One of the stupidest things in media is when vital information must be given, and characters waste time going: "Listen! If you'd just listen! You don't understand!" Instead of just spewing it forth.

Jaclyn's attention was brought properly back to her group as Perry asked to be filled in on the blanks here.
Jaclyn's eyes shifted to Max then to Mira as he gestured for her to begin.

So now I have reality rifts to worry about, she thought to the beginning of Mira's explanation. Although she thought this in more of a matter-of-fact way with unease aside. Fuller emotions on the subject might come later, both because that was the way Jaclyn sometimes worked, and because the oddities they tended to have to deal with, even a mutant brain needed time to catch up and process.

Her brows raised at the fact of Klara being Thor's daughter, and furrowed at Runa being Goddess of Lies. That didn't sound good, but then again, some things that seemed obvious were in fact open for interpretation. Like a beast deemed a doom-bringer because accidents followed the sighting of it, in fact being a savior as it was coming as a warning. A Goddess of Lies could, then, by the same logic, in fact be a force to find truth.

On the mention of Mira being among those who didn't get to go to Asgard, a conversation came into Jaclyn's mind; for another time.

The supposing Runa was here to see Lance had something vaguely click in Jaclyn's mind, though she couldn't place anything exact.
Then, Mira's concluding point was sound: they would hear about it if it was anything important. That was leaning Jaclyn a little more back the other way.

Max's turn filling in the blanks came next.

The way he summarized everything hit Jaclyn's ears like a storyteller; she could practically see and feel the details.

A particularly intriguing one was how everyone had likely been a part of a manufactured reality, yet wouldn't have known it. This was something for Jaclyn to set aside in a part of her mind to reflect on later. She wondered, too, how Max knew of Runa's destiny, and his words supported Jaclyn's thinking on "Goddess of Lies".

She also wondered about Max's best friend.

The poetry of Goddess of "love and oceans", a confirmation of Mira's info, hit Jaclyn in a way that elicited a soft smile. Which quickly gave way into a look of surprise and confusion with the way Max's explanation blended together. Glitter in a resistance against Magneto?
Jaclyn appreciated Max's giving Klara the benefit of the doubt rather than judging her solidly, under the circumstances.

Then another new concern to add to the list -after reality rift: "the veil".
Limbo sounded like the most intense scenario that had been recounted to Jaclyn yet.

It made her feel great sympathy for this Klara she had yet to meet, and a fuller understanding of those she already knew.

Her little emotional rollercoaster wasn't complete, however, until Max added to the supposition of why the Asgardians were here with the little bit about maybe killing Lance.
Why would he suppose so?

Curiosity still existed in Jaclyn, yet Clue was sounding more appealing after all that; a breather by which to assist in the digestion of everything, and probably a good thing to grab before something else occurred. One thing was clear between Mira and Max's information: things occurred where Klara was concerned. Pretty big things.
Not unlike with the XMen, so all the more reason.

Conversely. . .well. It was hard to put into words. She felt like she'd like to know these people, but it didn't feel like it would be a natural time.

"I think we should give them some space." She landed on, a moment later. "That call to Lance seemed pretty important, though maybe that's an Asgardian way. In any case, I don't think we should crowd in and distract from their coming." This was stated in a neutrally thoughtful tone; not like she was judging anyone who might've wanted to follow their curiosity.

She then looked down the hall where the focused one had gone, added: "the one who came through here did seem pretty dead set on not acknowledging us. Which one was that?" She returned her eyes to the group.
Welcome (back), Shadrack'Nor!
Wicked cool picture. Erupting tesseract?

collaborative storytelling that pushes the boundaries of what's possible.

: D Sounds good to me!
I enjoy pushing boundaries in terms of flowing off from the mainstream. Though it may not look like it from the surface.

Jaclyn grinned at the enthusiasm of Perry and -especially- Max!
This was going to be a blast and already fell into the good category of learning new things given some of the things Max rambled off.

She had just enough time to respond curiously to Mira with an "Oh, okay." before a
booming
-and undoubtedly medieval sounding- voice shook out for Lance.

Jaclyn's mouth was on only the cusp of forming a verbal reaction when Max started off again.
Here we go again, the mention of a different Runa "way off into the future" prompted her to think to herself, though Max's behaviour didn't fail to elicit another smile. It was hard to tell with him though if this "Runa" was to be a good encounter or not so much. . .already she'd already down a minor number on the eardrums around here.

