Writing is like a workout muscle. If you haven't written in a while, it hurts at first, but when you're done, the endorphins come rushing in and you forget why you ever stopped.

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

Pyramid of Giza, Throne Room

@WhiteAngel25, @Days, @Lexisheeps

The mummy - Boris - was indeed traveling towards Sabrina, Thierry, Auri, and Cosy at an encroaching speed, a strange purple light in its eyes, a moan escaping its lips.

Before a large phantom hand appeared, holding a pharaoh's cane, and pulled the mummy aside as the group approached the Throne Room. There was a gentle tutting, as if chiding a child, the sound shaking the walls with its power.

“'Ayuha alkhadimu, daehum yataqadamuu. Nahnu...nantaziruhum. (Servant, let them come forward. We are… expecting them.)

The statue floated up and to the side, before it landed in a pair of glowing, ethereal hands.

Sitting on the gold and gilded throne was none other than the king of the gods, the pharaoh of pharaohs - Amun-Ra. He wore a traditional pharaoh’s headdress, his form ethereal in nature - not entirely solid. In the seat of his headdress was an orb. But instead of its depictions of it being a red color, it was a deep and swirling purple.

Standing on either side of the god-king were two figures, ethereal and glowing. The one on the right wore white robes and had an unnatural blue tone to his skin - Osiris. The one on the left had elegant, flowing wings, and her eyes were focused entirely on Sabrina. Yes, none other than the godess of magic, patron to magicians, and wife of Orisis was present - Iris. In her hands was the statue.

“Yastaghriq al'amr wqtan twylaan li'iitharat antibahina, 'ayuha albashar alsaghari. 'Aynama wajadat hadha altaewidhat liasil 'iilayna, fa'ana maftun lilghaya… (It takes quite a bit to stir our attention, young mortals. Wherever you found that talisman to reach us, I am most intrigued…) Amun-Ra said, his voice reverberating through their ribcages, shaking their very skull. His eyes were on the statue in Iris’ hands.

Iris turned to Sabrina, a soft smile on her face. “Laqad samiet surakhak 'ayuha albashari. watadhiatuk bidumik maqbulatun. Sa'adman alsamah lak walieayilatik bialkhuruj alamin... Biastithna' al'ashkhas almaweudina. (I have heard your cries, mortal. And your blood sacrifice is accepted. I will ensure you and your family are allowed safe passage out… except for the ones promised.)”

Iris turned to her husband. “'Uwzuris, 'azhir lahum ma 'uety lina… (Osiris, show them what we have been given…)

Osiris nodded, and with a wave of his hand, the entire throne room dimmed as the white silhouetted bodies of spirits freshly sacrificed filled the hall.

“Tadhiat tastahiqu alnufus limal' mamlakati. Wayatlubun alqalil fi almuqabili… (A worthy sacrifice, souls to fill my kingdom. They ask for so little in return…) Osiris spoke, his own voice muted compared to the god-pharaoh but still holding its own power.

At once, the spirits disappeared, and the light returned to the room. Amun-Ra waved his hand, and the ground shook. In front of Sabrina, two tombs rose up from the ground, covered in hieroglyphs. If she were to read it, one would say ‘Cosette’, while the other would read ‘Aurélie.’

“Dae almukhtarin fi quburihim, wa'uwdiehum eindina. ll'abdi. (Place the chosen ones in their tombs, and entrust them with us. Forever.)”

The gods and goddess spoke in unision, their voices causing dust to fall from the ceiling. The air was thick with MAGIC, making it hard to refuse their demands. Like Sabrina, Theirry and the kids weren’t in full command of themselves.

Boris and his friends - more mummies - approached Cosy and Auri, gripping their wrists with an iron grip, dragging them slowly towards the tombs.

Thierry would notice the two keyholes on the circular puzzle door behind the ethereal figures. He would also notice the orb in Amun-Ra’s headdress pulsing with power. A source of power?

Pyramid of Giza, Gem Artifact Room

@Days

As Theo knelt in front of the gem, there would be a reverberation in the room. Ominously, there was the sound of grinding stone, and a flash of light. In an instant, the key was gone from the gem, and in Theo’s hand. And in front of him, the front wall slid down, revealing an enormous boulder. Free from its enclosure, it began to slowly roll forward on the slightly tilted forward -rolling towards Theo, and picking up the pace. If Theo didn’t move, he’d be rolled flat.
Duly noted!
@Silver Carrot, @Wayward, how are your posts coming along? :)
Yesss, Ciara really can't help herself. xD

Kipnu Riil

Bahlok Riil

(Luna’s Perspective)

Kari's House, Outside the Ice Fortress
Interactions: Everyone inside the ice fortress

Luna saw the volley of orbs falling on them before they hit. Alas, she was too slow to move, and it was a direct hit. There were screams. The smell of burnt flesh mixing with acrid rain. And when Luna opened her eyes, Aislin and Layla were on the ground, clothes fused to their skin, charred, red, and painful. Covered head to toe in burns.

