Ten years ago I was a huge fan of Tool, A Perfect Circle, A System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Angelspit, The Beatles, and Snoop Dogg (did Puscifer exist yet?). My music taste ranged really drastically, but these artists were very common choices for me. Gorillaz was also pretty notable in my life. I had a hard time finding artists I enjoyed, because the music often felt it had little going for it in originality after listening to half an album. Many artists seemed to sound the same throughout, for me. My appeal to Tool & A Perfect Circle stemmed from the wild variance in their music, it felt like an adapting thing and helped me understand my emotions when listening. Today Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, The Beatles, and Gorillaz remain close to my heart. I am a huge fan of Dubstep, which I feel is way more rewarding than Angelspit-like Industrial, and love, love, LOVE, rap and eccentric jazz. A few names off my Spotify would be The Grouch, Abstract Rude, Rhye, Aceyalone, Aloe Blacc, Kimbra, Haim, and M.I.A.

are you me?

Yeah, my musical tastes have changed, but I still listen to some of the stuff I was into when I was younger. It's probably mostly to do with nostalgia, because there are whole genres I don't like anymore aside from those things I used to listen to as a kid. Also, all of the hyperlinked band names lead to what I recall being my favorite song by that band when I was younger, or my favorite song of theirs currently if it's in the paragraph about my current tastes.

I used to listen to System of a Down, Blink 182, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, and various other rock/alternative type things. Some forays into more pop-ish stuff, some into classic rock, a little bit into metal. I had a period where I was way into stuff like Killswitch Engage and Atreyu, but I really dislike this kind of music now. I just went and tried to listen to other songs from those two bands that I hadn't been aware of when I was 15, from the same albums even, and I just can't get into them at all.

Nowadays I'm more into stuff like Ariel by Stateless (I really need to go listen to other songs they've made, lol), Florence and The Machine, Kimbra, Woodkid, Les Friction, Metric, and Bat for Lashes. So lots of indie, and then whatever the hell you'd call Woodkid and Les Friction. I've also gotten more into metal after finding subgenres that appeal to me, which range from symphonic metal (Within Temptation and Nightwish) to folk metal of the viking and pirate subtypes (Týr and Alestorm). And then there's some outliers like Diablo Swing Orchestra that I have no explanation for. Oh, and I also listen to a decent amount of soundtracks from various sources, but I'm not gonna bother listing any of those because I'm tired of searching for things on Youtube.
