I actually prefer unique and weak, over bland and bandwagon powers. XD I am using mine in a way that limits pretty much to just melee combat, using a variety of melee styles. At times it will brawling, and at others it will be agile and speedy. I may even incorporate a melee weapon other his powers, if that is ok with PS.

What's your opinion of this as a conduit power?:

Conduit Powers:

Kinetic energy manipulation- Rich has the power to manipulate the kinetic energy around him or generated by him. Rich absorbs the energy from objects of mass in motion. (Exe, passing car, spinning wheel, speeding bullet etc) He cannot absorb the kinetic energy he generates but only from outside forces. The kinetic energy he absorbs eventually renders the object stationary unless pushed from another external force. (Exe absorbing the momentum generated by a passing car will cause it to slow down or even stop if near it long enough.) He can absorb the kinetic energy of an object coming towards him (like a bullet or baseball) to the point where its barely mobile by the time it hits him. Obviously the larger the object the more mass and the longer it takes to slow it down. Also multiple projectiles prove a bigger challenge and his complete concentration. (As of right now Rich can slow down no more than two, possibly three bullets fired at him from the same point. And pulling all the kinetic energy from a car going roughly 55mph would take 30 seconds to a minute.)

Rich doesn't just absorb kinetic energy, he can suppliment his own force with the kinetic energy stored. He can throw a ball and easily exceed 900fps or throw a punch that could cave in a mans chest. Using his stored kinetic energy he can ultimately sprint for long distances using extremely long strides or jump roughly to the roof of a two story home. His limitations are his own physical strength. He can't lift a car over his head but if he can get a running start he can slam into the side of it sending it flying in a straight line. A unique power of his enables him to "deflect" larger objects away from him by altering the kinetic energys path with some of his own instead of absorbing it entirely. (Exe a car coming straight at him can't be absorbed quick enough to stop it but he can alter its route slightly so it angles away from him... think deflective angles)

It's an interesting power, but I'll unfortunately have to shoot it down, mainly because, as we established with the light based powers, that energy =/= matter and since the powers that conduits hold are the ability to manipulate matter, that it's not really and applicable ability to have.

Now, I forgot to mention this earlier, if there are conduits that I'm over looking that have powers that aren't based in matter, let me know, and then abilities like light and kinetic energy manipulations would be allowed. Until then though, I can't allow anything that isn't strictly matter based (keeping to the lore of the series).

Actually, here, a direct list of known conduit abilities within the infamous universe so far.

Carpentry Manipulation
Concrete Manipulation
Cryokinesis
Electrokinesis/Electromagnetism
Energy Manipulation
Flight
Glass Manipulation
Gravity Manipulation
Magnetic Manipulation
Masonry Manipulation
Mirror Manipulation
Neon Manipulation
Organic Manipulation
Paper Manipulation
Power Absorption
Power Development[5]
Pressurized Water Manipulation
Pyrokinesis
Shadow Manipulation
Shape Shifting
Smoke Manipulation
Steam Manipulation
Street Manipulation
Telekinesis
Teleportation
Telepathy
Time Travel
Video Manipulation
Wire Manipulation
Wood Manipulation

also a link to the wikia I pulled this from

Other than the ability of time travel (which I think was more of a dues ex machina than legitimate conduit power) there are no "energy" based powers and strictly "matter" based powers (with the exclusion of delsin's absorption and development powers). So unfortunately, kinetic manipulation is not a thing. Unless once again I overlooked something, in which case, please point it out and I'll gladly change everything to fit better with the universe.

Well I had an idea of a power based off photonic energy generated by artificial light and photons have mass when moving. Also didn't that nerdy kid from second son use video as a power? That's essentially energy as is coles powers. Electricity is energy no? I'm a little rusty on my science

Telekinetic manipulation is a refined version of kinetic energy manipulation... also shadow manipulation is not enen matter. Shadows are nothing except absence of light

I would seriously take a second look at the list you just copied. Roughly a third of the powers on the list either have no matter and/or deal with energy manipulation. Also, don't all conduits need to absorb their base before able to use their power? If so how does telportation ortelepathy fit? And wouldn't mirror manipulation be refracting light? Essentially light manipulation? Sry for triple posting but I'm just really confused now

Electricity is a form of matter created by the flow of electrons. This flow creates the physical existence of electricity. Refer back to this and the last paragraph which explains that photon don't have have mass therefore light technically is not matter.

telekinesis within the infamous universe refer's to cole tk push power, which is just a charge of magnetic waves (or something like that) that he throws out to push and move objects, so that's still within his realm of manipulation essentially. Also, the ice guys can manipulate ice by lifting it without touching it, but that is still within their ice control. All of the "telekinesis" abilities referred to within Infamous are just conduits manipulating their matter of choice without having direct physical contact with it, and there's no single user that displays it alone on objects that don't have anything to do with their conduit related matter.

Shadow abilities are referring to the blood festival dlc that I don't consider canon and I don't think anyone else should, so shadows are out.

Telepathy is used by the woman who leads the reaper, and I'm pretty sure her telepathic ability has to do with the special tar she can use to control people, probably linking her to them mentally so they can communicate. It's a stretch I know, so that's a point to you on this one.

Teleporting is again, another I can't explain that well. My guess as to how it's matter related is, that they're manipulating their own body's matter and moving it within short bursts, but w/e, another point to you.

As for mirrors, I'm not sure why that's on the list because I can't find anything explaining what "mirror manipulation" is within the conduit universe. THe only thing I found is a bit about how a character from the vampire dlc is named after "bloody mary" cause of the whole "say bloody mary in the bathroom mirror" thing. So I don't think this counts.