Compelled by curiosity, Jaclyn was poised to follow when Mira spoke up. What she recounted and how Max responded pretty much served to heighten the feelings Jaclyn had just had, she kept her paused as she started on own thinking. Namely if she should stay out of the way of this one, or--

--just then, a woman who she assumed to be Runa came into view, passing them by without an ounce of acknowledgement, and followed by some peculiar, captivating orb -which Jaclyn shifted away from out of reflex even as she followed it with her eyes.

She glanced back at Max as he brought up "Danger Room Clue" again, but now Jaclyn's interest was divided. That kind of activity still -more or less now- sounded appealing, yet her curiosity was already down the hall. On the other hand, a stranger just following someone to see where they were going was not the thing to do. Though, this "someone" was technically in Jaclyn's "house", and heading to speak to a kind-of-family-member. Though she was obviously focused -seemingly hyper focused- on speaking with Lance exclusively. Yet announcing this in a booming voice did leave privacy a matter up for debate.

Magneto looked around having heard -and seen out of the corner of his eye- the gathered mutants reacting to something negative.

His attention returned to the one in front of him. This child had just done something.
This bothered him. Though -his citizens already recovering- also intrigued him.

Her threat hit him likewise, and though his eyes held warning, his lips turned up; he wasn't about to be intimidated by this urchin.
Magneto gave a certain look to two mutants whose buttons were more easily pushed; they stood down.

"Explain why I allowed you passage here instead of leaving you to search endlessly for your injured, whom I saved from near-certain death? This is the ungrateful generation, isn't it. And you will not be destroying this," now his expression, and tone, was dead serious. Though held no combative edge, as yet; the X-Men's longest-standing foe actually wasn't looking to fight. "This is a sanctuary, child. Those robotic extensions of the human's simple impulses," -his eyes turned skywards as he referenced the sentinels; though none could be seen- "patrol in search of this place. If you prefer to return to the mercy of their radar, by all means. You'll find your pilot recovered in remarkably short time, though it will still take some. If I can trust you won't harm the citizens of Genosha, you may wait for him where you like."

With that Magneto gave a half-turn, and stood as though he were a living marker of a crossroads.
Ryder could walk past him towards the city proper, if she liked,

--most of the other mutants had already started walking away, one looking like they thought they were taking their chances in doing so.
The more defensive two doing so gradually, as if undecided if they should -or wanted to- stay or go--

or Ryder could stay right where she was.

Of course there was always the third option. . .Magneto's steely eyes conveying his readiness should she make that mistake.

Jaclyn had to smile at Perry's enthusiastic consideration of Mira's aversion. Besides the mood boosting, what Perry planned had been a nice way to get to know her a little bit too, and Jaclyn definitely counted it as a positive to be sharing a team with her. As for her present suggestions, Jaclyn wasn't sure of the bonfire. Even though it was an entirely different thing, it made her think of the fire she'd lit for the lost. . .

Hilariously bad movies and "all that" sounded like a good idea, though. She was just wondering what movies might come out of that when Max made his suggestion.

Something in the Danger Room sounded like a plan already, as that was one of the destinations Jaclyn had been considering heading to before she heard Perry's proclamation of boredom-- a virtual Clue sounded a treat!

At this, Jaclyn turned to Mira, however, who began to explain the reason for her being turned off of board games.
On her first sentence, Jaclyn had to smile. She had seen Jumanji and certainly wouldn't want to play that game for real-- in fact, most games sort of "came to life" after that as Holo applied "Jumanji logic" to others when they played, but that had all been in good fun. Besides, her sister's projections held no mass and couldn't harm.

'Oh, so that's what-' Jaclyn was beginning to think with relief, before the rest of Mira's explanation. . .
So it was something else crazy to learn about.

Somehow, though, something like right out of a movie sounded like a tame kind of crazy, relatively speaking.
That movie, anyway.

The last time things were kind of calm around here... Jaclyn wondered the last time since when?

It was good Mira jumped on Max's idea as well. Her spoken curiosity working to shift Jaclyn's attention back to now.
"Well, it would still be training for our minds," she pointed out positively, "and there's a lot to be taken from fun anyway. Besides," she turned her hand over in a sort of shrug, a very slight laugh coming into her words -not at Mira, just the prospect, "it's not as though the computer's sentient. We're the drivers, so it'll take to it just the same."

