Why, though? I suppose if you're planning to go into an industry in which connections are very important then it might be worth it - sort of like sending your kids to private school - but honestly, I don't understand the attraction of being in one of these groups.Amis and Elli will almost definitely end up in a wee scrap at some point. Although I would briefly like to say that Amis' views only loosely reflect my own - I'm a lot less intolerant and vitriolic than he is. Usually. :P

In the performing arts world, connections mean everything. It could make or break you. Success in that business is very hard to attain, especially when a director can dismiss your audition simply because s/he didn't like your attire. For example, I went to a vocal competition where the three judges score you out of 100. One judge gave me a 96, another gave me a 98, and the other gave me a 78 and wrote "that dress is horrid" at the bottom of my results paper. Other times, especially in musical theatre and opera, girls will try to get a leg up by offering "favors" to the male directors and managers, who would then refer them to other directors. So rather than do that, people join specific sororities and frats to have connections. Seniority in those organizations go by how long you've been there, and if you're an important member, you usually get to meet the guest speakers and whatnot of certain events, and if you get lucky, they ask to exchange contact information. Other times, you're asked to represent your organization at events. Connections are useful in performing arts, business, journalism, etc.

@ Aria: Yes! Although, I didn't even really do any theater until the summer going into senior year of high school hahaha. I'm a late bloomer, but I'm glad that I'm getting into it. It's so great, and I'm so lucky to be in the middle of it in NYC!

I was supposed to be at the University of Rochester to study at the Eastman School of Music, but because I have jaw complications that make it nearly impossible for me to pursue a career in opera, I turned it down. I hear the theater scene in NYC is quite something! It must be very exciting indeed (:

I can't wait for your post, Icc! My excitement is like, bubbling over lol.

Y'all can post ahead of him, says our dearest captain. He has something to deal with!

And wow, opera? That's freaking crazy, girl. So SO many props to you if that was what you were planning to do. Apologies that there were complications, but hell, I'm proud of you anyway lol! I'm just in BA Acting at the moment, thinking of possibly doing directing as well. But time will tell. If you're ever in the NY area and want to go see shows, I'd most definitely make myself available for another performer.

The joint in my jaw is really wonky. There's a disc in the joint that moves back when you open the mouth, and its supposed to be a smooth motion. My jaw clicks and pops, so the disc gets stuck and I have to force it back. At first the doctors thought it was a temporary thing that comes with growth, but the oral surgeon and therapist came to study me, and my singing puts stress on my jaw, on the joint and the muscles. The range in which I naturally sing requires that I have plenty of room to make the sound resonate, and my jaw just won't allow for it.

You heard her, guys, she'll be doing directing and acting one day. She's going to win a Tony Awards, Laurence Olivier Awards, Emmy Awards and Academy Awards.
*bliss in the future* "Wow, thank you so much. I'd like to thank the Academy, my friends, family, and all my fans who supported me from the very beginning. Thank you, I love you all!"

Aw man, that must be hard, especially since I'm assuming you enjoy singing. I've only ever sung in band situations and have never really done anything as challenging as opera, so I can't even imagine how much stress it must have been putting on it... And HAHA aw aw you're so sweet! Jeeze, I can only hope it turns out that way lol. But I'm still a baby and I have a looooooooooooong way to go before I even get to a point where I can just begin to graze that league. Thank you for your confidence, however. It means a lot :)

Bleh, alright lol. Already tired of the rain, but I'll manage I suppose. Also began writing my post finally, but no assurances it will be up tonight. My attention is a bit divided at the moment. Obviously, tomorrow morning will be my latest, but I'm gonna try and get my post up tonight. Also wish I had some juice. Lol.

It's half three in the morning, so not precisely spectacular. Having major throwbacks to my emo years by listening to old music. Dat nostalgia. xD

I never went through an emo phase during my adolescence. For those of you who did, was it fun?

At the time, definitely. But it's even more fun to look back at it, LOL. It was a strange time in my life, but I don't doubt going through it, because it's good for a lot of laughs, I think.

