Haha, "Black is Back". That's funny to me for some reason.

Alright, hold on, let's back up a bit. The RP time has frozen, to reflect the halting of the post flow, so nothing has happened yet.

Shall I remove the troop and ships caps, so that we can revert to the original basic form?

Trying to do right by the RP, but it looks like I may be breaking it in the process haha.

It's 2am over here, so I'm gonna have to go to sleep. Y'all let me know what needs to happen, and I'll make it so.
Blackbishop, your nation is now back under your control. Glad to have you back, and I hope whatever it is was you've been upto wasn't an unpleasant affair.

Titanic, let's say each black ship marker represents: 40 lights, 20 mediums, 10 heavies. However they're of superior quality, being able to move quicker and sustain more damage than the ones we have access to. Don't worry though, they're beatable.

Bishop worded it better than I could have so I agree with what he said. Should there be changes, keep it simple :)

Regardless I am kinda enjoying the idea of a nation specialty.

I'll do 500 light, 250 medium, 125 heavy ships with heavy lumber importing. That 100 light, 50 medium, and 25 heavy ships per region.

GA operations are on hold till next week. I will then get everything organized since everyone is nearly back.

SyrianHamster said As we're doing some restructuring, I'm thinking of including Army Cards so that players can better detail their armies for the benefit of both the GM and others. Something like this:

Army Status Card
The Flame Guards

The navy card would follow a similar format.

i agree with this one.

I don't think we need this, the nation status card is already a pain for me.

I wouldn't mind the army/navy cards. Regarding the rest of the changes, excluding the few core mechanics which are needed to prevent godmodding and to keep things balanced, they should be kept simple.

PS: Posted.

Okay, looking from the feedback I think the people have spoken. I'll revert everything back to its original free-form style, troop and navy caps are now void, and will be removed when I get back from foraging for food.

Army and navy cards look like they might add depth to someone's armed forces though, and as they aren't a system, I will permit them to those who wish to use them. They are not however mandatory. Post them under your nation status card, if you do wish to use them, or something similar.

Thanks for the input guys.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but you must understand, if you go looking at other nation Rps, every post is a wall of text, requring the GM to sift through it all to find all the details. Though I do read every post, after reading like 4 in a row, I'm left there thinking "Wait, who has what?" the cards are just a good reference point for me.

Do as you will with your navy, but remember that we haven't got any industrial machines at our disposal, and so our people rely on good old fashioned planks and nails to get their ships together. So build this force up slowly. Don't worry, you have time before the blackships make their second debut.

Right, RP is officially reverted. I've edited the military mechanics to include the following 2 points:

- Keep recruitment and maintenance at a realistic scale. The more soldiers you have, the more you need to pay for their services, and supply them with food. The longer therefore you keep an army in the field, the bigger the burden it puts on your economy. Keep professional armies small, to avoid economic problems. However, in times of war, you have full right to mobilize your population. Again, just remember that the resources available to you, the wealth of your state and your available food should all play apart in how long you can keep this force, and what quality it will be.

- Ships take time to build, and so whacking out a hundred in a week will be a bit beyond the realms of reason. I wont put a limit on how much you can build, but just keep it small, to reflect the working practices of the time-period. They took months if not years to build IRL, though, so we don't need to be super realistic - just no mass production. For example, if I was going to build a navy of 10 light ships, 5 mediums and 3 heavies, I'd probably leave at least a four game week period for this to happen. This is not a staple time measurement, just a kind of advisory to work by. I'll reel you in if I feel you're overstepping the mark, but even then I'll be gentle, I promise.
Right, time to dice roll some NPC nations to see what's what.

NPCs rolled. If anyone wants to know what system I use, it's all 6 sided dice based.

A throw a few to determine a region.

If the region is NPC owned, then I throw a single dice to decide 1 of 6 events.

If the region is player owned, then I throw a single dice to decide 1 of 6 other events.

Some of these events can lead to further dice rolls.

I wont list them because I don't want the magic to go, but just so's you all know that I actually do rely on random input to keep the world more... unpredictable.

On the fate of Elthana, would you guys like me to decide how much of the Elven population has left? Or would you guys like to take care of that?

I'm going to say that Elthana has a population of 45,000 Elves, unless this contradicts anything.

It's fine, what population did you put Elthana at?

They're optional, but I think I'll use one because I like the depth and extra detail it can add. There's no standard format for it, but using a hider keeps your post from going BLURGHHHHH! at people.

I submitted my nation in the nation thread. I noticed Syrian, that you had already established some stuff with the world event, so I based my army from it, but changed the leader and some other stuff. Hope that's acceptable! (Also as an aside I'm going to add a map of my region to the nation sheet at some point, along with some other extra details)

I'm not doing anything until my nation is approved by Syrian.
