn't just pay for the book himself. He did get enough money coming in from the college text books he sold cheap, and from his regular customers that came in every week to see if there's anything good to read.

"Here, why don't you just take it?" Benjamin slid the book back to the young girl, "But, only this one. All the others you have to pay for." The young girl grinned and nodded as she skipped back over to her mother with her new book. Explaining how she didn't have to pay for it at all. The store owner ran a hand through his shaggy black hair that was probably just getting a bit too long as it was starting to get into his eyes. He looked around the small quiet shop, seeing if there was anything wrong with the place. Most of the space was taken up by shelves that had such a particular organization to it so everyone could find what they were looking for rather easily. Benjamin hated it when someone messed with his organization, for many reasons but his main reason was finding the books easily himself.

Once the doctor was gone, Annie sat down across from Aiden and grinned at him. "So, why did you give him your sweatshirt last night? That's not really something I've ever seen you do. Or even make friends with anyone on your own," Annie finally asked as Aiden started to eat what was in front of him. He thought about it quite a bit himself, he wasn't really sure why he had offered to give away his sweatshirt, that wasn't really like him. He wasn't the sort of person that would do that on a regular basis. He found it odd that he even had done that, possibly because it was the first time that someone hadn't been put off by the way he acted. Possibly, it was because he admittedly did think the guy was pretty good looking and thought that there might be a small chance that he could get to know this guy a bit better. He wasn't sure about what he had thought at that moment other than, 'that guy needs a jacket'.

"I don't know, he was nice and I guess I was too tired to think things through correctly," Aiden shrugged. "Plus, he didn't mind that I sort of corrected him on something he said."

"You corrected him on something he said?" Annie questioned, "Aiden, you really need to stop doing that sort of thing."

"I know, I know, but I was tired and I really like talking about science," Aiden groaned.

"Yeah, just as much as you like talking about those superhero comics you read, or those video games you play on your time off," Annie rolled her eyes, "The bigger question here, is if you like him or not and if he likes you or not. Because, you getting a boyfriend would make my job a whole lot easier, someone else could take over worrying about your health and mental state."
Alright! So where should we start with this? Do you want to start right at the beginning of things, or after your character had been hired and some strange stuff happens?

And yes, the guild is having trouble loading for me too. It seems to happen to me during the afternoons and early into the morning...
Or both! He could be both. Yeah, I really like the idea of the other character being a private detective and him having even personal matters in the case would be better. Since, it just means that he wouldn't be too happy with my character at first. I do want to make my character a magician (which isn't really going to be a secret, like the first time this guy sees something weird go on, my character would probably use magic in front of him.) which would just make thing a lot more fun. I could even see it being where my character might be from some other magical law enforcement that isn't exactly known to the government, so that would mean even more fun in the future.
I want to be the bookstore owner. We might also want to flesh out this to either have a plot, or figure out some situations to put them through.
Aiden was tempted to lay his head down on the table while his friend was buying food, but he wasn't excited to end up with someone walking over concerned about him sleeping at the lunch tables. He just settled for leaning forward and staring at the blank wall, while Annie was in line getting him lunch. They already had the argument about who was going to pay, but she insisted and he was too tired to argue with her too much. He had removed his white lab coat, and placed it on the back of his chair, just to keep it from getting stained by the food or something. He was a little worried about the coat dragging on the floor a bit due to it being a long coat. Though, that's usually how all the technicians handled their uniforms and for the most part they stayed clean. It was easier than having to deal with food stains on a white coat that day, or having to quick exchange it for a new one.

The lab tech perked up when he heard a familiar voice, one he really was not expecting at that exact moment. He turned to where he heard the voice come from and gave a light smile. "Yeah, but she insisted on buying me lunch this time," Aiden answered the doctor's question.

As he had said those words, the young woman walked over to the table and sat down a tray of food in front of Aiden. "Alright, Aid, time to eat. We're not going back to work until you finish all of this and drink the energy drink," Annie then noticed the other man standing next to Aiden. She barely recognized the man, she might have seen his picture somewhere, but she did recognize the sweatshirt in his arm. "Hey, that's..." She looked back over at Aiden with a grin on her face, "You little sneak. What have you not been telling me about?"

"Nothing," Aiden muttered, "I just loaned him my sweatshirt last night. He didn't have a jacket or anything."

"Oh, really? So you just let him borrow your only sweater so you'd be cold," Annie put her hands on her hips. "Hey, I'm just happy you picked someone cute and successful."

"Annie..." Aiden groaned keeping his head down, as his face grew even more red.

"Anyway, if you want to join us while Aiden takes his lunch break, you are more than welcome," Annie invited, with a smile on her face.