EDIT: Ignore this; I don't make the best decisions regarding what to post late at night! xD I'll summarise: it depends whether you're the type of "emo" for whom the term was coined, or whether you were part of what it became, which is a wider social and cultural group that doesn't necessarily include the far darker aspects of traditional "emo" characteristics.

A mixture of things - some Fireflight, ReadySetFall, Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, that sort of thing, along with the truly heartbreaking stuff like Damien Rice, The Civil Wars, Angus and Julia Stone, and so on. I was listening to more metal earlier - stuff like Chiodos, Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, etc. I've always had fairly diverse taste, so even in those days there was a broad range of stuff, but generally my tastes used to fall under metal/hard rock for the most part. So, unable to sleep, of course I'm just sitting here post-dawn headbanging :P

Okay, my post is up people. Here's a few things.

This begins our very first fight. Now, don't take my post as guidance or anything. The only thing I did was spread the group out, but what happened to Varrina was a character decision. You guys are free to act in the way you think your character would (realistically, of course).

Within this short scene, your characters will have to find a way to defeat this Guardian. Now, he's not at full strength because he's been weakened considerably, but it's up to the characters to beat him somehow. That's all I got for you. Everything else is creative freedom haha.

GO FORTH AND POST! I await seeing how these characters will react to being attacked in such a way lol.

Oh man, I miss it haha. I remember having the hugest crush on Oliver Sykes from Bring Me The Horizon back in the day. Lately I've been listening to a lot of 90s rock, like Stone Temple Pilots, Live, and Pearl Jam. Makes me a very happy Bliss.

Can't wait to read how everyone reacts to getting drenched to the bone heheh. And happy Thursday! I'm kicking the morning off by watching Push the movie. Again, one of my favorites.

Whaaa-? Nah, I never found Oli attractive, personally. Jared Leto, on the other hand... :3 And I must admit that my knowledge of 90s rock is direly lacking, though I'll make sure to look up those bands.
I live in Scotland; I'm used to being drenched. And it's already Thursday? Christ, I'm losing track of time. My Prom's tomorrow, ew. Also, Push - is that the one where they can teleport through photographs? Or is that "Jumper"?

My senior year, the theme was "Fire and Ice" and this year when I went (my boyfriend just graduated HS), the theme was "Great Gatsby." I know this sounds so cliche, but man, prom was BUMPIN'. Except for sweaty grinding people, but that's whatever. Other than that, it was magical ^-^ *happy Aria*

And oh yeah babe, you're next ;D

Ah, that actually sounds effing amazing. I'd kill for a Gatsby-themed Prom. Instead, we get a ceilidh, which is traditional group Scottish dancing. I'd almost prefer the grinding. It's all very formal - we rent out a super-fancy hotel place and go have a shmancy meal and everything. Then we get drunk with our teachers and afterwards everyone over 18 goes out clubbing while us poor technically-minors crawl back home to weep bitterly into our dresses/kilts. xD

Oh lord, Elli going all dark, mysterious and seductive on Amis... that could only end well (and hilariously), what with the rage they'll probably end up feeling for eachother, right? ;P

It's okay, I wept bitterly into my dress after prom. I wasn't 18, so I couldn't go to the clubs and after-parties. Our prom is very fancy and formal as well, but the themes differ year to year. My sister had "Classic Old Hollywood" and "Masquerade."

Trust me, hilarity will ensue. Not only will there be rage, but remember that it makes Elli a cradle robber. #cougarstatus

Aah so that's why Edinburgh's your second choice... I got kind of confused by that. For those that don't know, Scotland treats english students like foreign students- we'd have to pay through the nose to go there.

My prom was just about the most aggressively and hilariously shit thing I have ever witnessed. I guess that's what you get living in southampton, the only city in the UK to look it's best in the time period just after being bombed.

So I have a question for Nines and Halo: So you know how girls in America love accents? When teeny bopper/early twenty-somethings visit the UK, are they pretty easy to spot? I mean, do they go nuts over every male who speaks or what?
