Eve sat on there, under the light of a street lamp after once again staying late at the hobby store where she worked. Her hands carefully moved, in such a quick yet delicate way, moving a needle and colorful thread in and out to create a picture on a piece of cloth. It seemed effortlessly done, but this one blue bird had taken many hours to do, and with the lack of good light she found herself concentrating harder than usual. It kept her mind off of the darkness that surrounded her, frightening her, not knowing what could be lurking in those shadowy crevasses.

However, Eve kept her mind to her work, until a hand fell on her shoulder. Though it was a soft touch she still jumped, letting out a gasp and sticking herself had with the needle. She let out a little yelp when she jumped up, turning to see Mr. Kroger, the owner of the hobby shop.

"Eve, shouldn't you be home?" Eve looked down at her finger, kissing it before answering him softly, "My bus seems to have forgotten about me or something." Mr. Kroger frowned, offering to call a cab for her, but Eve declined the offer. "I can walk. I just take the bus at night because it's safer."

Mr. Kroger didn't like the idea of Eve walking at night. Though 19 she still looked only 14 or 15 on good days, and both knew that though this was a small town there were still some unknown characters out there that only appeared at night.
The two argued for a moment before Eve somehow convinced she would be fine, which led her to start on her adventure home. She walked home, jumping at every dog bark, scurry of cat or any voice of someone out late with others having a good time that night. Half way home was when she started to settle her nerve and let her guard down, and it was also the moment that's David Collin came out of a house.

It seemed like it was a party from the noise flowing from the home, and somehow from across the road David saw Eve. David was a nice enough boy, and in high school he had started many random conversations with her. He was just kind of awkward, and as he crossed the road Eve turned her gaze and just kept walking.

"Eve~!!" He called to her, stumbling over to her, placing his arm around her. Suddenly a strong scent of alcohol hit her hard- he was drunk.
"Hey, didn't you hear me?" He smiled and held Eve tighter, choking her slightly which made her stop moving. "H-Hey David, long time no see....Sorry, I'm in a rush to get home. My dog won't like it if I don't get home on time." David laughed, but in a slurred and confused way. He put his face closer to hers and whispered in her ear- "Why don't you come home with me instead?" Her skin crawled, but she answered as calmly as she could, "No thank you David. You don't seem yourself, so maybe you should have a friend take you home." He didn't seem to like that answer. Next thing Eve knew she was being pined up against the chain linked fence behind her. She started to squirm, David only held tighter to her wrists as he spoke of how he had liked her for a long time, how he was tired of waiting, and how he wanted her to come home with him.

"David, please, just let me go." Eve was so small, so even though she could be wiry, David had left her in a tight position. With her voice as her only chance she started to call out loudly for help. David took both wrists into one hand while the other tried to cover her mouth. But with all she had she continued to wiggle and did her best to be loud. Tears started to form as she realizes no one was going to hear her, David knew the same and moved in closer against her. He was husky boy, not fat but with his shorter stature he looked bigger than most his age, but with all that muscle, fat and bone the little Eve could now hardly breath.

The air night was cool but still, strangely still and suddenly all noise seemed to disappear, the thumping from the music seemed to die, the lights seemed to dim and the street lights began to flicker. Suddenly the stillness of the night erupted into forceful wind, crashing around the pair violently, tearing at clothes. David looked around, though it would be hard to see much, impossible after the next few seconds. The trees shook fiercely and suddenly a branch came loose, falling onto the power lines. Instant darkness of lost power was followed by a few sparks from the severed cable before it came to rest of the other side of the street.

David’s grip on Eve loosened, not enough for her to escape though. The next thing he knew a bright, almost burning light began emitting from beneath Eve’s clothes, near her chest. “What the-” suddenly the girl felt hot to the touch, burning hot and he withdrew from her with a pained scream. But it wasn’t over yet, the light grew brighter and brighter, to the point where there was nothing else to see, it began floating, all on its own and the next thing he knew he was flying backwards, as if someone with super strength had pushed him he flew half way across the street before landing with an ‘oof’, unconscious.

Eve was also pushed to the ground by this blast. However a few seconds later the wind died, returning to the strangely still and now very quiet night. With the light of the crystal extinguished after the blast and the power out on the street it was dark once more, the stars and new moon doing very little to provide light to see by. After a few seconds of silence more light entered the world, beside her a soft glowing surrounded an unearthly figure, whom seemed to be floating in mid air.

The figure was human in shape, but very slender, their body an bizarre white-ish blue, their har seeming to defy gravity along with the rest of their body as it curled up over their head. The figure seemed tense for a moment, their eyes, one golden, one white locked onto where David lie. After a few seconds they seemed to decide that he was down for the count, and wasn’t getting back up and they relaxed, turning towards where Eve sat on the ground. “Rise.” He said, for the voice confirmed that it was a male. After a few seconds, he spoke again as he extended out a hand to her. “Rise up. You are safe now.”

Whatever just happen had Eve in complete shock. Breath caught in throat, heart pounding, body shaking shock and it was hard to think of just one thing with so many questions running though her head. For a moment she just looked around, as if lost in her own world. When she finally caught her breath again she looked up at the male figure floating next to her, reaching out his hand to her. She didn't take it, just stared at it a moment before looking back at his face.

"W-who are you? What are you? What just happened?" Once again she started to panic. With a wobbly start she stood, trying to steady herself on shaky legs. The tears that had already formed fell down her cheeks as she stepped back hesitantly.

Placing her hand on her chest she then remembered the crystal. Quickly she pulled it out, holding the stone away from herself as she stared at it in awe. Any normal person would have run away, they would throw the necklace on the ground to never see it again, but Eve stayed because of a strange feeling. All she did was ask again- "What just happened?"

He looked at her curiously, before slowly withdrawing his hand and turning his attention back to David impassively, there was no sign of insult on his face, no real emotion at all actually. He stood there for a few moments in silence, his eyes locked on the boy before he eventually spoke without looking at her. His voice was soft, smooth and, like everything else about him, had this other-worldly feel to it. “Astral.” He said eventually, moving into a relaxed posture, crossing his arms over his chest. “My name is Astral… if I recall.” He seemed uncertain of this, though his voice didn’t waver.

“However I am unable to answer any other of your questions, as I am uncertain of the answers myself.” He eventually looked away from the boy reluctantly, as if he kept expecting him to get back up miraculously and returned his attention back to the small girl before him. However he seemed unsure as to what he was supposed to do now. In truth he wasn’t. “Not only do I not recall who I am… but I do not recall much of anything. Other that I arrived here with a great purpose, which now escapes me.”