Simple as that.

Jaclyn had to smile at Max's joke- and subsequent one. She returned his wave as her smile shifted into a more thoughtful look; about to ask Max how was his family when Mira appeared on the scene.

"Oh, what happened?" Jaclyn came to ask instead, regarding Mira's comment about being turned off of board games.
She hoped the answer wouldn't be something else crazy to learn about.

You get used to life not being "normal" when you're a mutant.
Jaclyn didn't think she'd ever get used to exactly what that tended to mean.

Rather, what it tended to mean when you were a mutant involved with the X-Men. Insanity in space for one. . .and all that on her first mission.

As Jaclyn's mind was wont to do, a part of it kept attention on the conversation in front of her while another part wandered to other thoughts. In this case, to Marygold. Was it a certain something that had both to do with the cosmos and the the X-Men that had her seemingly absent?

He could just make out some of the words behind the wood. A part of him asked 'What must it be like for her?' while another part of him knew only too well what it was like to feel like something was missing. His life contained many blank slides after his accident as a boy. It took years before all the pieces had been filled in.

Oh God. . .Was that what they were looking at?

Lost in his own thoughts, or maybe wanting the encounter, Scott didn't step away when he heard Xavier's voice a little louder.
An indication that he was speaking to Jean from a point further away; that she was exiting.

Wanting the encounter but not knowing what to say-- just like he hadn't known how to say who he was to her once they'd learned of her amnesia;
hence Xavier having been the one to do so.

Presently he was gratified to see her smile at him, yet such an expression wouldn't quite follow through on Scott's face.
After all, her smile wasn't to him. It was the kind she'd give to a -well, you know.

"Uh... I have something to discuss with the Professor." At this he actually looked past her into the room before stepping aside so as not to keep blocking her way.
'Come on, talk to her.' He commanded himself, managing to speak up again before the moment was gone:

"...I take it things aren't any clearer? In-in general, I mean."

Though his eyes remained unseen behind his protective ruby quartz lenses, a shift of his head made a brief shift in gaze apparent-- this time not anywhere in particular though, having set his attention on her properly. Standing now with his one wrist held in his opposite hand down in front of himself.

"All I'm able to discern is somewhere out in the Atlantic, they both simply vanished." Xavier delivered these words as he removed the Cerebro apparatus, some 15 minutes after he received the distressed call from Jean Grey who, presently standing by, spoke with checked frustration: "I'm positive I could come to a better answer, but with how my powers have been malfunctioning I'm reluctant to try. . ."

She knew she couldn't locate Ryder any better than Xavier, who even with Cerebro saw his daughter as only a vague mutant signature where he knew to look.
But Jean's psychic rapport with Scott was something else. Yet being connected to such a broad network as Cerebro allowed, powers amplified on top of that,
the risk to other minds -as well her own- was far too great to put any one life on top of.

"Storm and Wolverine can take the other aircraft to where I lost their signals. In the meantime I'll contact Moira and keep trying."
He repressed a thought in the back of his mind that Ryder wasn't merely incidentally involved in whatever happened.

Jean as well. . .She had to be settled enough with the game plan for now, and hold fast to the fact that neither Ryder or Cyclops were killed. At least in the latter's case she, and Xavier, would've known instantly. Still, given the degree of what she'd felt. . .She hoped where ever they were was forgiving. . .

Forgiving? It wasn't a word one usually associated with the Master of Magnetism

"Take him to the infirmary. He barely looks capable of holding up the weight of Xavier's expectations another second."

Ryder's wake up call had been effective. Trouble was, Cyclops found himself with two key problems when he came to. Firstly, he was bound to the chair -not overly tight; enough to keep him in place yet not exacerbate his fresh injuries. In fact the stability was probably helping as, second of all, the burning shards of metal that were figuratively -literally?!- in his chest told him he'd been set back to stage -1 where his ribs were concerned. Couple that with the catching sensation on every other breath and warm, salty expectorations that came with and he knew he was lucky to be staring into the face of the X-Men's long time adversary, Magneto, a.k.a. Charles Xavier's old friend Erik Lehnsherr.

