What I'm looking for in a RP partner: - Communication, both ICly and OOCly
- Above average literacy. For you who incessantly use roleplayerguild's level system, this would mean High Casual or better
- As long as you reply a couple of times a week, it's all good
- As long as your posts contain a modicum of content with some visible effort behind it, it's all good
What I'm looking for in a RP: - Romance can be good, but a good RP is a good RP, romance or not. I know there are mostly romance-junkies in the 1x1 sub-forum, but for me, plutonic social relationships of any kind work just as well
- Quality over quantity. I'd rather have a couple of paragraphs of solid content than a thousand words of mindless dribble
- Realistic characters and stories
- I enjoy role-playing underdogs, which means that I do not like over-powered characters who have everything from the start. A good story needs opposition to work
- Multiple characters are encouraged
- Most importantly, I want to have fun, and I want it to be fun for my partner as well. Role-playing isn't serious; it's an escape from reality. If it becomes another job, it loses its purpose. Everything contributing to making it more fun is A-OK. All of the above points are subsequent to this one.

Original Plots
Set during the Edo-period in Japan.
A band of thuggish samurai working for the local *daimyo walks through the village one day. For sport, they take one of the local women and force her to "entertain" them. The next morning, having enjoyed her so much, they decided to bring her along. Nobody dared question their action, as the daimyo they worked for is known for his ruthlessness. However, later that day, her brother returns to the village and learns that his sister has been captured. Not caring of the consequenses, he pursues the captors to rescue her. He manages to free her, but one of the daimyo samurai is killed in the process. Now, having killed one of the daimyo's men, they've become outlaws on the run, and are forced to leave the county. However, as a point of honor, the daimyo is reluctant to stop the pursuit and seems willing to have his men track them across the whole country if needed. The roleplay would center around the chase and everything that happens to them on the way. I would appreciate as much historical realism as possible.
My character, the brother, would be a former samurai who was badly injured in a previous war, almost ruining the elbow-joint of his right arm. Since then, he's been unable to use it for labor or hold a sword properly. He can use it, but whenever he does it's very painful, and he risks crippling his arm further. He would be a kind, honorable man, but is depressed because of his crippled arm. Sword-fighting was his life; his interest, his philosophy and his work. When the lord he fought for lost the war, he lost his position as samurai as well, and due to his ruined arm unable to regain his status. Since the war, he's been living with his mother and sister in his home village, helping to run their modest inn.
You can shape your character in any way you want, though within the plausibilities the Edo-period permits. If you want this to be a romantic roleplay, your character can alternatively be his wife or childhood girlfriend or something of the sort. The details of her capture and rescue is also open for change.
*Daimyo = local feudal lord
Set in a fictional reality with science fiction, fantasy and post-apocalyptic themes.
In the far future, or perhaps in the very distant past, in a universe quite like ours, all life is on the brink of extinction. The Nexus, the center of this universe, is an immense globe of blue and white lights. It is the source of all energy, and all things, living or not, are connected to it somehow. Since the beginning of time, many believing the Nexus to be the start of it all, it has served as a link between all entities in the universe, and has created and maintained balance. Everything is connected to it. Some gifted individuals have even managed to use this mental connection to their advantage and have gained extraordinary abilities. However, when mankind's technology allowed it, they were drawn to the Nexus as a power source. They extracted and used its substance as fuel for their machines. It was the purest form of energy ever discovered. It was the greatest discovery in eons, and it sent mankind into a new era of technology. For hundreds of years, everyone prospered from the pure, seemingly renewable, incredibly potent fuel harvested from the Nexus. It brought on a time of peace not seen in a long time, as the conflicts over energy came to a halt.
The Nexus, however, as if it had a will of its own, was determined to keep balance. Known now simply as "The Collapse", it was, scientists argue, a defence mechanism set off by the Nexus. In a fortnight, half of known space had been obliterated by a series of spontanious storms called Nexus Storms. These storms are blue and white in appearance, and are belived to be of the same material as the Nexus itself, and were thus considered to be of pure energy. Worlds were destroyed and countless beings lost their lives, while sending the rest of occupied space into chaos. The storms didn't stop after The Collapse, however. They continued to occur all over, and the Nexus was impossible to reach, as it was now surrounded by permanent storms.
The current state of the world is as follows, five years after The Collapse. Interstellar travel, due to the Nexus Storms, is highly dangerous and only people who are truly desperate or have a death wish continues to travel between galaxies. Traveling between planets within one's galaxy is still perfectly safe. However, this means that universal commerce, which everyone had become incredible dependent on, has grounded to a sudden halt. The population of most galaxies are in open anarchy.
In this roleplay, we would be in a galaxy not unlike the Milky Way Galaxy, trapped on a planet not unlike Earth, trying to survive. This idea is still a work-in-progress, as there are many details and factions I have yet to flesh out. However, if you are interested in this story outline and are willing to flesh it out together with me, I'd be delighted.
A dark and gritty fantasy setting.
In distant lands, where no one travels, lies the Gates of Bodom. It's spoken of as the gateway to the realm of spirits, where all souls go when their body dies. At least, this is what most people believe. Nobody knows for certain, since the fewest of men ever to travel there return to tell of it. Only legends and old tales speak of it in length, and even then it remains a place shrouded in mystery. One legend is particularily famous. If you can find the person's soul in the realm of spirits, it claims that you can return that someone to life.
Our characters would be two people who have decided to rely on this legend as a desperate hope to bring back someone they lost. It's very much up for discussion, but one alternative could be for one of them to have lost his or her wife or husband, and the other one being a very close friend of the two. The roleplay would be about their journey to the Gates of Bodom and eventually, if it even exists, through the spirit realms.
Beside the Gates of Bodom and maintaining a dark fantasy vibe, it's pretty much a sandbox roleplay, where we should both contribute to fleshing out the world. We can take it as we go along or plan ahead, or a bit of both.