Luna clicked her tongue, then shifted her gaze to her armour. Cracked, but no worse for wear. It had protected her from the worst of the burns. She was the only one who remained unscathed.

She watched as Layla’s ghost materialized, scooping the little girl into his lap. She wrinkled her nose at that, but ignored it, focusing on Aislin.

Shit. Hey, heyyyy… You okay?” She said, rolling Aislin over with an armored hand so Aislin was on her back.

Aislin softly whimpered, tears in her eyes as her face scrunched up reflexively. She tried to speak, but all that came out was a gurgled, weak mash of syllables. Luna clicked her tongue. She’d seen worse: a man cut with his entrails spilling out of his gut. But this… this was hard to see, too.

Luna’s gaze shifted to Layla, then to her masked ghost. “How’s she?”

“She’s passed out, but she’ll live.” Kipnu said, his voice disinterested.

Luna stared at him flatly. “Really?”

“Hm?”

Luna shook her head, eyes on the portal in the sky. Not her business.

The undead were just pouring out, falling to the ground and spilling out in all directions. Some were headed in their direction. That meant they had to move fast. Luna considered her options, cursed under her breath, and stared hard at the ghost.

“I need another favour.”

“That’s going to be another soul.”

Luna snarled. “If you don’t help me, Layla might not make it out of this alive.”

“I can whisk her, and you away, if you beg me.” There was a deep chuckle in Kipnu’s voice as he spoke.

Luna glared. “Fine, fine! Another soul. But you have to listen to me, no questions asked.”

Kipnu’s masked lenses gleamed. “I wouldn’t dream of it.”

Luna sighed a bit, before she dropped her gaze to Aislin. “Hey… I know you don’t like me, but I need your help. I have an idea…”

From where Aislin lay, her hand connected with the earth. Teeth gritted through the rain and the pain, she pulled away at the earth, creating a tunnel underneath the ice palace, allowing Luna a way inside. The moment it was completed, Kipnu took both Layla and Aislin through Smoke’s Crossing, removing them from the battlefield.

That left only Bahlok with Luna, who appeared resentful and not at all interested in being there. She turned her attention to the tunnel, whistled, and ten hellhounds, growling with their teeth bared, stormed the ice palace. Bahlok jerked with her chin, and Luna and her followed after the hellhounds through the tunnel, Luna with a white broadsword in each hand, Bahlok with her Eldritch Appendage bared and ready.

“You all bitches are done!” Luna yelled as they advanced inside.

”As long as I get to spear someone!” Bahlok said with an eye roll.

Ciara Ventura

Wingram, Forest
@Nanaya, @Psyker Landshark

This is as good an opportunity as any to secure an advantage.

Ciara blinked, stunned, as she watched the door with the dark one disappear. An advantage? For what?

That’s when her face turned slowly towards Iraleth, and trepidation entered her system. The dark one had to mean Iraleth, right? They were fated to duel in just a handful of hours, were they not?

Her hand gripped the sword tighter.

Iraleth’s back was turned to her, wholly focused on the shadowy Beast. Now would be an opportune moment as any other to strike her down. Forget the duel. Forget a fair fight. Just end her troubles right here and now. Safer that way. She might actually lose a fair fight.

She took a step forward.

Better just to end all her problems right here and now.

The Voices in her head were silent, bated breath.

But before Ciara could act on her dark impulses, the shadowy thing spoke. It had separated partially from the wolf and was looking directly at her.

"It truly is a shame to be assaulted by a fellow sufferer, and for that sufferer to unite with the worshiper of a false deity,"

Ciara’s dark amber eyes narrowed, and she lowered her sword hand slightly. Fellow sufferer? What was this dark being going on about? What did it know?

Her eyes glanced at Iraleth. United, huh? She stared silently before turning her eyes back to the small being.

"I have been vanquished, great heroes! You may now proceed to take me to your leader, or whatever else your protocol is around here. I invoke my prisoner rights and safeties!"

Ciara stared a moment longer, ideas forming in her mind. She immediately stood a bit straighter, and teleported in a gust of wind, appearing in between the little shadow being and Iraleth. Her stare was cold, looking at Iraleth over Otis’ raised sword. She only spared a slight glance to the shadow being, reaching out towards it with an arm.

“Attach to me, we need to talk. In private. She spoke low to the being, the tone in her voice giving little in the way of negotiation.

Her eyes snapped fully back to Iraleth, teeth bared. “Don’t try and stop me.”

Sounds great!
Okay Qia, thank you for the heads up. Enjoy the celebrations!
