"Ethics (also moral philosophy) is the branch of philosophy that involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong conduct."

I was going to moan about the pictures, but they match the rwby style perfectly, and they're at least comprehensive, so they'll be fine. Other than that, I give my tentative 5am approval. Id like to see more in 'out of combat skills'. I really intended it to be a broad category for putting outside-job interests and pursuits.
Oh yeah, I knew there was something I was missing. Btw, I've been forum rping for a while, despite appearances I know what I'm doing, I promise.
OOC stuff, waiting for characters to start getting posted before plot gets decided.

Interest check is here: roleplayerguild.com/topics/86220-rwby-..

The broad setting is Vale, the year the show's protagonists enroll in Beacon. PCs will be relatively recent graduates from Beacon Academy, assigned on a team together initially to perform a dangerous mission for the Hunter Corps outside the walls of the capital city. I encourage PCs have histories with each other, but they are by no means necessary.

The tone will be more somewhat more serious than the show, so make characters accordingly. That does not, however, mean levity is not desired or forbidden, so feel free to indulge. Please remember that characters are meant to be fun for both the person controlling them and their fellow RPers, and try to keep things sensible and fun. Other than that, go nuts and have a good time. Make something memorable, and we'll have a great game.

Characters should be posted here in the OOC before being moved to the Characters tab, for review by me. Other than that, the OOC is for shooting the shit, having a good time, and discussing the game. Feel free to post questions or suggestions, I'm happy to hear them.

Good to see there is some interest.

Spoo, the plot is still nascent, as I was going to base a large amount of it off what characters get made, try to tie our group in tight to the plot ASAP. The idea I was most in favor of was a large mercenary group hired and directed by some yet-unseen force to conquer or cripple Vale, for reasons that would be revealed piecemeal. Twists would happen, and the focus would expand gradually as the threats multiply and spread.

The PCs would be working together as a fairly autonomous team, directed by the command staff of the Hunter Corps. You'd be working closely with the expanding military or other Hunters and combating Grimm or insurgents in a variety of situations as the plot dictates. In this plot, creative thinking, strategic acumen and leadership capabilities would play a large role for the main characters, and each member of the party would have a large amount of responsibility for their own actions.

EDIT: Zombehs, I have no idea what that is, and my google-fu is insufficient to find it. If you think I should see it, throw me a link. got it. I haven't read it. I very, very rarely read fanfiction, only when I find something truly exceptional. I think the count so far is 4, but I may be forgetting one.

Oh, and also, because we're out of the restraints of a school setting, teams can be of variable size, and I can accommodate as many people as I want to. However, I would prefer to keep the number below 6 for the time being, with the opportunity of adding players in later. If we get too many applicants characters, we'll see what happens I guess.

EDIT Edit: I feel obligated to continue the color naming convention thing, but somehow I do not see the military forcing their teams to spell out goofy phonetic things, so that is a plus. Feel free to name your characters whatever you want without fear of accidentally having something like Team XZVB, "KssZeeViBuu"

C-C-C-Combo Edit: I need to go do ill-advised things at a frat party, here's the OOC, post characters and get to know each other: roleplayerguild.com/topics/86229-rwby-..
Good to hear. Students are lame, and every game runs the same way. I figure, why not turn shit up to 11, let you really go hard with the magical powers, and make things a lot more consequential.

School games always bother me because the plot usually needs some big threat that the players have to deal with, but all I can think of is 'well, there are hundreds or thousands of more qualified people who could handle this shit in an afternoon'. Takes some of the pressure off, at least for me.
I've always thought the setting for RWBY is really good. Unfortunately for me, that is about the only thing about the writing that I think is good. So, I figured I'd run a PbP of it and fix it just the way I want it, hopefully adding something unique to the formula that people can enjoy.

So, the game: School settings are boring. So, I figure you [the PCs] will be recent graduates from Beacon, fully fledged and highly talented hunters and huntresses. You'll be working with much greater independence, with a much wider variety of responsibilities and capabilities, facing the real threats that endanger civilization.

Grimm will actually be a threat. The regular military will play a much bigger role. Enemies will be crafty and dangerous. Death will be a looming specter, and actions will have real consequences.
As long as it is not a school setting, I'd be happy to play.
