I wish I learned how to use a longsword. I know some super basic things, but that seems like such a fun sport. Maybe even legit fencing, too, but longswords are cool.

Yeah that's something I want to get into as well.

The problem is only that while the fencing community is small, the classical swordplay community seems even smaller.

I've mostly only stumbled upon people who make swords and weapons, or who appreciate and collect.

In Edmonton, there's an organization that practices medieval European martial arts and what not. I think it would be rather fun to do that, especially learning how to ruin somebody's day with a hammer.

Remember all those medical thrillers in the late '80s and early '90s where they had that guy in the plane infected with some sort of super-virus, and the President has to decide whether or not to shoot the plane down? This thread is that airplane.

70. Should Nat be the overlaord of spam?

I'm gonna guess you mean't overlord.

No OP, that ain't a good idea. We'd just get more Nat clones.

One Nat is enough. He should probably be Defender of Spam or something.

72. Do you support its opening?

Yes. I don't know what is opening but I'm going to be optimistic and say yes.

@69 I'd miss all the members though I think I'd miss Gold and Dervish the most, next to Doivid & Jster who are really funny and Halo who I think I do get along with.
Who wouldn't I miss? Mr_pink, Larfleeze & AYMM
@70 Nope

@72 Yep.

@32 congrats Larfleeze you're the first unknown to make me smile here's your star ★

@67 Of course, those things are always popular in Spam
I remember one that rpg101 did one, I was a spaceship captain, the amalgam of Captain Harkness and Captain Malcom Reynolds, saving the spam sector through glittering goodness. T'was glorious.

@69. There are a lot of people I miss, and a lot I don't. I found my Friends List from OldGuild the other day, it was depressing to read the names and see how many I haven't talked to in a long time.
As for current people? I'd probably miss the people in the skype crew I've known for years (I'd list names but then I'd forget one and feel horrible)
As for who I wouldn't miss? A lot of the newer members I've had no contact with, I suppose.

And I'm gonna throw Lucian in here, because although he's been around for yonks I've only really seen him generally frequenting Spam more recently.

I'll take this as a compliment.

I have 4 rifles (shotgun's coming up next), about 4 combat knives, 2 good sized folding knives, a tomahawk, and a "tactical" spear (which I freely admit I bought simply because it looked cool). Good for camping or, you know, stealing people's organs. I had pretty good lessons about knife fighting when I was in the army, the guy teaching us was an Afghanistan veteran.

See, being an incorrigible Britfag, that just seems insane to me. I was part of the ATC (junior RAF) for a while and fired a few rifles, but only under very strict conditions and monitoring, and the idea of people just owning them privately and carrying them around freely is bizarre to me. Awesome in some ways, but bizarre. It's one of the things I'd struggle with most if I end up moving over to North America, I think.
I imagine knife fighting in reality is considerably less glamorous and intricate than it is in Hollywook films, no? xD I didn't know you'd been in the army, though (though that may speak of my obliviousness more than anything else.)

"Lucian."
That is, indeed, a compliment. Though I really wouldn't be too happy about it, my opinion isn't worth much; I actually liked Pitch Perfect.

Up here in Canada, especially out West, gun ownership is pretty much normal and nothing special. We have a big hunting culture and it's not hard to find a shooting range. The vast majority of gun owners are responsible, law abiding people who know that screwing around can lead to stricter, stupid laws that just punish everyone needlessly. It's not as weird as you might think, most of it's out of sight, out of mind.

As for knife fighting, it's pretty quick and brutal. A lot of it is being able to deflect your opponent's arm and then going for a disabling or lethal strike, and keeping your knife hand back and your unarmed one forward. Getting hurt in the arm is a lot better than dying because you lost your weapon.