Still, Cyclops' driven need to put the missing pieces together -namely what happened after he went down- had him trying to gain further information- looking around, trying to speak-- he knew Ryder was alive at least, but was her "thunderclap of telepathy" for his own sake or her need? Had more sentinels followed the first? It was no use. He literally choked on his words and had to submit lest he succumb.

"When will the X-Men learn struggling is futile?"

At this, Erik's attention shifted back to the world beyond the telepathic and light refracting force dome, where he could feel the metal of the jet in the atmosphere as a shark may taste blood in water.

As it seemed, reaching out to touch it was unnecessary. It was already coming to him. Though at a clip much too fast to cause anything but disaster if not corrected; so he did-- as though the earth's magnetic fields were layers of a ballistic vest catching the bullet in its path -without the deforming effects.

Beyond what Ryder would feel physically, her experience would be as though she blinked and a new world came into view, as the jet came through the semi sphere which kept probing eyes -and minds- from typically seeing Genosha.

Built of metal molded with an artist's hand, it had a futuristic and altogether otherworldly look to it. The architecture showing flashes of certain, historical styles, yet mostly standing out as its own. This was no man-made city: it was homo superior's.

Where the jet would come to stop was a mixed platform of rock and metal, looking very much like some kind of landing pad. Though what aircraft usually made use of it wasn't anywhere to be seen.

There were a few other mutants immediately in sight besides their helmet and cape-clad leader. Whether they were his personal entourage or merely lookers-on was up to their visitor to decide. Presently Magneto fixed the waif with a highly astute stare. The damaged jet making it only too easy to do so.

"And who do we have here? Charles' latest devotee?"

In the month that passed since the tragic Asteroid M event, Jaclyn hadn't spent all of it at the Mansion.

On initial return she had, recouping. Helping where she could with those they had been able to evacuate, and being with Holo; gaining perspective. Of course the explanation had to come of why so many were at the Mansion suddenly. She was honest with Holo, never that type that felt they had to be some perfect image to the one who looked up to them. Holo was the perfect image type- where her powers were concerned. Well, perfect to Jaclyn even if Holo's projected imaginings were still literally rough around the edges.

While Jaclyn had been honest, she'd also been direct; not giving graphic details. That was dangerous for someone like Holo. As she spoke, Jaclyn did watch as an imagining of Asteroid M appeared above Holo's head. An imagining of the explosion and- Holo cut it off there. But then, she'd consciously made one of those left behind being safe. More than one- she imagined different realities of safety:
rescued by other, alien races; all of the mutants developing secondary mutations that allowed them to survive in space; the old school X-Men showing up just in time in some new, space-aged Blackbird.

They eased Jaclyn's spirit, made her smile, made her grin, even share a small laugh.

And once she found some peace, it came to her how to engender that in the other survivors.

OfAll made a fire.
A beacon for the passed spirit.

There were many who had, but as they left together she made it so they may come home together; the Mansion serving as a proxy for the one lost in space. She kept this fire- with Holo assisting- for several days; herself watching the smoke rise towards the sky. . .in her mind, towards space. Perhaps a home could be found there again.

Afterward, Jaclyn had returned to her apartment in the city for a little while, and to the Outreach Centre.
Finding a place nearby, she started learning Okichitaw. Her experience in space elucidating the fact that improving her combat and survival skills could only be a good thing, and shouldn't wait. Of course the Danger Room provided that sort of training, but she was looking to supplement it.

She had returned to the Mansion feeling clearer, stronger. . .yet still affected. That would linger in some way for her lifetime, she knew. What was heartening was that she seemed to find her teammates also to some degree better than when she'd left them; all finding their ways to get over that first hurdle.

Or most.
There did seem to be something off with Guin, and Jaclyn hadn't actually seen much of Mary. . .One had nearly broke her brain in the effort to save everyone and the other was the leader. Jaclyn couldn't imagine fully what either of their realities were, and didn't question giving them space.

Presently Jaclyn was walking the halls, intend on a specific location when she heard the wail of a bored individual coming around the corner behind her. She hadn't been around for all of Perry's Mood Booster (tm) exploits, but word had gotten around. One Jaclyn had attended was the sundae one- the best! Holo had been there, too. Presently said little sister was with one of her classmates off premises, having been invited to spend part of the Summer with them.

Jaclyn missed having her around but was also glad Holo had some place else to be.

Turning around, Jaclyn uttered a small laugh: "The party planner's hit a brick wall with themselves?" she joked.
