So, for all of you living-aloners out there...

What questions should I be asking when it comes to apartment hunting?

You should definitely look up reviews on the internet of the apartment building, big things that your managers might not tell you include:

- Terrible managers, you don't want to find out that he's the type to just let himself in your apartment to install cameras.
- Thin walls
- Bugs, the place might look nice, but that doesn't stop the roaches from 3B invading your space.
- If the neighbors are jerks / work nights. I had a neighbor who would slam his door every day at 3 in the morning. I hated that guy. :(
- Pet policy
- Guest Policy, (Sometimes managers get weird if you have a guest over for a week or two.)
- Ask them straight up how much they want up front. You don't want to sign a lease and find out they were asking for more then you expected.
- Ask about a move-in special, see if you can get the last month waived. Some places do this when they are desperate for tennants.

-Guest policy is big for me, but hall got that.
And as sole said: LOCATION.
-Check the distance to school (if you are still going) and work, see if you can find easy routs to get to the places you need to go.
-Also check how close various stores are so you will be able to get what you need in an emergency, or just for convenience.
-Visit the neighborhoods of potential places on a Saturday or Friday night and see just how loud it might get.
-Also, check the room's location in the building, your bedroom window could be on the bottom floor, right next to the main interference, so everyone gets a good look inside.
-Also, parking. Make sure you have a good place for your car.
-Storage maybe, if you have alot of shit, some places have additional storage options.

Big emphasis on what type of person your landlord is. My mates and I found a great house to rent for the four of us and cheaply at that. Turns out the landlord is a bit of a snoop and we have reason to believe he shuts off our AC every now and then.
