Character Origin & Backstory:
Anthony Stark was born to wealthy industrialist and humanitarian Howard Stark, and social/humanitarian/actress Maria Stark. At least thats who he was told were his real parents, up until his 18th birthday where he and his parents had a falling out and it was revealed that he was adopted.
Growing up, he had a lonesome life, with only his dog, Jarvis to keep him company while his father spent his days inventing and engineering new things for society and weapons for the American Government, and his mother was travelling the globe. In an effort to spend time with his father, Tony learned he had a high aptitude for learning and engineering things. By age 15 he built a prototype hologram projector, which actually work for a few brief moments before his home's energy output reached it's limit.
When he and his parents fell out, he ran away with his dog, attempting to make a new name for himself, but he lacked the business side of running a business of technological manufactoring, and quickly failed. During this low point, the world was shocked when Howard and Maria died in a car crash. The general public had no idea of their family being torn apart, so Tony saved face and became the head of StarkTech Global, a worldwide company that had it's hands in every field of study.
Learning from his past failed business ventures, he hired Obidiah Stane and Virginia "Pepper" Potts to be his figurehead and personal secretary respectively.
Obidiah was then working for Hammer Industries, an America centered company that was floundering and falling fast, so he jumped ship, intent making his name serious in the world of business and politics.
Virigina was a beautiful model, and a very intelligent young woman with ties to the United States Military, primarily through her boyfriend Colonel James Rhodes.
By age 21, Tony had become the world's richest person in money, but the world's poorest when it came to family and friends. All he had was his dog, who was growing old, and an endless string of sexual partners, all women of course. This realization forced him to start drinking alcohol to cope with such a stressfull life.
Tony spent his 25th birthday overseas in the Middle East, in the past few years having lost the last remnant of family he had left, and so he poured 90% of his energy in his work, and 10% on booze and ladies, everything else was irrelevant to him. On his 25th birthday, he was kidnapped by an extremist group calling themselves The Ten Rings...
He was taken to a compound, along with several other high value individuals including Ho Yinsen and Maya Hansen. Together these people were forced to build state of the art weapons for the rising terrorist organization, but one day, one of the weapons malfunctioned and blew up, enveloping Tony Stark in a fiery inferno.
To save him, the hostages worked day and night to save him, he would wake occassionally and scream in unparalleled agony, but when his conditioned settled, he revealed a prototype exoskeleton his company was making, and through the pain he got them to build a workable, yet crude version of the one back home, though it came at a price.
His legs were useless and were amputated, his entire left arm was removed, his right arm cut in half. One of his lungs was crushed, and he only had 25% vision in both eyes combined...
The people of the scientific community didn't quetion the ethics, didn't say no and let the man die. They pushed the boundaries of science a little further, they saved the life of a young man, one who had every reason to not continue to live.
Yet Tony Stark was born anew, no longer a man, but an Iron Man...
Powers and Abilities (What can your character do? What can't they do?):
Skills:
1) Genius Intellect- Tony has an almost superhuman brain, capable of computing complex equations, solving theories, and many other feats, even while distracted
2) Advanced Engineering Skills- Tony can make anything out of anything, from an exoskeletal splint, to a suit of armor made in a cave
(As Iron Man)
1) Durability- most of his suits are made of a mesh of titanium, platinum, diamond, and vibranium, thus making his suit nearly unbreakable by average man
2) Strength- Iron Man can lift 1 ton, the equivalent of a small automotive vehicle easy as pie, but will struggle with 5 tons
3) Flight- Iron Man is able to break the sound barrier at best, and is able to enter the outer limits of Earth's atmosphere for a brief time of about five minutes
4) Repulsors- Iron Man can project hard light from his palm and chest, all three combined can break through solid crystaline structures
5) Various interchangable weapons- Iron Man is equipped with anything from small arms fire, to Bunker Busters (from Iron Man 2)
6) Energy conservation- When Iron Man reaches 10% or lower power, the suit will absorb any nearby sources of energy (kinetic impact, heat/solar, cryogenics, otherworldly, ect)
7) Life Support- The suit's primary function is to keep Tony alive for longer than his 12 hours of unassistance. It is equipped with dialysis, an external heart and monitor, iron lungs, and many other devices
Sample Post (This is used as an introduction to your writing – try to keep it to around three paragraphs or more and try to include dialogue):
It was overwhelmingly dark, and eerily quiet with absoluetly no noise. He couldn't move, and he couldn't blink, life had become an unbearably painful nightmare. He was a shell of his former self, now inside of an actual metal shell so he could live another day, for the past few days he was unsure if he could it anymore, live that is, but he had a promise to keep.
Slowly, images appeared before him, first a blueprint of his workshop, bare as it was, it was his new bedroom. Then slowly it was given finer details until he has able to see and analyze everything individually.
Next came the noise, nothing overwhelming, just the soft whirring of the suit, and the quiet murmur of the television on upstairs in his living room. There was no smell to be accompanied, for it had died with him back in captivity.
Slowly his hands began to ball into fists, not his own flesh and blood, for they were gone as well, replaced by cold, hard metal. He didn't even have phantom pains.
Tony Stark, a man now forced within this suit of life support, grimaced with what little facial tissue he had that remained, "move damnit," he said aloud, and little by little the suit was unplugged from the wall, the corner of his vision read 100% power.
Tony growled under his breath as his new feet clumsily stepped forwards, every movement he made caused a noise to be made.
"Review the past seventy two hours of visual input," he commanded the systems.
"Reviewing and retrieving... view now?" Asked the autonomous voice that came through the armor,
Yes," Tony said flatly as he stood still and watched the movie his new life begin to take form, the part of the machine that was life support applied eyedrops to his bloodshot eyes, but he couldn't blink away the pain, he couldn't blink at all for he had no eyelids. So he just stood and watched...