So, other than teleporting and telepathy (and I guess mirror, but it doesn't seem to be a real thing within the series), all of the abilities are either matter oriented or are just not well explained since it's just listing off the abilities and not how they actually work.

And of these two abilities, they seem to be more just "super human/human evolution" type abilities than an ability of matter or energy, so they should be disregarded imo.

However lets see what the whole group thinks before we make any final decisions. Anyone interested, just say whether "energy" based abilities should be allowed or not based on everything discussed so far.

Light is a form of energy, not matter. Matter is made up of atoms. Light is actually electromagnetic radiation. Moving electric charge or moving electrons (electric current) cause a magnetic field, and a changing magnetic field creates an electric current or electric field. So, changing magnetic and electric fields interact with each other and produce an electromagnetic wave composed of two parts: a magnetic field and an electric field. Electromagnetic radiation has many forms: the visible light spectrum, UV rays, radio waves, and x-rays to name a few.

-so this would rule out any powers related including sound related powers, radio waves or any kind of waves for the matter including electromagnetic waves. This is confusing since cole uses electromagnetic energy as well.... perhaps its just a byproduct of the electricity manipulation.... but if that's the case:

Light is made up of "things" called photons, and these photons can possess some of the properties of matter. For example, they are always moving, and when they move, they can exert a (usually very small) force on an object (just like moving matter can).

Then wouldn't the ability to manipulate protononic energy be ok since it shares most of the traits of matter as long as it moving? (Lasers) Light would also be generated as a byproduct just like the neons chemical based powers.

*I don't mean to start a debate I just am trying to clarify most of the holes in the infamous universe. I understand its just a videogame but if there's going to be limitations and parameters id like to know beforehand before I spend hours creating an "original" power and ultimately getting rejected. I'm not trying to be a dick and hope I'm not portraying myself as one. I really like this idea and just want to make a cool fun story based off a solid lore. XD

I understand, and I don't think you're being a dick at all. Just using what seems to be agreed upon that electricity counts as matter and that light doesn't. Just cause light shares properties to matter doesn't make it matter. The basic property something needs to have to be considered matter, as explained by the sight, is that matter needs mass. Electrons have mass, photons don't, ergo, electricity (the flow of electrons) is matter and light (the movement of photons) isn't matter.

Light is made up of "things" called photons, and these photons can possess some of the properties of matter. For example, they are always moving, and when they move, they can exert a (usually very small) force on an object (just like moving matter can). But most of the time, light is just light. It is not matter as much as it is energy.
That's the full quote of your second quote that while giving the truth that light does share similar properties to matter, that doesn't make it matter.

I don't want to be a jerk myself, I really don't, but the article explains in several ways that light is energy, not matter. And my previous explanation of the list of powers explains that other than 2 powers, they are either all based in matter, or aren't actually canon to the universe and therefore don't matter.

Therefore, anything that, in base form, is energy, then it is not really possible (within the universe) for it to exist as a power. Still, I'm open to leave this to a vote for everyone interested in the RP.

I don't think light should be allowed, but I'm willing to leave this up to everyone. This ain't a dictatorship (for the most part). It's a democracy, and I intend to let everyone have a vote within this RP as to whether "energy" based powers should be allowed or not.

EDIT: I say therefore a lot...Need to stop using bridge words like that.

Ok I hear you. I'm not going to oppose but if that's the case I'm thinking I may refert back to metal manipulation (much more refined of course) unless I can think up another good power while I'm working graveyard shift id like to reserve that for now. I'll try and make it as original as possible but it may be cutting it close since most of the "cool" powers aren't officially original.... hmmm now my brains gears are going into overdrive lol

*ACTUALLY SCRATCH THAT... NEW IDEA.... BLOOD MANIPULATION XD

A) Telepathy in Infamous One is used only by the Reaper's Mistress, and she does in fact use her tar as a mind control agent.

B) Teleportation is the ability.to shift one's own matter in an extremely fast way to teleport short distances. Kessler develops a form of this through his years of pre-apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic survival. This is why you see Kessler "dashing" or teleporting at extreme speeds from place to place.

C) The "force" applied by moving Photons is minimal to none, and non-existent to a Conduit. Conduits do not manipulate "forces" as "forces" are not matter. A conduit cannot control gravity, but he can control mass in certain ways. The ideal of controlling a nano-particle structure by it's applied "force" is not attempting to control matter. Photons are particles, not matter, there is in fact a difference.

D) There is a series of sub-set powers that have been explained to occur in Conduits through genes. The Conduit gene, is a gene and does more then allow "powers." It also unlocks parts of the gene to allow certain Conduits, aside from the Reaper's Mistress, to use telepathy.

E) "Telekinesis" isn't actually a separate power all it's own, but rather most Conduits use their power to connect themselves with an object to move it. An Example: Phantom's use of the Ice-Units powers, a Unit would make ice on the object, be little or large amounts, and then move the object by moving ice attached to it.

F) Mirror Manipulation is not the manipulation of refracted light, it is literally the use of mirror material. Mirrors are made of a special material all there own, and the person of this power would be using mirrors and mirror material as his/her powers.

G) Video Powers are a form of Electromagnetic-wavelength matter that Eugene controls, and uses to produce Electromagnetic constructs of pixelated form to fight.

Wow, I never even knew that warframe and dark sector came from the same group lol. Played Dark sector when I was like in my early teens, I loved the game (though I have a better grasp of game design and realize how not good it actually was, but still dear to me) and I hop onto steam to play warframe every so often. PC master race.

Anyone here play DFO since it came back to the states and europe?

Is it okay if I add more powers to Taylor's arsenal? Don't worry, they're all gonna be fabric-based.

Also, I was gonna make him a papyrokinetic (paper manipulator), but that's already been done with Celia.
