Because current humanity can construct a gigaton-level nuclear weapon if it wanted to. Granted, it would be enormous, but it could be done. A civilization that could traverse between planetary systems and star systems in a reasonable amount of time is to be assumed to have access to weapons systems and power generation apparatuses of such daunting, awesome power that, to us, it would be considered nigh-magical. I guess you could say that an entirely peaceful species could achieve interstellar travel, but they could just hose you with the exhaust of their fusion-based or antimatter-based engines and more or less render whatever armor and/or shielding that you're using null and void. Placing an FTL drive on an inert object like an asteroid or a giant piece of metal turns it into a moon-shattering relativistic kill vehicle.

FTL tends not to be literally FTL in many space settings so I don't see the problem. Often which it just means you press a button that warps some space and pretend light light speed barrier doesn't exist until you pop back in real space somewhere you want to be.

Drop the longing to make humans juggernauts in the RP and simply go with the idea that every faction is more or less capable of great destruction. Unless you have someone in this RP trying to waltz in here with cannons that fire singularities and starship armor comprised of pure neutron star matter, everyone is more or less going to be on the same playing field.Once a civilization achieves FTL technology and has the ability to traverse planetary systems with relative simplicity, you're looking at a species that can throw around firepower in excess of the teraton range.War with care is all I say.

why assume FTL means actual movement? What if the FTL doesn't even move anything at all in terms of activation? (Speed I. FTL not correlating to speed in Real space) Sure it's still a nice way to deliver a warhead super quick in theory (I find it amusing how in a RP with honorable warrior races there's also space bound bomb everything from orbit folks like you or me), but why the teraton talk?

Actually, scientists agree if there is alien life they would likely look very much like humans. Unless their planet is drastically different. In any case, I decided to make a carbon based life form so sue me. Also, I don't have to -nor want to- cater anything to your liking. So there is that too.

I stopped caring about that after GM implied they were okay.

If you want to talk on what's actually feasible for a intelligent alien species a seperate topic is required. Needless to say in any RP, even a "Sci-fi" I keep forgetting that what it comes down to is what someone wants to be over anything else.
I don't wanna Change it

I'm more talking about, say, Vulcan in terms of appearance. Humans with no changes except pointy ears.

In that case consider what I said earlier void.
Isn't one of the policies not making aliens that look so much like humans though?

3. Biodiversity is key. It's not terribly likely that you'll will get near-humans unless they're in an environment extremely similar to Earth. Even then, the chance is still quite low. I'm fine with humanoids and bipeds, but I would prefer to stay away from pointy-eared humans unless there is a good reason. On that note, I'm perfectly alright with strange biology, as long as it makes sense. Aliens don't necessarily have to be carbon-based, although that will likely be more prevalent.

In fairness, maybe it's just a discrepancy in the image and the description as they sound more alien in their description than the pictures linked.

Yes, but why do avians have na'vi-like faces?
Bird people all female and of course look like people.

C'mon. Why not have a all-female race of space squid things or some radially symmetrical thing with 6 limbs and a short stature?

Also there's this crude "map" that's really meant to point locations and is not official:

Hope to see the human factions soon. Too many Xenos is bad for business, especially since I got a xeno too due to not really knowing what sort of human civ to make. But may my sugar cubes make fun contact for the other aliens be it bugs or slugs
